Accurate estimation of the dispersal velocity or speed of evolving organisms is no mean feat. In fact, existing probabilistic models in phylogeography or spatial population genetics generally do not provide an adequate framework to define velocity in a relevant manner. For instance, the very concept of instantaneous speed simply does not exist under one of the most popular approaches that models the evolution of spatial coordinates as Brownian trajectories running along a phylogeny.

Objective: To culturally adapt and validate the Italian version of the Shoulder Instability-Return to Sport after Injury (SI-RSI-I) scale.
Methods: The SI-RSI-I was developed by adapting the Anterior Cruciate Ligament-Return to Sport Index-Italian version and replacing the term "knee" with "shoulder." Subsequently, it underwent validation following COSMIN recommendations.

Skin aging is associated with a progressive decline in physiological functions, skin cancers and, ultimately, death. It may be categorized as intrinsic or extrinsic, whereby intrinsic aging is attributed to chronological and genetic factors. At the molecular level, skin aging involves changes in protein conformation and function.

Respirometry provides a direct measure of an organism's O consumption rate (VO), which is a significant component of its metabolic rate (energy expenditure). Amongst ants, variations in lifespan between different social castes (such as workers and queens) can be substantial, varying depending on the species. As metabolic rate is higher in short-living species, we aimed to determine how VO and longevity may have coevolved within ant casts.

Background: Chronic ankle instability is frequent complication following ankle sprains. Anatomical reconstruction of the anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL) and the calcaneofibular ligament (CFL) with a gracilis autograft is a validated reconstruction technique. The signal-to-noise quotient ankle (SNQA) score evaluates graft maturation with MRI and has been shown to be reproducible and reliable.

Background: Several self-administered questionnaires are available for assessing hip function in clinical practice (HOOS-12, Oxford-12). These questionnaires can be used to assess and monitor patients with hip pathology. However, they are sometimes difficult to deploy in clinical practice.

This study was designed to respond to the existing lack of agreement and to provide a valuable resource for clinicians by employing an expert-modified Delphi consensus method.
Methods: Forty-eight recognized bariatric surgeons from 28 countries participated in the modified Delphi consensus to vote on 64 statements in two rounds.

Congenital hydrocephalus, characterized by cerebral ventriculomegaly, is one of the most common reasons for paediatric brain surgery. Recent studies have implicated lin-41 (lineage variant 41)/TRIM71 (tripartite motif 71) as a candidate congenital hydrocephalus risk gene; however, TRIM71 variants have not been systematically examined in a large patient cohort or conclusively linked with an OMIM syndrome. Through cross-sectional analysis of the largest assembled cohort of patients with cerebral ventriculomegaly, including neurosurgically-treated congenital hydrocephalus (totalling 2697 parent-proband trios and 8091 total exomes), we identified 13 protein-altering de novo variants (DNVs) in TRIM71 in unrelated children exhibiting variable ventriculomegaly, congenital hydrocephalus, developmental delay, dysmorphic features and other structural brain defects, including corpus callosum dysgenesis and white matter hypoplasia.

This paper proposes a fully automated method for recovering modal components from a signal in shallow waters. The scenario involves an unknown source emitting low-frequency sound waves in a shallow water environment, and a single hydrophone recording the signal. The proposed automated algorithm is based on the warping method to separate each modal component in the time-frequency space.

Introduction: Laparoscopic major hepatectomy (LMH) remains restricted to a few specialized centers and poses a challenge to surgeons performing laparoscopic resections. Laparoscopic extended resections are even more complex and rarely conducted.
Methods: From a single-institution database, we compared the short-term outcomes of patients who underwent major and extended laparoscopic resections, stratifying the entire retrospective cohort into four groups: right hepatectomy, left hepatectomy, right extended hepatectomy, and left extended hepatectomy.

Association with hypomethylating agents is a promising strategy to improve the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors-based therapy. The NIBIT-M4 was a phase Ib, dose-escalation trial in patients with advanced melanoma of the hypomethylating agent guadecitabine combined with the anti-CTLA-4 antibody ipilimumab that followed a traditional 3 + 3 design (NCT02608437). Patients received guadecitabine 30, 45 or 60 mg/m/day subcutaneously on days 1 to 5 every 3 weeks starting on week 0 for a total of four cycles, and ipilimumab 3 mg/kg intravenously starting on day 1 of week 1 every 3 weeks for a total of four cycles.

Intraneural lipomatous tumors are rare lesions that mostly affect the upper extremities. These slowly growing tumors can have a serious neurological and functional impact when they reach a significantly large size. We report herein a case of a 53-year-old female who presented with a large median nerve intraneural lipomatous tumor causing compression-related signs.

In this work we introduce the personalized online super learner (POSL), an online personalizable ensemble machine learning algorithm for streaming data. POSL optimizes predictions with respect to baseline covariates, so personalization can vary from completely individualized, that is, optimization with respect to subject ID, to many individuals, that is, optimization with respect to common baseline covariates. As an online algorithm, POSL learns in real time.

The proteome comprises all proteins of a cell or organism. To carry their catalytic and structure-related functions, proteins must be correctly folded into their unique native three-dimensional structures. Common oxidative protein damage affects their functionality by impairing their catalytic and interactive specificities.

Background: Whether healthcare workers with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are at increased risk of Novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) due to occupational exposure is unknown.
Aim: To assess the risk of COVID-19 in healthcare workers with IBD.
Methods: A case control study enrolled 326 healthcare workers with IBD from 17 GETAID centres and matched non-healthcare workers with IBD controls (1:1) for gender, age, disease subtype and year of diagnosis.

Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (alloSCT) is curative for severe inborn errors of immunity (IEIs), with recent data suggesting alloSCT in adulthood is safe and effective in selected patients. However, questions remain regarding the indications for and optimal timing of transplant. We retrospectively compared outcomes of transplanted vs matched nontransplanted adults with severe IEIs.
