Publishing preprints is quickly becoming commonplace in ecology and evolutionary biology. Preprints can facilitate the rapid sharing of scientific knowledge establishing precedence and enabling feedback from the research community before peer review. Yet, significant barriers to preprint use exist, including language barriers, a lack of understanding about the benefits of preprints and a lack of diversity in the types of research outputs accepted (e.

Background: The importance of the subscapularis for reverse total shoulder arthroplasty has been demonstrated, especially for internal rotation and stability. In a deltopectoral approach, a detachment of the subscapularis is performed (tenotomy, tuberosity peeling, or osteotomy), but the tendon is not always repairable at the end. When it is repaired, healing is obtained in only 40%-76% of the cases, with potential consequences for the outcomes.

The present study describes the use of the di--butyl dicarbonate (BocO)/4-(,-dimethylamino)pyridine (DMAP) system for the amidation of carboxylic acids under neat conditions without heating. A set of carboxylic acids was explored, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), fatty acids and protected prolines in the presence of aromatic, benzylic and aliphatic amines as nucleophilic partners. The scope of this easy approach was extended to the preparation of thirty-two diverse carboxylic amides, which were recovered with isolated yields varying from moderate to excellent.

The prevalence of glutathionylated (G-) precursors of polyfunctional thiols (PFTs) over their free forms has prompted investigating how to optimize the enzymatic breakdown of these precursors with yeast during lager, ale, and non-alcoholic/low-alcoholic beer (NABLAB) fermentation trials. Some yeasts have been selected for their higher β-lyase activity on the cysteinylated (Cys-) conjugates (up to 0.54% for SafAle K-97), yet some strains and one maltose-negative var.

Infertility affects 10-15% of couples worldwide, with male factors accounting for half of cases. Environmental, behavioral, and genetic problems contribute to spermatogenic failure in 30% of idiopathic male infertility cases. Other factors, such as oxidative stress (OS), cause impaired spermatogenesis, abnormal sperm morphology, and reduced motility, eventually triggering male infertility.

Flexibility has been a key selling point in the development of carbon-based electronics and sensors with the promise of further development into wearable devices. Semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) lend themselves well to applications requiring flexibility while achieving high-performance. Our previous work has demonstrated a tri-layer polymer dielectric composed of poly(lactic acid) (PLA), poly(vinyl alcohol) with cellulose nanocrystals (PVAc), and toluene diisocyanate-terminated poly(caprolactone) (TPCL), yielding an environmentally benign and solution-processable n-type thin-film transistor (TFT).

Immunoprecipitation coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (IP-MS/MS) methods are often used to identify protein-protein interactions (PPIs). While these approaches are prone to false positive identifications through contamination and antibody nonspecific binding, their results can be filtered using negative controls and computational modeling. However, such filtering does not effectively detect false-positive interactions when IP-MS/MS is performed on human plasma samples.

Background/objectives: Pasireotide (PAS) is a somatostatin receptor ligand (SRL) used to treat acromegaly, a chronic condition caused by excess growth hormone. While it offers significant benefits as a second-line treatment for uncontrolled acromegaly, its use raises major concerns due to hyperglycemic side effects and gastrointestinal issues, the latter being similar to those seen with first-generation SRLs. The aim of this study is to evaluate the real-world evidence on adverse drug reactions (ADRs) reported for PAS in the EudraVigilance database, in comparison to other established drug-based therapies for acromegaly.
