Developments in the field of artificial intelligence have made great strides in the field of automatic semantic segmentation, both in the 2D (image) and 3D spaces. Within the context of 3D recording technology it has also seen application in several areas, most notably in creating semantically rich point clouds which is usually performed manually. In this paper, we propose the introduction of deep learning-based semantic image segmentation into the photogrammetric 3D reconstruction and classification workflow.

A combination of searches for top squark pair production using proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 13 at the CERN LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137 collected by the CMS experiment, is presented. Signatures with at least 2 jets and large missing transverse momentum are categorized into events with 0, 1, or 2 leptons. New results for regions of parameter space where the kinematical properties of top squark pair production and top quark pair production are very similar are presented.

Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus (CCHFV) is the most widespread tick-borne zoonotic virus, with a 30% case fatality rate in humans. Structural information is lacking in regard to the CCHFV membrane fusion glycoprotein Gc—the main target of the host neutralizing antibody response—as well as antibody–mediated neutralization mechanisms. Introduction: Resistance to trastuzumab in breast cancer is an ongoing challenge. Clinical and biological effects of co-targeting HER2 and mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) in patients with HER2-positive early operable breast cancer via the addition of everolimus to preoperative trastuzumab were evaluated in a phase II randomised study.
Methods: Patients were randomised 1:1 to receive trastuzumab (4 mg/kg initial dose then 2 mg/kg weekly for 5 weeks) alone or combined with everolimus (10 mg/day for 6 weeks) and then underwent surgery.

Human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8) is an oncogenic virus that enters cells by fusion of the viral and endosomal cellular membranes in a process mediated by viral surface glycoproteins. One of the cellular receptors hijacked by HHV-8 to gain access to cells is the EphA2 tyrosine kinase receptor, and the mechanistic basis of EphA2-mediated viral entry remains unclear. Using X-ray structure analysis, targeted mutagenesis, and binding studies, we here show that the HHV-8 envelope glycoprotein complex H and L (gH/gL) binds with subnanomolar affinity to EphA2 via molecular mimicry of the receptor's cellular ligands, ephrins (Eph family receptor interacting proteins), revealing a pivotal role for the conserved gH residue E52 and the amino-terminal peptide of gL.
