Background: A subgroup of patients with chronic pelvic pain (CPP) exhibit organ sensitization, whose origin and mechanism remains largely unknown. Changes in microbiota composition in pelvic organs have been found to be associated with various pelvic pathological conditions. Therefore, a comprehensive analysis of the gut and genito-urinary microbiota composition and interactions in women with CPP may be key to understanding their involvement in the sensitization processes.

In over 80% of cases, primary hyperparathyroidism results from hypersecretion of PTH by a single parathyroid adenoma. Multi-glandular involvement, combining adenoma and/or hyperplasia in varying proportions, is also possible, although less frequent. When the diagnosis of hyperparathyroidism is certain and surgery is envisaged, imaging is useful for locating the hyperfunctioning gland or glands.

At present, primary hyperparathyroidism is most often discovered in an asymptomatic patient, but can sometimes be revealed by a renal or bone complications. In all cases, a full work-up is recommended, with assessment of renal function (glomerular filtration rate), 24-hour calciuria, screening for risk factors for lithiasis, and renal and urinary tract imaging (ultrasound or CT scan) to look for stones or nephrocalcinosis. Bone densitometry, with measurements of the spine, femur and radius, is the recommended reference test for demineralization.

We present an efficient strategy for on-surface engineering of organic metal-free supramolecular complexes with long-term spin protection. By vacuum deposition of azafullerene (CN) monomers on a pre-deposited template layer of [10]cycloparaphenylene ([10]CPP) nanohoops on Au(111) surface we exploit the molecular shape matching between the CN and [10]CPP for the azafullerene encapsulation with nanohoops in a guest-host complexation geometry. CN⊂[10]CPP supramolecular complexes self-assemble into an extended two-dimensional hexagonal lattice yielding a high density network of stable spin-1/2 radicals.

Introduction: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide. Treatments for TBI patients are limited and none has been shown to provide prolonged and long-term neuroprotective or neurorestorative effects. A growing body of evidence suggests a link between TBI-induced neuro-inflammation and neurodegenerative post-traumatic disorders.

RICTOR is a key component of the mTORC2 signaling complex which is involved in the regulation of cell growth, proliferation and survival. RICTOR is highly expressed in neurons and is necessary for brain development. Here, we report eight unrelated patients presenting with intellectual disability and/or development delay and carrying variants in the RICTOR gene.

In France, the short-stay activities of public and private sector healthcare facilities have been financed since 2004 by activity-based pricing (T2A). The principle is to allow for payment determined primarily by the nature and volume of activities. T2A has enabled a major transformation compared to the old financing system, chiefly for public sector facilities that used to operate under a general allocation, and convergence between payment methods in the public and private sectors.

Background: Ewing sarcoma (ES), the second main pediatric bone sarcoma, is characterised by a chromosomal translocation leading to the formation of fusion proteins like EWS::FLI1. While several studies have shown that potassium channels drive the development of many tumours, limited data exist on ES. This work therefore aimed to study the transcriptional regulation of KCNA2 and define the involvement of the Kv1.

We report the synthesis and characterization of two chiral binuclear iridium(III) complexes ( and ) prepared from enantiopure building blocks [μ-Cl(Δ-Ir(C^N))] and [μ-Cl(Λ-Ir(C^N))]. These building blocks have been obtained by chiral preparative high-performance liquid chromatography of the neutral iridium(III) complex (piv = 2,2,6,6-tetramethylheptane-3,5-dionate) followed by selective degradation of the ancillary ligand. For comparison purposes, we also synthesized a monomer () and a dimer (, mixture).

In the field of tissue engineering, determining the mechanical properties of hydrogels is a key prerequisite to develop biomaterials mimicking the properties of the extracellular matrix. In mechanobiology, understanding the relationships between the mechanical properties and physiological state of cells is also essential. Time-dependent mechanical characterization of these soft materials is commonly achieved by atomic force microscopy (AFM) experiments in liquid environment.

Excessive brain tissue pulsations (BTP), measured by ultrasound, have been associated with depression and are hypothesized to contribute to brain damage in this population at risk for cerebrovascular lesions. However, previous research has been limited by small sample sizes. To address this issue, our study pooled data from three separate investigations, resulting in the largest cohort of depressed participants with BTP measurements to date.

The benefits of screening for cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection during pregnancy remain a topic of debate. To date, no randomized trial has compared the impact of screening versus routine management on the prevention of severe sequelae in newborns. Furthermore, it is unclear what actions can be taken in case of a positive screening given that there is limited evidence of effective interventions as no treatments showed significant effect on the frequency of congenital cytomegalovirus infections and, as additional challenge, the window for effective treatment initiation after maternal infection is narrow, estimated to be as short as five weeks.

Background: ESTIMABL2, a multicentre randomised phase 3 trial in patients with low-risk differentiated thyroid cancer (ie, pT1am or pT1b, N0 [no evidence of regional nodal involvement] or Nx [involvement of regional lymph nodes that cannot be assessed in the absence of neck dissection]), showed the non-inferiority of a follow-up strategy without radioactive iodine (I) administration compared with a postoperative I administration at 3 years post-randomisation. Here, we report a pre-specified analysis after 5 years of follow-up.
Methods: Patients treated with total thyroidectomy with or without prophylactic neck lymph node dissection, without postoperative suspicious findings on neck ultrasonography, were randomly assigned to the no-radioiodine group or to the radioiodine group (1·1 GBq-30 mCi after recombinant human thyrotropin-stimulating hormone).
