Viruses have remarkable physical properties and complex interactions with their environment. However, their aggregation in confined spaces remains unexplored, although this phenomenon is of paramount importance for understanding viral infectivity. The aim of the current study is to demonstrate the feasibility of radiofrequency (RF) pulses generated via an optimal control (OC) algorithm to perform magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) and quantify the mechanical properties of materials with very short transverse relaxation times (T2 < 5 ms) for the first time. OC theory applied to MRE provides RF pulses that bring isochromats from the equilibrium state to a fixed target state, which corresponds to the phase pattern of a conventional MRE acquisition. Such RF pulses applied with a constant gradient allow to simultaneously perform slice selection and motion encoding in the slice direction.

A search for exotic decays of the Higgs boson () with a mass of 125 to a pair of light pseudoscalars is performed in final states where one pseudoscalar decays to two quarks and the other to a pair of muons or leptons. We investigate the mechanisms behind quasi-periodic outbursts on the Covid-19 epidemics. Data for France and Germany show that the patterns of outbursts exhibit a qualitative change in early 2022, which appears in a change in their average period and which is confirmed by the time-frequency analysis. This provides a signal that can be used to discriminate among several mechanisms.

New sets of parameter tunes for two of the colour reconnection models, quantum chromodynamics-inspired and gluon-move, implemented in the pythia 8 event generator, are obtained based on the default CMS pythia 8 underlying-event tune, CP5. Electrochemical behavior of silver nanoparticles in mesoporous oxides electrodes is investigated. Mesoporous SiO and TiO films deposited on FTO (fluorine-doped tin oxide) and containing Ag nanoparticles (NPs) are used as electrodes. Despite an extensive theoretical and numerical background, the translocation ratchet mechanism, which is fundamental for the transmembrane transport of biomolecules, has never been experimentally reproduced at the nanoscale.
