Background: For severe anterior glenoid bone loss due to recurrent shoulder instability, the Latarjet procedure offers a dynamic sling effect in addition to bone augmentation. Yet, it heavily alters the surrounding anatomy, while fixation and graft union issues are also common.
Purpose/hypothesis: The purpose of this study was to compare a novel printed 3-dimensional (3D) partial glenoid arthroplasty (PGA) implant with the classic Latarjet procedure.

Backgroud: Arthroscopic partial meniscectomy (APM) continues to be the popular treatment for meniscal tears, but recent randomized controlled trials have questioned its efficacy. To provide more evidence-based criteria for patient selection, we undertook this study to identify prognostic factors associated with clinical failure after APM for medial meniscus tears.
Methods: Medical records of 160 patients followed up for at least 5 years after APM for medial meniscal tears were retrospectively reviewed.

The authors present a case of transient postoperative inferior subluxation of the shoulder after arthroscopic surgical stabilization for recurrent anterior dislocation. The patient was a 61-year-old woman with myasthenia gravis (MG). The first anterior shoulder dislocation occurred because of a fall to the ground.

Background: This study aimed (1) to introduce a computed tomography (CT)-based classification of the posterolateral compartment of the tibial plateau based on the fibula and to propose the individualized surgical approaches for each zone; and (2) to determine the surgical approach based on the classification, that would achieve a safe and effective reduction and could improve postoperative clinical outcomes.
Methods: Eighteen cases of tibia plateau fracture involving the isolated posterolateral compartment in a single institution were retrospectively analyzed. The posterolateral compartment of the tibial plateau was segmented into three zones based on the fibular position and an individualized surgical approach was proposed for each zone.

Introduction: Certain type of injury of the triangular fibrocartilage complex associated with distal radius fracture can result in distal radioulnar joint instability (DRUJ). Untreated DRUJ instability may lead to poor result in the treatment of acute distal radius fractures. The aim of this study was to evaluate DRUJ instability in distal radius fractures through dorsal stress radiography comparing the affected and unaffected wrists intraoperatively.

Background: Isolated ankle syndesmosis disruption (without fibula fracture) causes acute pain and may cause chronic instability and pain. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the outcomes after anterior inferior tibiofibular ligament (AITFL) anatomical fixation using anchor sutures for unstable isolated syndesmosis disruption without fibular fractures.
Methods: This study assessed 22 athletes who were diagnosed with unstable isolated syndesmosis disruption with a positive external rotation test, had more than 2-mm diastasis on ultrasound, and had complete AITFL rupture on magnetic resonance imaging between 2004 and 2020.

We present an unusual case of bone metastases from renal cell carcinoma around orthopedic implants in a 78-year-old female with osteolytic, expansile, highly vascularized, malignant infiltration around suture anchors in the proximal humerus. The patient had undergone arthroscopic rotator cuff repair using suture anchor implants 6 years previously. After diagnosis of bone metastasis, she was successfully treated with metastasectomy and internal fixation using a plate and screws, with cement augmentation.

Amniotic tissues have been long utilised to treat chronic wounds; however, there are few studies evaluating how the wound microenvironment responds to these therapies. The goal of this study was to evaluate the changes in wounds treated with a hypothermically stored amniotic membrane (HSAM). In this prospective single-arm study, 15 female patients with venous leg ulcers were treated with HSAM from male donors and standard of care for 12 weeks.

Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) and osteoporosis (OP) are the 2 most common bone disorders associated with aging. We can simply assume that older patients have a higher incidence of OA and OP with more severity. Although several papers have conducted studies on the relationship between OA and OP, none of them has demonstrated a conclusive link.

Traditionally, a rigid intramedullary rod has been used as the reference guide for femoral cutting in total knee arthroplasty (TKA). However, correct positioning of this rigid rod is difficult, especially in the knees with severe distal femoral sagittal bowing. A flexible intramedullary rod has been developed to address this problem.

As the most widely consumed endocrine-disrupting chemical, bisphenol A (BPA) has been linked to reproductive dysfunction, diabetes mellitus, and obesity. However, the evidence for an association between BPA and cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains insufficient. In the present study, we aimed to identify the association between BPA and CVD, using data from the 2003-2016 National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (NHANES).

The objective of this study was to find the effect of hallux valgus (HV) deformity on the inter-segmental motion of the foot using an MFM with a 15-marker set (DuPont Foot Model, DuFM) in comparison with age and sex controlled healthy adults. Fifty-eight female symptomatic HV patients and 50 female asymptomatic older female volunteers were included in this study. According to the radiographic hallux valgus angle (HVA), the study population was divided into severe HV (SHV, HVA ≥ 40°, n = 25), moderate HV (MHV, 20° ≤ HVA < 40°, n = 47), and control (CON, n = 36).

Background: Higher tourniquet pressures may be associated with an increased risk of complications. We aimed to determine (1) whether a lower tourniquet pressure [systolic blood pressure (SBP) + 120 mmHg] is as effective as conventional tourniquet pressure (SBP + 150 mmHg) in providing a bloodless surgical field and decreasing blood loss, and (2) whether lowering the tourniquet pressure decreases tourniquet-related complications compared to conventional inflation pressure.
Methods: One hundred and sixty knees in 124 patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA) were randomly allocated to either conventional (n = 80) or lower inflation pressure group (n = 80).
