Purpose Of Review: High blood pressure (BP) or hypertension (HTN) remains key risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD). Circulating fatty acids (FAs) in the blood can affect directly cardiovascular hemodynamics and serves as building blocks for endocrine mediators modifying inflammatory processes and vascular function. This review aims to describe optimal circulating FA profiles for BP to adjust dietary recommendations for HTN prevention.

Background: Pain management and early mobilization strategies are recommended in clinical practice guidelines for the prevention of delirium in older adults. However, available data on the implementation of these strategies in trauma are limited.
Aims: To describe the use of pain management and early mobilization strategies in older adults at a level I trauma center, as well as the facilitators and barriers to their implementation.

Psoriasis is a skin disease presenting as erythematous lesions with accentuated proliferation of epidermal keratinocytes, infiltration of leukocytes, and dysregulated lipid metabolism. T cells play essential roles in the disease. n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids are anti-inflammatory metabolites, which exert an immunosuppressive effect on healthy T cells.

Objective: To evaluate the perception of immediately sequential bilateral cataract surgery (ISBCS) among Canadian ophthalmologists.
Design: An anonymous survey was sent to all active members of the Canadian Ophthalmological Society.
Methods: Basic demographic information, cataract surgery practice patterns, and perceived advantages, disadvantages, and concerns regarding ISBCS were collected from respondents.

Background: Folate and vitamin B12 status during pregnancy are important for maternal and neonatal health. Maternal intake and prepregnancy body mass index (ppBMI) can influence biomarker status.
Objectives: This study aimed to, throughout pregnancy; 1) assess folate and B12 status including serum total folate, plasma total vitamin B12, and homocysteine (tHcy); 2) examine how these biomarkers are associated with intakes of folate and B12 and with ppBMI; and 3) determine predictors of serum total folate and plasma total vitamin B12.

Electronic address:
Background: Knowing the percentage of women planning a pregnancy who meet preconception dietary and physical activity (PA) guidelines and which health-related preconception factors are associated with body mass index (BMI) could help improve preconception care.
Objectives: In a study conducted in women who were planning to conceive, the aims were to describe and compare eating and PA habits to current guidelines, as well as to identify the factors associated with BMI.
Design: This was a cross-sectional study.

Objectives: The study aimed 1) to compare trimester-specific and total gestational weight gain (GWG) between mothers who had undergone biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch (BPD) and two control groups of unoperated women and 2) to examine the associations between GWG, intrauterine fetal growth and neonatal birthweight.
Methods: This retrospective study included data collected in medical records of newborns and mothers from 3 groups: the first control group (PP) included mothers (n = 158) with a pre-pregnancy BMI similar to that of the surgical group (n = 63) and the second one (PS) included mothers (n = 85) with a pre-pregnancy BMI corresponding to that of the surgical group prior to BPD or a BMI > 40 kg/m. Trimester-specific GWG was obtained using linear interpolation and compared to the recommendations.

There have been significant improvements in the technology available for treating extensive burns in the past decade. This case presents two unique, skin replacement technologies that were used to treat an 86% surface area flame burn in a pediatric patient. A temporary dermal replacement, known as "Novosorb™ Biodegradable Temporizing Matrix" was first used to stabilize the burn injury and remained in place for approximately 3 months.

Objective: Examine the levels of plasma antioxidant vitamins before and during a treatment with placebo or vitamin E + C supplement to prevent preeclampsia (PE).
Study Design: Per-protocol analysis of a subset group of pregnant women (n = 295) from the International Trial of Antioxidants for the Prevention of PE (INTAPP) randomized case-control study. Normotensive receiving placebo or vitamins (n = 115 and 87 respectively) were compared to gestational hypertension (GH) without proteinuria (n = 30 and 27) and PE (n = 21 and 15).

Introduction: Cervical cancer screening coverage rate is <5% in Sub-Saharan Africa and <2% in French- speaking African countries. In 2016, we implemented strategies to improve cervical cancer screening in Bamako, the "Weekend70 program". The present study objectives are to determine the effect of this program on women's participation in cervical cancer screening in Bamako, and to estimate the cervical cancer screening coverage rate in Bamako.

Context: Contrary to nutritional guidelines, accumulating evidence shows that pregnant women's energy intakes remain stable throughout trimesters. Although pregnant women may eat below their needs or underreport their energy intakes, it is also relevant to question how energy requirements - estimated through measurements of energy expenditure (EE) - change throughout pregnancy.
Objective: This review examined prospective studies that measured EE during pregnancy, following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines.

Detection of Zika virus (ZIKV) in the central nervous system (CNS) is a critical step when studying the pathogenesis of the infection in animal models. Both viral load determination and immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining are useful methods to quantitatively and qualitatively characterize viral infections in target tissues. Here, we describe viral RNA load determination by droplet digital PCR as well as protein detection by polymer-based IHC as effective techniques to quantify and localize ZIKV in the CNS of mice.

However, quantitative tests to measure the adhesion forces between two highly viscoelastic substrates such as those found in bilayered bioengineered skin are needed and are still lacking. The objective of this study was to develop a mechanical test to measure the dermal-epidermal adhesion strength of our bilayered tissue-engineered skin substitute (TES) produced with the self-assembly method.

We aimed to compare the dietary quality and intake of pregnant women, women planning to conceive and women of childbearing age. Fifty-five pregnant women were matched for age and pre-pregnancy body mass index with 55 women planning to conceive and 55 women of childbearing age. Three Web-based 24-h recalls were completed, from which the Canadian Healthy Eating Index was calculated.

Discussions about real knowledge contained in grand theories and models seem to remain an active quest in the academic sphere. The most fervent of these defendants is Rosemarie Parse with her Humanbecoming School of Thought (1981, 1998). This article first highlights the similarities between Parse's theory and Blumer's symbolic interactionism (1969).
