After musculoskeletal injuries, there is often a loss of corticospinal control. Current tendon rehabilitation may not adequately address the corticospinal control of the muscle which may contribute to the recalcitrance of symptom recurrence. This review provides a summary of the current literature regarding the effectiveness of tempo-controlled resistance training (TCRT) in (1) promoting corticospinal plasticity, (2) improving physical performance, and (3) improving strength outcomes in healthy adults.

Background: Patient-reported outcome measures quantify outcomes from patients' perspective with validated instruments. QuickDASH (Quick Disability of Arm, Shoulder and Hand, an upper extremity PROM) scores improve after completing instrument tasks, suggesting patient-reported outcome results can be modified. We hypothesized that performing lower extremity tasks on the knee injury and osteoarthritis outcome score for joint reconstruction (KOOS-JR) and hip disability and osteoarthritis outcome score for joint reconstruction (HOOS-JR) instruments would similarly improve the scores.

The direct synthesis of alkenes from alkynes usually requires the use of transition-metal catalysts. Unfortunately, efficient biocatalytic alternatives for this transformation have yet to be discovered. Herein, the selective bioreduction of electron-deficient alkynes to alkenes catalysed by ene-reductases (EREDs) is described.

Gene-editing technologies promise to create a new class of therapeutics that can achieve permanent correction with a single intervention. Besides eliminating mutant alleles in familial disease, gene-editing can also be used to favorably manipulate upstream pathophysiologic events and alter disease-course in wider patient populations, but few such feasible therapeutic avenues have been reported. Here we use CRISPR-Cas9 to edit the last exon of amyloid precursor protein (), relevant for Alzheimer's disease (AD).

Transcervical fibroid ablation (TFA) is an incisionless method to treat symptomatic uterine fibroids. While safety regarding future pregnancy remains to be established, TFA does not preclude the possibility of pregnancy, and a previous 36-patient case series of post-TFA pregnancies reported normal outcomes. That prior series did not include postmarket cases in the United States, as the Sonata System was initially cleared and used in Europe.

Introduction: Cutaneous adverse reactions to epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitors (EGFRi) are some of the most common side effects that patients experience. However, cutaneous adverse reactions that cause dyspigmentation in patients have been rarely reported. Erythema dyschromicum perstans (EDP) is a rare pigmentary condition that causes ashy-grey hyperpigmented macules and patches, with a few cases reported from EGFRi in the literature.

Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) holds promise as a biomarker for predicting clinical responses to therapy in solid tumors, and multiple ctDNA assays are in development. However, the heterogeneity in ctDNA levels prior to treatment (baseline) across different cancer types and stages and across ctDNA assays has not been widely studied. Friends of Cancer Research formed a collaboration across multiple commercial ctDNA assay developers to assess baseline ctDNA levels across five cancer types in early- and late-stage disease.

Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) and nitric oxide (NO) have been recognized as important mediators in migraine but their mechanisms of action and interaction have not been fully elucidated. Monoclonal anti-CGRP antibodies like fremanezumab are successful preventives of frequent migraine and can be used to study CGRP actions in preclinical experiments. Fremanezumab (30 mg/kg) or an isotype control monoclonal antibody was subcutaneously injected to Wistar rats of both sexes.

Objectives: Image-guided ultrasound or fluoroscopic glenohumeral injections have high accuracy rates but require training, equipment, cost, and radiation exposure (fluoroscopy). In contrast, landmark-guided glenohumeral injections do not require additional subspecialist referrals or equipment. An optimal technique would be safe and accurate and have few barriers to implementation.

The working curve informs resin properties and print parameters for stereolithography, digital light processing, and other photopolymer additive manufacturing (PAM) technologies. First demonstrated in 1992, the working curve measurement of cure depth vs radiant exposure of light is now a foundational measurement in the field of PAM. Despite its widespread use in industry and academia, there is no formal method or procedure for performing the working curve measurement, raising questions about the utility of reported working curve parameters.

The protein corona, a dynamic biomolecular layer that forms on nanoparticle (NP) surfaces upon exposure to biological fluids is emerging as a valuable diagnostic tool for improving plasma proteome coverage analyzed by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Here, we show that spiking small molecules, including metabolites, lipids, vitamins, and nutrients (namely, glucose, triglyceride, diglycerol, phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine, L-α-phosphatidylinositol, inosine 5'-monophosphate, and B complex), into plasma can induce diverse protein corona patterns on otherwise identical NPs, significantly enhancing the depth of plasma proteome profiling. The protein coronas on polystyrene NPs when exposed to plasma treated with an array of small molecules (n=10) allowed for detection of 1793 proteins marking an 8.
