Design: Retrospective cohort study.

Setting: Level I academic trauma center.

Background: Perceived cognitive impairments(PCI) are the most common complications that Non-Central Nervous System (Non-CNS) cancers survivors experience. Studies have suggested that those who expreience fear of cancer recurrence (FCR) tend to report cognitive problems; however, this association has not been examined.

Methods: Participants (n = 6,714) were enrolled in the Women's Health Initiative Life and Longevity After Cancer study.

Engineering solutions like cool surfaces that increase surface albedo and reduce temperatures may help mitigate these impacts. We conducted detailed micrometeorological modeling to analyze surface characteristics and heat exposure for outdoor workers at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) under current conditions and three hypothetical albedo-increase scenarios.

Access improvement in healthcare: a 12-step framework for operational practice.

Background: Access improvement is a fundamental component of value-based healthcare as it inherently promotes quality by eliminating chokepoints, redundancies, and inefficiencies which could hinder the provisioning of timely care. The purpose of this review is to present a 12-step framework which offers healthcare organizations a practical, thematic-based foundation for thinking about access improvement.

The Simons Observatory: Design, Optimization, and Performance of Low-Frequency Detectors.

The Simons Observatory (SO) is a cosmic microwave background (CMB) experiment located in the Atacama Desert in Chile that will make precise temperature and polarization measurements over six spectral bands ranging from 27 to 285 GHz. Three small aperture telescopes (SATs) and one large aperture telescope (LAT) will house 60,000 detectors and cover angular scales between one arcminute and tens of degrees. We present the performance of the dichroic, low-frequency (LF) lenslet-coupled sinuous antenna transition-edge sensor (TES) bolometer arrays with bands centered at 27 and 39 GHz.

The present work aims to shed light on the question of whether certain psychological characteristics go along with choosing an e-coach offer to support healthy Internet use when reporting elevated Internet Use Disorder (IUD) tendencies. Data were from a large-scale stepped care approach study to treat persons with varying degrees of IUD tendencies. Recruitment for advertising the download of a smartphone app included social media, videos by influencers, paid ads, TV, radio, newspapers, workshops, and vocational schools.

Efficient adsorptive removal of potassium from potassium perrhenate solution using a cationic ion exchange resin.

Potassium is a harmful impurity in the rhenium sinter, which adversely affects its mechanical properties by significantly reducing the density of sintered rhenium. Cationic resin is a promising material for potassium removal. In this study, the strong acid cationic exchange resin C160H was pretreated with an HNO solution to enhance its performance in potassium removal.

Child Death and Mothers' Subsequent Mental Health in a High-Mortality African Community.

Despite declines in child mortality rates, experiencing a child death remains a common feature of motherhood in many contemporary African populations. Yet, we lack population insights into the consequences of child death for mothers' well-being in the high-mortality regions where it concentrates. Contrasting an extensive psychology literature on the severe and long-lasting consequences of child death for parents in low-mortality settings, a long-standing thesis in multiple social science literature is that the normativity of child death in high-mortality settings can lead to a numbing effect-muting parents' reactions to child loss.

Right coronary ostial atresia as a cause of arrhythmia and cardiogenic shock in a young woman: a case report.

A 19-year-old woman presented to the emergency department with arrhythmia and signs of cardiogenic shock. After a 12-lead electrocardiogram ruled out acute myocardial infarction, and cardiac magnetic resonance showed no sign of cardiomyopathy, cardiac computed tomography angiography (CCTA) was performed, displaying ostial atresia of the right coronary artery. She was thus referred to a specialist centre for congenital cardiovascular disease, where an electrophysiological study observed an arrhythmogenic focus on the posteromedial papillary muscle, which was ablated, and she has been asymptomatic since.

A Qualitative Study of First HIV Test Experiences Among Sexual and Gender Minority Adolescents.

Introduction: This qualitative study examined adolescents' first experiences with HIV testing.

Methods: Data were collected from April 2018 to October 2020 as part of an HIV prevention and sex education intervention; SGM adolescents ( = 175) answered open-ended questions regarding experiences with their first HIV test and advice for other adolescents seeking HIV testing. Data were analyzed through inductive content analysis.

Optimization and action mechanism of pollutant removal performance of unsaturated vertical flow constructed wetland (UVFCW) driven by substained-release carbon source.

Constructed wetland (CW) technology has attracted much attention due to its economical and environmentally friendly features. The low dissolved oxygen (DO) and low carbon/nitrogen (C/N) ratio in the wetland influent water affect the treatment performance of CW, resulting in a decrease in the removal efficiency of ammonia nitrogen (NH -N) and nitrate nitrogen (NO -N). In order to address this problem, this study optimized the pollutants removal performance of unsaturated vertical flow constructed wetland (UVFCW) by adding sustained-release carbon sources (corn cobs + polybutylene adipate terephthalate (PBAT)).

Foliar calcium application reduces fluorine accumulation in tea plant by regulating cell wall structure and gene expression.

Tea plant can enrich a large amount of fluorine (F) in the cell wall of its mature leaves, thus posing the risk of excessive intake of F for tea consumers. This study investigated the effect of foliar calcium (Ca) application (0.05-1 mM) on F accumulation in tea plant leaves by analyzing the association of F with cell wall materials, pectin methylesterification structure, and cell wall genes.

APPLICATIONS OF MATHEMATICAL PROGRAMMING TO GENETIC BIOCONTROL.

We review existing approaches to optimizing the deployment of genetic biocontrol technologies-tools used to prevent vector-borne diseases such as malaria and dengue-and formulate a mathematical program that enables the incorporation of crucial ecological and logistical details. The model is comprised of equality constraints grounded in discretized dynamic population equations, inequality constraints representative of operational limitations including resource restrictions, and an objective function that jointly minimizes the count of competent mosquito vectors and the number of transgenic organisms released to mitigate them over a specified time period. We explore how nonlinear programming (NLP) and mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) can advance the state of the art in designing the operational implementation of three distinct transgenic public health interventions, two of which are presently in active use around the world.

Here, we present the consolidated findings of a risk analysis spanning four study regions: Longyearbyen (Svalbard, Norway), the Avannaata municipality (Greenland), the Beaufort Sea region and the Mackenzie River Delta (Canada) and the Bulunskiy District of the Sakha Republic (Russia).

Research Background: Porang ( Blume) contains a high amount of starch, glucomannan and Ca-oxalate. Soaking porang tuber in acid (citric acid) and salt (sodium chloride) solutions affects the Ca-oxalate content, functional, rheological and thermal properties of porang flour. The aim of this study is to thoroughly investigate the effect of soaking treatments in acid and salt solutions at different temperatures on the physicochemical, rheological and thermal properties, functional groups, molecular mass and morphology of porang flour.

Methods: Participants ( = 339) self-reported their physical activity behaviors using EMA five times a day over 7 days while wearing a continuous physical activity monitor.

Therapeutic alliance refers to the collaborative relationship between a therapist and a patient, a concept widely explored in clinical research. It has emerged as a crucial component of effective psychotherapeutic interventions, particularly in the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD), where its role appears to be multifaceted. In this context, we reviewed the main literature on the role of therapeutic alliance in MDD.

Parameter Estimation Procedures for Exponential-family Random Graph Models on Count-valued Networks: A Comparative Simulation Study.

The exponential-family random graph models (ERGMs) have emerged as an important framework for modeling social networks for a wide variety of relational types. ERGMs for valued networks are less well-developed than their unvalued counterparts, and pose particular computational challenges. Network data with edge values on the non-negative integers (count-valued networks) is an important such case, with examples ranging from the magnitude of migration and trade flows between places to the frequency of interactions and encounters between individuals.
