Objectives: To evaluate the self-etch bonding potential of universal adhesive systems with varying acidic compositions by analyzing the wettability properties, topographical change, and microshear bond strength (µSBS) to enamel.
Methods: Eight universal adhesives were tested: All-Bond Universal (Bisco), Ambar Universal (FGM), Gluma Bond Universal (Kulzer), OptiBond Universal (Kerr), Peak Universal Bond (Ultradent), Prime&Bond Universal (Dentsply), Singlebond Universal (3 M ESPE), and Tetric N-Bond Universal (Ivoclar). Bovine incisors were prepared and treated with each adhesive according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Background/objectives: Genetic variants in PRSS1 encoding human cationic trypsinogen are associated with hereditary pancreatitis. The clinically frequent variants exert their pathogenic effect by increasing intrapancreatic trypsin activity, while a distinct subset of variants causes disease via mutation-induced trypsinogen misfolding and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress. Here, we report a novel misfolding PRSS1 variant.

Background: Heterozygous immunoproteasome subunit beta-type 10 (PSMB10) mutations can cause severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) and Omenn syndrome (OS). Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in these patients is associated with severe complications and poor immune reconstitution, often resulting in death.
Objective: To perform immunological and molecular characterization of an infant with a PSMB10 heterozygous variant.

The AMP Clinical Genomics Bioinformatician Body of Knowledge (BoK) Steering Committee of the Informatics Subdivision, Association for Molecular Pathology, Rockville, MD, USA; University of North Carolina School of Medicine, Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The use of next-generation sequencing (NGS) and other high-throughput technologies in the clinical molecular diagnostics laboratory requires the application of bioinformatics pipelines and other computational tools to analyze, visualize, and store these clinical data. Clinical Bioinformaticians, individuals with the skills to develop, validate, and deploy these tools in a clinical setting, are needed to ensure that these molecular diagnostic technologies can be appropriately used for clinical care. Building on existing expertise in informatics, NGS, and clinical molecular diagnostics, the Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) has generated a series to establish an initial Clinical Bioinformatician Body of Knowledge.

Persistent pain in multiple distinct body sites is associated with poorer functional outcomes above and beyond pain intensity and interference. Veterans, and especially those with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), may be at risk for multisite pain. However, the research to date characterizing this presentation is limited.

Background: Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is an attractive therapeutic target due to its diverse roles in the pathogenesis of conditions characterized by systemic inflammation. IL-6 has also been implicated in the pathophysiology of heart failure. This study aimed to investigate the impact of IL-6 receptor blockade with tocilizumab on the molecular pathways underlying systemic inflammation-induced left ventricular (LV) dysfunction in a collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) rat model.

Background: Osteocytes are crucial for detecting mechanical stimuli and translating them into biochemical responses within the bone. The primary cilium, a cellular 'antenna,' plays a vital role in this process. However, there is a lack of direct correlation between cilium length changes and osteocyte mechanosensitivity changes.

Objective: There is a paucity of data on sex-based differences in outcomes after thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) performed for Stanford type B aortic dissections (TBAD). Examining the predictive role of sex could shape future clinical guidelines for TEVAR. Thus, this study aims to evaluate the association between sex and postoperative outcomes after TEVAR performed for TBAD.

Aims: To estimate physical activity (activity) duration required to lower glucose from above target range (>180 mg/dL) to within target range (TIR: 70-180 mg/dL) in individuals with type 1 diabetes (T1D).
Methods: Continuous glucose monitoring and activity data were collected from 404 adults (28-day observation) and 149 adolescents (10-day observation) with T1D. Activities (N = 1902) with a starting glucose between 181--300 mg/dL, duration 10-60 min, and no reported meals during activity were included in the analysis.

The ongoing weathering of metal sulfides has substantially posed threats to the eco-systems. For remediating metal sulfides-contaminated soils, phytostabilization is a promising nature-based technique that immobilizing heavy metals (HMs) that dissolved from metal sulfides in the rhizosphere, preventing their leaching and migrating into soil and groundwater. However, the underlying mechanism regarding the mineral-root interaction involving primary metal sulfides such as galena (PbS) during the remediation processes has yet been well studied.

Subspecialization in surgery is increasingly common and for great reasons. Over the past twenty years, there is evidence in support of link between sub-specialization in the disciplines of orthopedic surgery, general, thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, and in interventional cardiology and better patient outcomes and technical advances in their respective fields. In addition, studies suggest increased hospital and surgeon volume throughout surgery may lead to improved surgical outcomes.

Introduction: Hospitalization rates for acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) have increased, resulting in 6.5 million hospital days annually. Despite this, optimal diuretic strategies for managing ADHF remain unclear, highlighting the need to analyze diuretic practice patterns in ADHF treatment.

Bacteriophages (phages) have a great potential to target specifically foodborne bacterial pathogens, particularly in packaging materials. However, incorporating phages into packaging surfaces requires stabilizing their structure and maintaining their infectivity during the papermaking process. In this study, several coating formulations containing various ratios of carboxymethyl cellulose, cationic starch, and glycerol were applied to a base paper to assess phage stability.

In plants, cellular function is orchestrated by three distinct genomes located within the nucleus, mitochondrion, and plastid. These genomes are interdependent, requiring tightly coordinated maintenance and expression. Plastids host several multisubunit protein complexes encoded by both the plastid and nuclear genomes.

Background: Axicabtagene ciloleucel (axi-cel), a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy, has significantly improved clinical outcomes in adult patients with relapsed/refractory large B-cell lymphoma (LBCL). However, few studies have examined patient-reported outcomes (PROs) or neurocognitive performance in patients treated with axi-cel. Moreover, no longitudinal PRO study has reported on patients treated with axi-cel as standard of care in the United States, to our knowledge.

Heart failure (HF) in children is a complex syndrome with multiple diverse etiologies and both acute and chronic presentations. Chronic presentations can persist throughout childhood and adolescence, and require diligent management with ongoing reassessment to maximize survival and quality of life. Stages of HF are key to recognize as they guide both management and inform prognosis.
