A novel pH-responsive full-bio-based surfactant (Ca-S) containing a dynamic covalent bond is synthesized using renewable cashew phenol, 5-chloro-2-furanaldehyde, and taurine. The structure of Ca-S is characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) analysis. Limonene containing oil-in-water (O/W) microemulsions are prepared on the basis of the Ca-S surfactant and are applied to the remediation of oil-contaminated soil under low-energy conditions at ambient temperature.

The mineral content, vitamin C, and chlorogenic acid were determined in 44 genotypes of Andean potatoes reintroduced in the Quebrada de Humahuaca, Jujuy, Argentina. This initiative aims to promote biodiversity and support local producers by determining the nutritional and functional properties of these genotypes. The genotypes from a collection in the Germplasm Bank of INTA Balcarce, were planted in sandy clay loam soils and harvested manually.

Herein, we describe a case where a male was found deceased with Streptococcus pyogenes meningitis 7 days after experiencing head trauma inflicted with a tow chain. Computed tomography scan prior to death revealed a scalp laceration with subcutaneous gas and a subdural hematoma.

Herein, we developed an construction strategy to fabricate a self-retaining double-layered wound dressing, where the top layer precursor was composed of Ca-containing polyvinyl butyral (PVB) solution dispersed with hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) particles, and the bottom one consisted of sodium alginate (Alg) solution blended with Ag-doped mesoporous bioactive glass powders (Ag-MBG). When in use, both precursors were simultaneously squeezed out from the twin nozzles connected to the individual chambers of a twin-chambered syringe, whereby Ca in the top layer rapidly migrated downwards to crosslink Alg in the bottom layer, leading to the formation of an Alg/Ag-MBG (AA) functional hydrogel for filling an irregular wound.
