Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder where pathophysiological changes begin decades before the onset of clinical symptoms. Analysis of brain atrophy patterns using structural MRI and multivariate data analysis are an effective tool in identifying patients with subjective cognitive decline (SCD) at higher risk of progression to AD dementia. Atrophy patterns obtained from models trained to classify advanced AD versus normal subjects, may not be optimal for subjects at an early stage, like SCD.

This study took a consumer sensory perspective to investigate the relationship between taste components and consumers’ preferences and emotions. Abdomen meat (M), hepatopancreas (H), and gonads (G) of Chinese mitten crabs, one from Chongming, the Jianghai 21 variety (C-JH), and two from Taixing, the Jianghai 21 (T-JH) and Yangtze II varieties (T-CJ), were used to evaluate flavor quality. The results indicated that in the abdomen meat, differences in taste components were mainly shown in the content of sweet amino acids, bitter amino acids, K+, and Ca2+; M-C-JH had the highest EUC value of 9.

Background: The potential benefits of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), applied either alone or as a combination treatment, on recovery of lower limbs after stroke have been insufficiently studied.

Objective: The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of priming with 1-Hz repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation over contralesional leg motor area with a double-cone coil before physical therapy on regaining ambulation.

Methods: Thirty-eight subacute stroke patients with significant leg disabilities were randomly assigned into the experimental group or control group to receive a 15-min real or sham 1-Hz repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation, respectively, over the contralesional motor cortex representing the quadriceps muscle followed by 45-min physical therapy for 15 sessions for 3 wks.

The major issue in selecting patients for transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) lies in determining the optimal number of TACE sessions that may benefit patients before switching to other therapies. The ART (Assessment for Retreatment with Transarterial chemoembolization) score was recently developed to determine patients who may benefit from multiple sessions of TACE for treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma.
