Aim: In this study, we evaluated the carcinostatic effects of combined ascorbic acid (AsA) and a capacitive-resistive electric transfer (CRet) hyperthermic apparatus-induced hyperthermic treatment on Ehrlich ascites tumor (EAT) cells.
Materials And Methods: EAT cells were exposed to various AsA (0-10 mM) concentrations for 1 h; they subsequently underwent CRet treatment for 15 min at 42 °C. Cell viability was assessed by the WST-8 assay 24 h after the combined treatment.

We prepared nano-bubble hydrogen-dissolved water (nano-H water) which contained hydrogen nano-bubbles of <717-nm diameter for 54% of total bubbles. In the DMPO-spin trap electron spin resonance (ESR) method, the DMPO-OH:MnO ratio, being attributed to amounts of hydroxyl radicals (OH), was 2.78 for pure water (dissolved hydrogen [DH]≤0.

Aims: To explore the carcinostatic effects of platinum nanocolloid (Pt-nc) combined with gamma rays on human esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC).
Main Methods: ESCC-derived KYSE-70 cells were treated with various concentrations of Pt-nc and/or gamma irradiation, and subsequently cultured in phenol red free DMEM with 10% FBS for 48 h. The proliferative status of the KYSE-70 cells was evaluated using trypan blue dye exclusion and WST-8 assays.

A water-soluble complex of fullerene [C60]:polyethylene glycol (PEG) (1:350 wt/wt) (C60-PEG), but not PEG alone, was found in the present study by ESR/DMPO spin-trap method to generate hydroxyl radicals 6.5-fold as abundant as the non-irradiation level, when irradiated with visible light (400-600 nm, 140 J/cm(2): 450-fold as intense as in average outdoor), but not to generate without irradiation. At 3 h after irradiation with C60-PEG, human fibrosarcoma cells HT1080 were obviously degenerated together with diminished microvilli, cell shrinkage and cell fragmentation as observed by SEM and were shown either for increased cytotoxicity by dual stains with calcein-AM and propidium iodide or for nuclear condensation and fragmentation by Hoechst 33342 stain, any of which were, in contrast, scarcely changed in normal human fibroblastic cells DUMS16 derived from the same connective tissue type as HT1080 cells.

Background: Pressure ulcer (PU) is common in immobile elderly patients, and there are some research works to investigate a preventive and curative method, but not to find sufficient effectiveness. The aim of this study is to clarify the clinical effectiveness on wound healing in patients with PU by hydrogen-dissolved water (HW) intake via tube-feeding (TF). Furthermore, normal human dermal fibroblasts OUMS-36 and normal human epidermis-derived cell line HaCaT keratinocytes were examined in vitro to explore the mechanisms relating to whether hydrogen plays a role in wound-healing at the cellular level.

Adopting bibliometrics research methods to categorize and analyze the acupuncture scientific research findings which has been published by the KAKEN Database of Grants-In-Aid for Scientific Research, and moreover compared results from some of the winning national research projects published by the Internet-based Science Information System of China in 2011. Upon evaluation, it is found that the applied logic of Japanese acupuncture academia is clearer and the fixed position is more accurate. The achivments and academic thought of Japan acup-mox cirde will in some way inspire the acupuncture researchers in China regarding project selection and help them to avoid invalid or duplicate research.

The purpose of this study was to verify the applicability of measurement of slice thickness of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) by the delta method, and to discuss the measurement precision by the disk diameter and baseline setup of the slice profile of the delta method. The delta method used the phantom which put in the disk made of acrylic plastic. The delta method measured the full width at half maximum (FWHM) and the full width at tenth maximum (FWTM) from the slice profile of the disk signal.

In the 5th year of the Longqing Period (1571) of the Ming Dynasty, with the abolishment of the Massage and Zhuyou Departments (the latter with a primitive witch doctor, who was dominant in administering incantations, prayers, fortune telling and medicine), the number of departments of the Imperial Academy of Medicine was reduced from thirteen to eleven. In the Jiaqing Period, Taoists occupied some positions in the Imperial Academy of Medicine. Some of them became imperial doctors or even the president, which resulted in Emperor Jiaqing pursuing immortality and neglecting duty on national affairs for more than 20 years.

The ancient Japanese bone-setting therapy originated from the ancient Chinese bone-setting therapy. This paper gave an introduction to three works published in Edo-period of Japan. Each of them has been regarded as the cornerstone of the Japanese bone-setting therapy: KOUSHI Houyoku Honetsugiryojichouhouki (1746), YOSHIHARA Motomune Kyoinsaiseikotsuyouketsu (1789-1800) and NINOMIYA Genka Seikotsuhan (1808).

Dr. KIM Bonghan in North Korea in 1963 proclaimed that he discovered the physical structure of the acupoints and meridian systems which were corresponding to the Bonghan Corpuscles and Bonghan Ducts. The original discovery could not be replicated by other international researchers; therefore, it was neglected as a pseudoscience for years.
