Comparison of treatment results between microvascular decompression and gamma knife radiosurgery in primary trigeminal neuralgia.

This study aims to analyze and evaluate the comparative clinical outcomes associated with microvascular decompression (MVD) and gamma knife radiosurgery (GKRS), focusing on pain relief, pain recurrence, and complications encountered in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia (TN). Among 155 surgical procedures performed for TN (90 GKRS, and 65 MVD) between March 1997 and December 2020, the exclusion criteria encompassed prior surgical interventions, the presence of other pathological conditions such as tumors, vascular diseases, and multiple sclerosis, as well as patients who were lost to follow-up. Ultimately, 101 patients received their initial treatment for primary TN (47 GKRS, and 54 MVD) and were followed up for more than 1 year.

Change of Sacral Slope according to the Surgical Position in Total Hip Arthroplasty.

Purpose: Pelvis tilting in sagittal plane influences the acetabular cup position. Majority of total hip arthroplasty (THA) are performed in lateral decubitus surgical position. This study is to assess whether there is any difference in sacral slope between standing and lateral decubitus position and influence of this variation in planning acetabular cup anteversion.

Long-Term Outcomes of High-Flexion Design Total Knee Arthroplasty with a Short Posterior Flange.

Background: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical and radiological outcomes of high-flexion total knee arthroplasty (TKA) using Vega Knee System (B. Braun, Aesculap) at a long-term follow-up and to analyze the implant survivorship.

Methods: We enrolled 165 patients (232 knees) with a minimum 7-year follow-up after TKA (VEGA Knee System).

Returning to golf after rotator cuff repair.

Background: The prevalence of rotator cuff repair is increasing; however, no study has assessed patients who have returned to golf activity after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair.

Methods: The subjects of the survey were 633 patients who were at least two years postoperative after rotator cuff repair from January 2005 to December 2017. From August 2019 to October 2019, survey responses were collected via an online questionnaire or phone calls and a total of 197 patients were reviewed retrospectively to study about returning to golf after rotator cuff repair.

Surgical outcome of minimal invasive oblique lateral interbody fusion with percutaneous pedicle screw fixation in the treatment of adult degenerative scoliosis.

Oblique lateral interbody fusion is performed for lumbar spinal restoration and stabilization, without extensive paraspinal muscle damage or massive bleeding. This study aimed to confirm the radiological and clinical outcomes of minimally invasive oblique lateral interbody fusion (OLIF) with percutaneous pedicle screw fixation (PPSF) as treatment for adult degenerative lumbar scoliosis. Medical records of 40 patients with degenerative lumbar spinal deformities who underwent selective OLIF and PPSF at our hospital between April 2018 and February 2021 were retrospectively reviewed.

Foraminal Restenosis After Posterior Cervical Foraminotomy for the Treatment of Cervical Radiculopathy.

Usefulness of Synthetic Osteoconductive Bone Graft Substitute with Zeta Potential Control for Intramedullary Fixation with Proximal Femur Nail Antirotation in Osteoporotic Unstable Femoral Intertrochanteric Fracture.

Purpose: This study was conducted in order to examine the usefulness of osteoconductive bone substitutes with zeta potential control (geneX® ds; Biocomposites, England) by comparing the complications and radiographic evaluation with or without geneX® ds augmentation for internal fixation with proximal femur nail antirotation (PFNA) for treatment of osteoporotic unstable intertrochanteric fractures.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective study of 101 patients who underwent fixation with PFNA in osteoporotic unstable intertrochanteric fractures was conducted from December 2015 to August 2020. The radiographic evaluation and complication rates were compared between patients with geneX® ds (Group A: 41 cases) and those without geneX® ds (Group B: 60 cases).

Background: The aim of this study is to compare the postoperative analgesic effect of infiltration between the popliteal artery and the capsule of the knee (IPACK) and the effect of periarticular multimodal drug injection (PMDI) in addition to adductor canal block (ACB) after total knee arthroplasty.

Methods: Among patients who received total knee arthroplasty from June 2017 to December 2017, 50 who underwent ACB with additional IPACK and 50 who received ACB with additional PMDI were selected for this study. We compared the postoperative pain numerical rating scale (NRS), the number of times patient-controlled analgesia was administered and the amount administered, the total amount of opioids given, and complications associated with the procedure between the two groups.

Background And Study Aims/objective:  Clinical outcomes of percutaneous endoscopic lumbar foraminoplasty (PELF) performed for lumbar foraminal stenosis (LFS) have been reported in the literature. However, no study has reported the radiographic changes in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) after surgery. This report presents the clinical outcome as well as radiographic changes in MRI after PELF for elderly patients with unilateral radiculopathy.

An Intra-articular Steroid Injection at 6 Weeks Postoperatively for Shoulder Stiffness After Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair Does Not Affect Repair Integrity.

Background: Shoulder stiffness is a common complication after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. However, there is no consensus on the treatment of stiffness after repair. Although one treatment option is an intra-articular steroid injection, it may negatively affect repair integrity, and there is a paucity of literature regarding the timing of intra-articular injections for stiffness after repair and its effect on repair integrity.

Arthroscopic Resection of Osteochondroma of Hip Joint Associated with Internal Snapping: A Case Report.

A 16-year old male patient visited the hospital complaining of inguinal pain and internal snapping of right hip joint. In physical examination, the patient was presumed to be diagnosed femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) and acetabular labral tear. In radiologic evaluation, FAI and acetabular labral tear were identified and bony tumor associated with internal snapping was found on the posteromedial portion of the femoral neck.
