Purpose: To evaluate the predictive factors of neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) with poor response to three loading doses of intravitreal bevacizumab (IVB).

Methods: A retrospective cohort study was performed on nAMD patients three loading IVB initial treatment. The patients were divided into two groups, without residual fluid on optical coherence tomography (OCT) images (Group 1) and with residual fluid (Group 2).

Tectonic and Therapeutic Urgent Penetrating Keratoplasty Outcomes.

Objectives: It was aimed to to provide a comprehensive assessment of therapeutic and tectonic emergency keratoplasty procedures, along with a discussion on their indications, prognostic factors for functional success, and postoperative outcomes.

Methods: Patients who underwent therapeutic or tectonic Penetrating Keratoplasty (PKP) procedures between 2010 to 2021 in our hospital were retrospectively reviewed. Patient files were evaluated in terms of demographic characteristics, medical and ocular history, visual acuity, initial ocular findings, presence of glaucoma, causative microorganisms, details of surgical procedures, complications, graft transparency and globe integrity.

Inflammatory parameters in NSCLC with driver mutation.

Relationship between platelet-related parameters and new-onset atrial fibrillation after coronary bypass surgery.

Objective: Inflammation plays a key role in the pathogenesis of postoperative atrial fibrillation after coronary artery bypass graft surgery. In this study, we aimed to investigate the changes in mean platelet volume and platelet values during the spring and autumn seasons in patients who underwent isolated coronary artery bypass graft surgery and the possible effect of these occurrences on postoperative atrial fibrillation.

Methods: Consecutive patients who underwent elective isolated coronary bypass surgery at our clinic in the spring and autumn months, between August 2020 and July 2022, were retrospectively included in this study.

Objective: Cerebrotendinous xanthomatosis (CTX) is an inherited metabolic disorder characterized by progressive neurologic and extraneurologic findings. The aim of this retrospective, descriptive study was to explore the time of presentation and diagnosis, and to expand the phenotype and genotype of CTX, based on a nationwide and comprehensive series of patients in Turkey.

Background: This study aims to investigate the validity and reliability of the Turkish adaptation of the 16-item Risk of Relapse Assessment Scale (RRAS) for methamphetamine abusers.

Methods: A total of 160 patients diagnosed with methamphetamine use disorder were included in this study to evaluate the validity and reliability of the scale. The comparison of the relationship between the Risk of Relapse Assessment Scale, the Substance Craving Scale, and the Relapse Prediction Scale was also carried out.

Breast arterial calcification is associated with sarcopenia in peri- and post-menopausal women.

Purpose: Breast arterial calcification (BAC) refers to medial calcium deposition in breast arteries and is detectable via mammography. Sarcopenia, which is characterised by low skeletal muscle mass and quality, is associated with several serious clinical conditions, increased morbidity, and mortality. Both BAC and sarcopenia share common pathologic pathways, including ageing, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease.

Orbital doppler ultrasound as an ancillary test for diagnosing brain death: A prospective, single blind comparative study.

Objective: Transcranial Doppler ultrasound (TDUS), computed tomography angiography (CTA), and transcranial Doppler ultrasound to detect cerebral blood flow are among the adjunctive tests in diagnosing brain death. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of orbital doppler ultrasound (ODUS).

Methods: This prospective, single-blind study included 66 patients for whom brain death was to be diagnosed.

Abuse and Neglect of Children With Specific Learning Disorders in Türkiye: A Case-Control Study.

Background: Although it is often stated that children with special needs are at risk of being abused and neglected, research conducted on the abuse of children with specific learning disorders (SLDs) is limited.

Methods: This case-control study aims to compare exposure to neglect and abuse among children diagnosed with SLDs (case group) and children with typical development (control group). The study included children aged 6 to 12 years who were referred to the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic and Pediatric Clinic of a hospital in Türkiye.

Serum myeloperoxidase, paraoxonase, and plasma asprosin concentrations in patients with acute myocardial infarction.

Introduction: The objective of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of the serum biomarkers myeloperoxidase (MPO), paraoxonase (PON), and plasma asprosin in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) diagnosis and assess their compatibility with routinely screened cardiac biomarkers.

Methods: This study was conducted using a prospective cross-sectional design and included 90 patients, consisting of 60 patients diagnosed with AMI (30 with ST-segment elevation and 30 with non-ST-segment elevation on ECG) and 30 controls (without a diagnosis of AMI). Changes in the levels of cardiac biomarkers (Hs-cTnI, CK, CK-MB), lipid profile (TC, TG, LDL, HDL), MPO, PON, asprosin, and routine biochemical parameters of patients were evaluated.
