Purpose: In advanced breast cancer, endocrine therapy is preferred in the absence of visceral crisis. Cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors (CDKi) are the gold standards. The selection of subsequent treatments after CDKi treatment is still controversial, and the efficacy of everolimus (EVE) combinations is unknown.

Psoriasis is a common multisystem inflammatory disease, and arthritis is an essential component of the disorder, requiring early diagnosis and prompt treatment for successful management. In this study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between nail and scalp involvement and other covariates with psoriatic arthritis (PsA). This cross-sectional study, conducted from June 2021 through December 2021, included 763 patients from 11 different centers in Turkey.

Introduction: The objective of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of the serum biomarkers myeloperoxidase (MPO), paraoxonase (PON), and plasma asprosin in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) diagnosis and assess their compatibility with routinely screened cardiac biomarkers.
Methods: This study was conducted using a prospective cross-sectional design and included 90 patients, consisting of 60 patients diagnosed with AMI (30 with ST-segment elevation and 30 with non-ST-segment elevation on ECG) and 30 controls (without a diagnosis of AMI). Changes in the levels of cardiac biomarkers (Hs-cTnI, CK, CK-MB), lipid profile (TC, TG, LDL, HDL), MPO, PON, asprosin, and routine biochemical parameters of patients were evaluated.

Background: Cardiac surgery has been associated with adverse ocular events. Off-pump coronary artery bypass graft surgery evades the systemic inflammatory response seen in extracorporeal circulation and is superior to on-pump surgery with regard to end-organ dysfunction and neurological outcomes.
Objectives: To determine the effects of off-pump (without extracorporeal circulation) coronary artery bypass graft surgery on choroidal thickness, ganglion cell complex, and the retinal nerve fiber layer.

Background: The use of cerebral oximetry monitoring in the care of extremely preterm infants is increasing. However, evidence that its use improves clinical outcomes is lacking.
Methods: In this randomized, phase 3 trial conducted at 70 sites in 17 countries, we assigned extremely preterm infants (gestational age, <28 weeks), within 6 hours after birth, to receive treatment guided by cerebral oximetry monitoring for the first 72 hours after birth or to receive usual care.

Objective: Studies have shown that obesity is an independent risk factor for the development of atrial fibrillation (AF). Body Mass Index (BMI) and waist circumference (WC) have become accepted indicators of obesity. However, BMI is not sufficient to locate the fat-muscle distribution pattern and the fat-muscle ratio of the body.

Aim: Our study aimed to investigate the predictive values of inflammation markers in predicting postoperative saphenous vein graft patency in patients who underwent coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG).
Method: We retrospectively analyzed 89 patients who undergone CABG, and 49 patients diagnosed with non-critical coronary artery disease (less than ≤50% stenosis) on coronary angiography were included in the study as a control group. Eighty-nine patients who underwent CABG were divided into two groups according to the presence of 50% or more stenosis in saphenous vein grafts.

Introduction: Osimertinib, an irreversible third-generation EGFR-TKI, is the standard of care for second-line treatment of T790M-mutant advanced NSCLC patients whose disease progressed after first-line EGFR-TKI therapy. In this multicenter study, we aimed to determine the real-life efficacy and safety of Osimertinib in pretreated advanced NSCLC patients with T790M mutation.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective trial included advanced T790M-mutant pretreated NSCLC patients who received Osimertinib from 24 different centers in Turkey.

The screening test for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) disease 2019 (COVID-19) has not been performed in healthcare workers (HCWs) yet, although HCWs are at a high risk of infection. COVID-19 is detected in 5%-15% of HCWs according to published studies. Nevertheless, it may be higher than the rates indicated in published studies.

Introduction: Risk stratification based on biochemical variables is a useful tool for monitoring ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA)-treated patients with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC). Several UDCA response criteria and scoring systems have been proposed for risk prediction in PBC, but these have not been validated in large external cohorts.
Methods: We performed a study on data of 1746 UDCA-treated patients with PBC from 25 centers in Europe, United States, and Canada.

Maturity onset diabetes is a genetic form of diabetes mellitus characterized by an early age at onset and several etiologic genes for this form of diabetes have been identified in many patients. Maturity onset diabetes type 2 [MODY2 (#125851)] caused by mutations in the glucokinase gene (GCK). Although its prevalence is not clear, it is estimated that 1%-2% of patients with diabetes have the monogenic form.

Objective: We aimed to investigate the short-term effect of laparoscopic surgery on serum thiol-disulfide homeostasis levels as a marker of oxidant stress of surgical trauma in elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy patients.
Materials And Methods: Venous blood samples were collected, and levels of native thiols, total thiols, and disulfides were determined with a novel automated assay. Total antioxidant capacity (measured as the ferric-reducing ability of plasma) and serum ischemia modified albumin, expressed as absorbance units assayed by the albumin cobalt binding test, were determined.

Introduction: With new developments in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), such as the introduction of bioresorbable scaffolds (BRS), percutaneous treatment of coronary artery diseases has entered a new era. Without metallic remnants, BRSs appear able to overcome several limitations of the existing metallic stents and provide a physiologic treatment of coronary artery pathology.
Areas Covered: BRS have different mechanical properties compared to the traditional metallic stents that should be taken into account during their implantation.

Drug eluting stents and particularly the fully bioresorbable drug-eluting scaffolds herald a new era in percutaneous treatment of coronary artery disease. There has been tremendous progress in drug eluting stents with fully biodegradable coating polymers and polymer-free devices with reservoir technology planting the anti-proliferative drug. Despite significant decreases in in-stent restenosis rates with drug eluting stents, limitations still remain before we are able to develop fully bioresorbable scaffolds.
