The article presents scientific evidence that new neurons from progenitor cells throughout life in almost all animals with a nervous system are an integral component of neuronal ontogenesis and plasticity. It has been shown that there are neural stem cells in the brain that give rise to adult neurogenesis, occurring primarily in the dentate gyrus, a subregion of the hippocampus important for learning, memory, and emotion. With age, there is a decrease in adult neurogenesis, which is associated with a decrease in cognitive functions.

The widespread use in today's world of radioactive sources d in energy, medicine, engineering and construction, for contaminant tracking and food sterilization increases the likelihood of accidental exposure. The use of ionizing radiation and radioactive elements can directly or indirectly cause life-threatening complications, such as oncopathology, radiation burns, and impaired immunity. Pollution of the environment with radioactive elements and depletion of the ozone layer also contribute to an increase in the level of radiation exposure.

High-energy accelerators are often used in oncological practice, but the information on the small-field dosimetry for the photon beams with nominal energy above 10 MV is limited. The goal of the present work was to determine the values of the output correction factor ( ) for solid-state detectors (Diode E, PTW 60017; microDiamond, PTW 60019), EBT3 film, and ionization chambers (Semiflex, PTW 31010; Semiflex 3D, PTW 31021; PinPoint, PTW 31015; PinPoint 3D, PTW 31016) in the small fields formed by 10, 15, 18, and 20 MV photon beams. The output correction factors were calculated by Monte-Carlo method using EGSnrc toolkit for six field sizes (from to ) for isocentric and constant source-to-surface distance (SSD) techniques.

Unlabelled: Rehabilitation of patients after total knee arthroplasty is still a challenge for modern medicine. At the same time, there are few publications in the medical literature on rehabilitation programs for patients after total knee arthroplasty. Available scientific studies have proven the effectiveness of low-intensity laser therapy and a pulsed low-frequency electrostatic field (PLFEF) in tissue repair by modulating the inflammatory process and relieving pain.

The present review examines the use of chemiluminescence detection to evaluate the course of free radical reactions in biological model systems. The application of the method is analyzed by using luminescent additives that enhance the luminescence thanks to a triplet-singlet transfer of the electron excitation energy from radical reaction products and its emission in the form of light with a high quantum yield; these additives are called chemiluminescence enhancers or activators. Examples of these substances are provided; differences between the so-called chemical and physical enhancers are described; coumarin derivatives, as the most promising chemiluminescence enhancers for studying lipid peroxidation, are considered in detail.

Bone grafting and reconstruction are still challenging in clinical practice because of the limitations of bone autografts and the drawbacks of currently approved bone substitutes. We thus developed a gene-activated bone substitute based on octacalcium phosphate and naked plasmid DNA carrying the vascular endothelial growth factor gene. This advanced combined therapy medicinal product had no cytotoxic effects , slightly decreased bone marrow mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC) doubling time, and was characterized by a prolonged level of gene construct delivery in a luciferase bioimaging assay.

The aim of the study was the development of three-dimensional (3D) printed gene-activated implants based on octacalcium phosphate (OCP) and plasmid DNA encoding . The first objective of the present work involved design and fabrication of gene-activated bone substitutes based on the OCP and plasmid DNA with gene using 3D printing approach of ceramic constructs, providing the control of its architectonics compliance to the initial digital models. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and compressive strength analyses were applied to investigate the chemical composition, microstructure, and mechanical properties of the experimental samples.

The experiments on mice showed that subchronic food restriction to 40 and 8% of unrestricted ration is a strong stressor inducing devastation of lymphoid organs, primarily the thymus and spleen. The mice in the group with severe food restriction (8% of normal ration) demonstrated increased front paw grip force. We also observed an increase in spontaneous motor activity in these animals correlated with food restriction.

We used 183 F1 CBA×C57Bl hybrid mice to study the delayed effects of low-power long-term γ-irradiation at a dose of 12.6 Gy (10 mGy/min) 8 and 10 months after the treatment. Eight months after the treatment we found the increased expression of the transcription factor NFκB and its target genes iNOS and G-SCF in the bone marrow (BM).
