Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is challenging to treat because of its lack of specific molecular targets. The IMMUNOPEG study aimed to evaluate a novel structured method for interpreting TNBC immunohistochemistry specimens processed with VENTANA PD-L1 (SP142) assay. The study involved 10 pathologists who evaluated 50 different immunohistochemistry specimens of TNBC with programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression considered challenging and that were previously evaluated by the scientific committee, using the NAVIFY Digital Pathology platform.

Josefa González-Santos, PT, PhD, is Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Burgos, Burgos, Spain.
Background: The Zero Surgical Infection Project (ZSIP) in Spain is a nation-wide program to prevent surgical site infections (SSI), sponsored by the Ministry of Health. The program includes the application of 5 key preventive measures (PM) grouped in a bundle: Perioperative antibiotic prophylaxis (PAP), skin antisepsis (SA), hair removal (HR), normothermia (NT) and normoglycemia (NG).
Aim: To assess the effectiveness of the bundle of 5 ZSIP preventive measures, applied in a set of Spanish public hospitals over the period 2017-2021, under standard conditions of surgical healthcare in Spain.

Purpose: To retrospectively analyze the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the diagnosis, mortality rate, and survival period of malignant bronchial and lung neoplasms in the Burgos region, with the aim of promoting the development of strategies to improve cancer care management during health crises, highlighting the importance of non-pharmacological approaches to mitigate the negative impacts of future pandemics on lung cancer patients.
Methods: This retrospective, longitudinal, single-center study was conducted in Burgos from 2019 to 2021. Participants included all patients diagnosed with malignant bronchial and lung neoplasms by the Pneumology unit of Complejo Asistencial Universitario de Burgos during the year immediately before and the year immediately after 31 March 2020, the official start date of the pandemic.

Background: Telemonitoring for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has not consistently demonstrated superiority over standard care; however, noninferiority may be an acceptable outcome if remote care proves to be more efficient.
Objective: This study aims to compare the remission time and quality of life of patients with active IBD managed through standard care versus the TECCU (Telemonitoring of Crohn Disease and Ulcerative Colitis) app.
Methods: A 2-arm, randomized, multicenter trial with a noninferiority design was conducted across 24 hospitals in Spain.

Background: People with secondary progressive multiple sclerosis (pwSPMS) experience increasing disability, which impacts negatively on their health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Our aims were to assess the impact of secondary progressive multiple sclerosis (SPMS) on functional status and HRQoL and describe the clinical profile in this population.
Methods: DISCOVER is an observational, cross-sectional, multicenter study with retrospective data collection in real-world clinical practice in Spain.

Introduction: Coagulopathy associated with isolated traumatic brain injury (C-iTBI) is a frequent complication associated with poor outcomes, primarily due to its role in the development or progression of haemorrhagic brain lesions. The independent risk factors for its onset are age, severity of traumatic brain injury (TBI), volume of fluids administered during resuscitation, and pre-injury use of antithrombotic drugs. Although the pathophysiology of C-iTBI has not been fully elucidated, two distinct stages have been identified: an initial hypocoagulable phase that begins within the first 24 h, dominated by platelet dysfunction and hyperfibrinolysis, followed by a hypercoagulable state that generally starts 72 h after the trauma.

Background And Aims: Cancer predisposition goes beyond BRCA and DNA Mismatch Repair (MMR) genes since multi-gene panel testing has become the routine diagnostic tool for hereditary cancer suspicion (HCS) cases. CHEK2 and PALB2 are some of the foremost-mutated non-BRCA/MMR actionable genes in families with a significant familial aggregation. Therefore, the purpose of this work is to unravel which tumours other than breast, ovary or colorectal display the patients.

Background: In order to be used safely, accurately and reliably, measuring instruments in the health field must first be validated, for which the study of their psychometric properties is necessary. The Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB) tool is a widely used clinical assessment test that has been approved for usage across several nations, languages and demographics. Finding SPPB's psychometric properties for a sample of institutionalized older individuals is the aim of this research.

Background: Brain tumors represent the most common cause of cancer-related death in children. Few studies concerning the palliative phase in children with brain tumors are available.
Objectives: (i) To describe the palliative phase in children with brain tumors; (ii) to determine whether the use of palliative sedation (PS) depends on the place of death, the age of the patient, or if they received specific palliative care (PC).

Context.—: The neurotrophic tropomyosin receptor kinase (NTRK) family gene rearrangements have been recently incorporated as predictive biomarkers in a "tumor-agnostic" manner. However, the identification of these patients is extremely challenging because the overall frequency of NTRK fusions is below 1%.

Heart failure is a disease with an increasingly greater prevalence due to the aging population, the development of new drugs, and the organization of healthcare processes. Malnutrition has been identified as a poor prognostic factor in these patients, very often linked to frailty or to other comorbidities, meaning that early diagnosis and treatment are essential. This paper reviews some important aspects of the pathophysiology, detection, and management of malnutrition in patients with heart failure.

Background: Massive infarction in adults is a devastating entity characterized by signs of extreme swelling of the brain's parenchyma. We explored whether a similar entity exists in neonates, which we call massive neonatal arterial ischemic stroke (M-NAIS), and assess its potential clinical implications.
Methods: Prospective multicenter cohort study comprising 48 neonates with gestational age ≥35 weeks with middle cerebral artery (MCA) NAIS was performed.
It is currently unclear which patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) are at increased cardiovascular risk. To investigate the value of pulse wave amplitude drops (PWADs), reflecting sympathetic activations and vasoreactivity, as a biomarker of cardiovascular risk in OSA. PWADs were derived from pulse oximetry-based photoplethysmography signals in three prospective cohorts: HypnoLaus ( = 1,941), the Pays-de-la-Loire Sleep Cohort (PLSC; = 6,367), and "Impact of Sleep Apnea syndrome in the evolution of Acute Coronary syndrome.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a chronic, neurodegenerative movement disorder, whose symptoms have a negative impact on quality of life and functionality. Although its main treatment is pharmacological, non-pharmacological aids such as the dynamic elastomeric fabric orthosis (DEFO) merit an evaluation. Our objective is to assess the DEFO in upper limb (UL) functional mobility and in the quality of life of PD patients.

Purpose: Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and cardiac conduction disorders are pathologies with a rising prevalence due to increased life expectancy. Upper airway patency is affected by environmental factors that may be associated with seasonal periods. The ability to record the degree of nocturnal apnoea on a daily basis may provide a more accurate picture of seasonal variability.

Accelerometers can estimate the intensity, frequency, and duration of physical activity in healthy adults. Although thresholds to distinguish varying levels of activity intensity using the Actigraph wGT3X-B have been established for the general population, their accuracy for Huntington's disease (HD) is unknown. We aimed to define and cross-validate accelerometer cut-points for different walking speeds in adults with mild to moderate HD.
