Genetic engineering of plant cell walls is limited for reducing lignocellulose recalcitrance, so mild and/or green-like pretreatment is still required for sequential enzymatic saccharification. Here, we report a method to reduce lignin content in sugarcane stalks using the CRISPR/Cas 9 technique. Three target sequences of SoLIM were designed and fused to pRGEB32.

Algae of the order Cladophorales are the source of a unique nanocellulose with high crystallinity and a large aspect ratio, enabling broad surface modification. Cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) are obtained via acid hydrolysis of nanocellulose, which is highly crystalline. However, the production of CNCs from Cladophorales algae is limited and still uses a conventional heating method.

NAD -dependent formate dehydrogenase (FDH) catalyzes the conversion of formate and NAD to produce carbon dioxide and NADH. The reaction is biotechnologically important because FDH is widely used for NADH regeneration in various enzymatic syntheses. However, major drawbacks of this versatile enzyme in industrial applications are its low activity, requiring its utilization in large amounts to achieve optimal process conditions.

Introduction: Chitosan nanoparticles have garnered considerable interest in the field of drug delivery owing to their distinctive properties, including biocompatibility, biodegradability, low toxicity, and ability to encapsulate a wide range of drugs. However, the conventional methods (eg, the drop method) for synthesizing chitosan nanoparticles often face limitations in regard to controlling the particle size, morphology, and scalability, hindering their extensive application in drug delivery systems. To overcome these challenges, this study explores using a novel flow chemistry reactor design for fabricating clindamycin-loaded chitosan nanoparticles.

Preeclampsia is a pregnancy-specific disorder, and it is a leading cause of maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. The application of pharmacogenetics to antihypertensive agents and dose selection in women with preeclampsia is still in its infancy. No current prescribing guidelines from the clinical pharmacogenetics implementation consortium (CPIC) exist for preeclampsia.

Small organic molecules in the intestinal lumen, particularly short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) and glucose, have long been postulated to enhance calcium absorption. Here, we used Ca radioactive tracer to determine calcium fluxes across the rat intestine after exposure to glucose and SCFAs. Confirming previous reports, glucose was found to increase the apical-to-basolateral calcium flux in the cecum.

Due to the growing demand for livestock products both within the country and in foreign markets, there is a need to boost the production of maize-based animal feed in Thailand. However, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and the potential for reducing these emissions through the production of various types of animal feed remain ambiguous. Thus, this study is aimed at estimating GHG emissions from broiler, layer, and swine feed production in Thailand and identifying economic advantages of alternative methods to mitigate those emissions.

To reduce the cost of developing composite aeronautical structures, manufacturers and university researchers are increasingly using "virtual testing" methods. Then, finite element methods (FEMs) are intensively used to calculate mechanical behavior and to predict the damage to fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites under impact loading, which is a crucial design aspect for aeronautical composite structures. But these FEMs require a lot of knowledge and a significant number of IT resources to run.

The Neptune's cup sponge is an iconic species found in marine soft sediment habitats in the Indo-West Pacific, with a history of overharvesting and extreme population declines. Access to SCUBA diving surveys has allowed for its rediscovery at Singapore, its type locality; however, with fewer than ten living individuals documented in the twenty-first century, the species is believed to be in need of conservation. Here, we share the results from surveys across the Gulf of Thailand, allowing for a documentation of 29 additional individuals, with information on their ecology and distribution.
