Congenital diverticulum of the appendix as well as diverticulitis of the vermiform appendix remain a rare, mainly retrospective diagnosis, reported by the pathologist, post-appendicectomy. In clinical practice, however, it is important to be aware of this entity, the different types, diagnosis, association with malignancy and treatment options. We are presenting a young female case of pathologically proved true diverticulum of the appendix with associated uncomplicated appendicitis and an overview of the literature.

Objective: A shared care model was implemented in 2006 in Queensland to facilitate paediatric oncology, haematology and palliative care patients receiving care as close to home as possible. Following initial diagnosis, care planning and treatment at the tertiary children's hospital, appropriate local care was coordinated by Regional Case Managers (RCMs) established at each of 10 Shared Care Units (SCUs). This enabled safe and quality regional care supported by a statewide network providing clinical governance and education.

Liposome supported peritoneal dialysis is a recently described technique which may eventually be applicable in the clinical scenario of the intoxicated patient. We evaluated the hypothesis that intravenous injection of lipid emulsion (ILE) would augment acidic pH gradient liposome supported peritoneal dialysis (LSPD). Orogastrically amitriptyline dosed rats were treated with either Sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) intravenously and standard intraperitoneal dialysate (Group A); NaHCO3 intravenously and LSPD (Group B); or ILE and LSPD (Group C).

Introduction: Platelet rich plasma (PRP) has been suggested to be effective in the management of knee osteoarthritis. Review of current literature reveals conflicting evidence regarding the benefits of PRP in treating knee OA. Preclinical evidence supports the use of PRP injections to promote a favorable environment for joint tissue healing, targeting not only cartilage but also synovial and meniscal tissues which has a positive effect on delaying the progression of OA.
