Alternaria species (Deuteromycetes, Ascomycota) as ubiquitous fungi and prolific producers of a variety of toxic compounds are a part of microbiomes of plants, humans, and animals, mainly causing disease, allergic reactions, and toxicosis. However, some species have also been reported as endophytic microorganisms with highly bioactive metabolites. Our previous results indicate that potentially endophytic Alternaria species from Cupressaceae produce bioactive metabolites that possibly contribute to plant holobiont's health.

Surface-active ionic liquids (SAILs) have gained much attention due to their green, stable, and efficient properties. The high costs associated with SAILs have raised concerns in their applications; however, blending with conventional surfactants like sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS) can bring about desired outcomes. Gemini surface-active ionic liquids (GSAILs) have been recognized as more efficient surfactants.

Agrobacterium-mediated transformation is a preferred method for genetic engineering and genome editing of plants due to its numerous advantages, although not all species exhibit transformability. Genetic engineering and plant genome editing methods are technically challenging in recalcitrant crop plants. Factors affecting the poor rate of transformation in such species include host genotype, Agrobacterium genotype, type of explant, physiological condition of the explant, vector, selectable marker, inoculation method, chemical additives, antioxidative compounds, transformation-enhancing compounds, medium formulation, optimization of culture conditions, and pre-treatments.

Functionalization of FeO@SiO@SBA-3 with double-charged 3-chloropropyltrimethoxysilane (CPTMS) and 2-aminophenol, followed by mechanical mixing of the solid product with copper(i) chloride produces a new, greener and efficient FeO@SiO@SBA-3@2-ATP-Cu catalyst for the synthesis of 5-substituted 1-tetrazoles. XRD, SEM, atomic absorption, TGA, N adsorption-desorption, and VSM analyses were performed for the characterization of the FeO@SiO@SBA-3@2-ATP-Cu structure. Nitrogen adsorption-desorption analysis revealed that FeO@SiO@SBA-3@2-ATP-Cu has a surface area of 242 m g and a total pore volume of 55.

A potential DES catalyst for the fast and green synthesis of benzochromenopyrimidines and pyranopyrimidines.

Sci Rep

August 2024

Department of Organic Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry and Petroleum Sciences, Bu-Ali Sina University, Hamedan, 6517838683, Iran.

A gentisic acid based-Deep Eutectic Solvent (MTPPBr/GA-DES) was synthesized by mixing one mole of methyl triphenylphosphonium bromide (MTPPBr) and one mole of gentisic acid (GA: 2,5-dihydroxy-benzoic acid) based on the eutectic point phase diagram. Then, it was characterized by FT-IR, NMR, densitometer, and TGA/DTA techniques and used as a potent and novel catalyst for the fast and green synthesis of: (i) Five new 2(a-e) and five known 2(f-j) benzo[6,7]chromeno[2,3-d]pyrimidines and (ii) One new (3a) and eleven known 3(b-l) pyrano[2,3-d]pyrimidines, in solvent-free conditions, short reaction times, and high yields. It is important to mention that for the synthesis of 2(a-j), there is only one reference which states that the reaction times are extremely long (720-2400 min), while these times are reduced to approximately 35-50 min in our proposed strategy, indicatinging that the rate of reactions will be 20-48 times faster, which is the clear and most obvious advantage of our approach.

In this research, the efficiency of brushing (Br), dipping (Di), spraying (S), and enrobing (En) methods was compared in three concentrations of 10%, 15%, and 20% of corn zein (Z) edible coating containing 0.5% of essential oil (HEO) in the shelf-life improvement of whey-less cheese during 56 days of cold storage. The results of the photography and colorimetric (L*, a*, and b* parameters) of the samples showed that the En method in 20% of Z created a uniform, brilliant, and attractive surface on the cheese pieces compared to the other groups during the storage period, and the S, Br, and Di methods were in the next categories, respectively.

In the present study, we introduce a covalent organic triazine framework polymer (COTF-P) using 3,4,9,10-perylenetetracarboxylic dianhydride (PTCDA) with triazine-based amine. The resulting dark red COTF-P illustrated potential behavior as a photocatalyst under visible light. Due to the inadequate solar energy capture and ultrafast charge recombination of the resulting COTF-P, the prepared COTF-P has been decorated with CQDs (N-CQD and N-S-CQD) to build a Z-scheme CQDs/COTF-P heterojunction photocatalyst and utilizes as photocatalyst for the breakdown of phenanthrene (PHE) exposed to visible light.

The aim was to estimate the relative contribution of imprinting effects from both paternal and maternal sides to phenotypic variation in milk production traits including 305 days milk yield (MY), average daily milk production (ADM), fat percentage (F%), protein percentage (P%), 305 days fat yield (FY), 305 days protein yield (PY), ratio of fat percentage to protein percentage (F:P) and somatic cell score (SCS) in Iranian Holstein cows. To do this, each trait was analysed with a series of four animal models, which were identical for fixed and additive genetic effects but differed for combinations of paternal and maternal imprinting effects. The log-likelihood ratio test (LRT) and Akaike's information criteria (AIC) were used to select the best model for each trait.
