This paper presents a complex and extensive experimental evaluation of fine particle emissions released by an FDM 3D printer for four of the most common printing materials (ABS, PLA, PET-G, and TPU). These thermoplastic filaments were examined at three printing temperatures within their recommended range. In addition, these measurements were extended using various types of printing nozzles, which influenced the emissions considerably.

Combating the COVID-19 pandemic has raised the demand for and disposal of personal protective equipment in the United States. This work proposes a novel waste personal protective equipment processing system that enables energy recovery through producing renewable fuels and other basic chemicals. Exergy analysis and environmental assessment through a detailed life cycle assessment approach are performed to evaluate the energy and environmental sustainability of the processing system.

This study builds a neural network model to forecast plastic waste generation of the EU-27 in 2030 and evaluates how the interventions could mitigate the adverse impact of plastic waste on the environment. In recent years, nanocellulose-based materials have been increasingly applied as a lot of biosorbents for the treatment of water pollutants due to their large specific surface area, easy modification, environmental friendliness, and reproducibility. In this review, surface modification of nanocellulose-based adsorbents with various effective adsorption groups is described, as well as polymer grafting and hybrid composite fabrication. The adsorption mechanisms involved in the adsorption process of pollutants by adsorbents are further analysed and summarized.

Nowadays, the European municipal waste management policy based on the circular economy paradigm demands the closing of material and financial loops at all territorial levels of public administration. The effective planning of treatment capacities (especially sorting plants, recycling, and energy recovery facilities) and municipal waste management policy requires an accurate prognosis of municipal waste generation, and therefore, the knowledge of behavioral, socio-economic, and demographic factors influencing the waste management (and recycling) behavior of households, and other municipal waste producers. To enable public bodies at different territorial levels to undertake an effective action resulting in circular economy we evaluated various factors influencing the generation of municipal waste fractions at regional, micro-regional and municipal level in the Czech Republic.

Impacts of urban land morphology on PM concentration in the urban agglomerations of China.

Accurate understanding of the relationship between urban land morphology and the concentration of PM is essential for achieving high-quality development of urban agglomerations. Based on a mechanism framework of "Internal-External driving force", 19 Chinese urban agglomerations at different development levels were analysed using the geographically weighted regression model to evaluate the impacts of urban land morphology on PM concentrations in years 2000-2017. The results show: (1) The PM average concentrations of all 19 urban agglomerations continue to increase from 30 μg/m in 2000 to 52 μg/m in 2007 but decreased to 34 μg/m in 2017.

Asia-Pacific (APAC) has been the world's most dynamic emerging area of economic development and trade in recent decades. Here, we reveal the significant and imbalanced environmental and socio-economic effects of the region's growths during 1995-2015. Owing to the intra-regional trade of goods and services, APAC economies grew increasingly interdependent in each other's water and energy use, greenhouse gas (GHG) and PM emissions, and labor and economic productivity, while the environmental and economic disparity widened within the region.
