Background: Drug consumption rooms (DCRs) have been developed in cities with open drug scenes, with the aim to reduce drug-related harm. In Lyon, France's second-largest city, there is no distinct drug use area, which raised doubts regarding the need for a DCR.
Methods: We conducted a face-to-face survey of 264 people who use drugs (PWUDs), recruited in harm reduction or addiction treatment centers, in the streets or in squats.

Nonunion and adjacent joint osteoarthritis (OA) are known complications after a fusion procedure, and foot and ankle surgeons are commonly exposed to such disabling complications. Determining who is at risk of developing nonunion is essential to reducing nonunion rates and improving patient outcomes. Several evidenced-based modifiable risk factors related to adverse outcomes after foot and ankle arthrodesis have been identified.

Background: The Lapidus procedure corrects hallux valgus first ray deformity. First tarsometatarsal (TMT) fusion in patients with hallux valgus deformity using minimally invasive surgery (MIS) is a new technique, but comparative outcomes between MIS and open techniques have not been reported. This study compares the early radiographic results and complications of the MIS with the open procedure in a single-surgeon practice.

A distinct renal tumor has recently been described as "high-grade oncocytic renal tumor" and "sporadic renal cell carcinoma with eosinophilic and vacuolated cytoplasm". The Genitourinary Pathology Society (GUPS) consensus proposed a unifying name "eosinophilic vacuolated tumor" (EVT) for this emerging entity. In this multi-institutional study, we evaluated 19 EVTs, particularly their molecular features and mutation profile, using next-generation sequencing.

SETD1B is a component of a histone methyltransferase complex that specifically methylates Lys-4 of histone H3 (H3K4) and is responsible for the epigenetic control of chromatin structure and gene expression. De novo microdeletions encompassing this gene as well as de novo missense mutations were previously linked to syndromic intellectual disability (ID). Here, we identify a specific hypermethylation signature associated with loss of function mutations in the SETD1B gene which may be used as an epigenetic marker supporting the diagnosis of syndromic SETD1B-related diseases.

Introduction: The 2015 WHO classification of tumors categorized malignant mesothelioma into epithelioid, biphasic (BMM), and sarcomatoid (SMM) for prognostic relevance and treatment decisions. The survival of BMM is suspected to correlate with the amount of the sarcomatoid component. The criteria for a sarcomatoid component and the interobserver variability between pathologists for identifying this component are not well described.

Background: Child maltreatment is not included in Saudi medical schools and pediatric residency curriculums, which might limit knowledge and spread misconceptions. Additionally, physicians might have different attitudes regarding reporting child abuse and neglect. In this study, we hypothesize that medical students and pediatric trainees have limited knowledge, oblivious attitude and misbeliefs regarding child maltreatment in comparison to experienced pediatricians.

Background: Studies in children with chronic kidney disease indicate a high prevalence of masked hypertension detected by ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM). However, it is not well known if the frequency of masked hypertension is related to the level of normal casual blood pressure (BP).
Methods/results: We hypothesized that lower levels of normal casual BP are associated with a lower prevalence of masked hypertension.

Introduction: The aim of the study was to find factors associated with emphysema progression (EP), assessed on sequential thoracic CT scans, in a large cohort of HIV-positive patients.
Materials And Methods: This was an observational, prospective study of 448 consecutive HIV-positive patients on antiretroviral therapy who underwent two sequential ECG-gated coronary artery calcium scoring CT scans. Images were reviewed by three radiologists by consensus to assess lung emphysema using a visual semi-quantitative score (0 to 4) for each of six lobes.

A discursive exploration of the practices that shape and discipline nurses' responses to postoperative delirium Although delirium is classified as a medical emergency, it is often not treated as such by health care providers. The aim of this study was to critically examine, through a poststructural, Foucauldian concept of discourse, the language practices and discourses that shape and discipline nurses' care of older adults with postoperative delirium (POD) with a purpose to question accepted nursing practice. The study was based on data collected from face-to-face, in-depth, personal interviews with six nurses who work on an acute postoperative patient care unit.

Twenty-three patients with late onset argininosuccinate lyase deficiency (ASLD) were identified during a 27-year period of newborn screening in Austria (1:95,600, 95% CI=1:68,036-1:162,531). One additional patient was identified outside the newborn screening with neonatal hyperammonemia. Long-term outcome data were available in 17 patients (median age 13 years) ascertained by newborn screening.

We evaluated the functional efficacy of microencapsulated porcine islet xenografts transplanted into nonobese diabetic (NOD) mice. Islets were isolated from the pancreata of CSK miniature swine by manual collagenase digestion and Ficoll purification. Purified porcine islets were immediately encapsulated into microbeads of agarose polystyrene sulfonic acid (Ag-PSSa).

The distribution of atrial natriuretic peptide receptor B (ANPR-B) varies between tissues and species. The aim of this study is to determine whether ANPR-B is present in the hamster glomeruli. In vitro C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP)- and atrial natriuretic factor (ANF)-stimulated cGMP accumulation studies were performed in hamster glomeruli.

Regulation of intracellular Mg2+ activity in the heart is not well characterized. Cardiac myocytes were prepared as primary cultures from 7 day old chick embryo hearts and intracellular Mg2+ concentration [( Mg2+]i) was determined in single ventricular cells with mag-fura-2. Basal [Mg2+]i was 0.

Father, mother and daughter, interpersonal assessments of parental initiative and daughter responsive behaviors as reported on Benjamin's (1974) Structural Analysis of Social Behavior (SASB), were combined to serve as data for a hierarchical cluster analysis. Out of the 22 families with an anorexic child and the 22 matched control families, 7 family groups with unique family dynamics differentiating one from another emerged out of the clustering procedure.
