Introduction: Mycetoma is a chronic granulomatous infection, common throughout tropical regions, and is considered a neglected disease that mostly affects impoverished populations. Mycetoma is divided into eumycetoma, caused by fungi, and actinomycetoma, caused by filamentous bacteria. Clinical presentation is distinctive, and making the diagnosis is usually not difficult; however, access to safe and effective treatments is a major challenge.

Background And Objective: Highly variable pain mechanisms in people with low back pain or spine-related leg pain might contribute to inefficacy of neuropathic pain medication. This meta-analysis aimed to determine how neuropathic pain is identified in clinical trials for people taking neuropathic pain medication for low back pain or spine-related leg pain and whether subgrouping based on the presence of neuropathic pain influences efficacy.
Methods: EMBASE, MEDLINE, Cochrane Central, CINAHL [EBSCO], APA PsycINFO, ClinicalTrials.

Background: Previous studies on the distribution of mycetoma globally have failed to identify Ecuador as an endemic country.
Methods: We present data on 35 cases of mycetoma in Ecuador between 1955 and 2021: 5 cases from our experience and 30 cases from the literature.
Results: Eight cases of eumycetoma (23%) and 27 cases of actinomycetoma (77%) were diagnosed.

Background: Despite positive findings around the use of eHealth in dementia care, it is rarely translated into routine practice. This can be facilitated by early involvement of end-users in the development of an implementation plan. This study aimed to co-design strategies to implement an eHealth intervention, the EMBED-Care Framework, to support assessment and decision-making for people with dementia in care homes.

Introduction: Alopecia areata (AA) can negatively affect quality of life (QoL) and is associated with increased prevalence of anxiety and depression (vs people without AA). This study compared physician-assessed and patient self-rated severity of AA in a European sample and described the patient-reported burden of AA stratified by physician-assessed severity.
Methods: Real-world data were collected from the Adelphi Real World AA Disease Specific Programme™, a retrospective point-in-time cross-sectional survey of dermatologists and their adult patients with AA in five European countries (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, UK).

Objectives: Emergency department (ED) attendance is common among people with dementia and associated with poor health outcomes. Literature suggests a link between access to community care and the ED, but we know little about the mechanisms behind this link. This study aimed to explore experiences of accessing community and emergency care among people affected by dementia.

Background: Identifying frailty in people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is deemed important, yet comparative characteristics of the most commonly used frailty measures in COPD are unknown. This study aimed to compare how the Fried Frailty Phenotype (FFP) and Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB) characterise frailty in people with stable COPD, including prevalence of and overlap in identification of frailty, disease and health characteristics of those identified as living with frailty, and predictive value in relation to survival time.
Methods: Cohort study of people with stable COPD attending outpatient clinics.

Background: Clinical uncertainty is inherent for people with frailty and multimorbidity. Depleted physiological reserves increase vulnerability to a decline in health and adverse outcomes from a stressor event. Evidence-based tools can improve care processes and outcomes, but little is known about priorities to deliver care for older people with frailty and multimorbidity.
