The (dis)continuity of breastfeeding care in prison: perception of health professionals and managers.

Objective: to describe the perception of health professionals and managers in the prison system regarding the continuity of breastfeeding care for lactating women deprived of liberty.

Method: descriptive-exploratory research, qualitative approach, developed in a prison unit in Rio de Janeiro from December 2022 to January 2023. Interviewees: five health professionals and two managers.

Silica-exposed patients with silicosis show shorter telomeres than do unexposed individuals: a pilot study in a population in southeastern Brazil.

Objective: Silicosis is a pneumoconiosis characterized by fibrosis of the lung parenchyma caused by the inhalation of silica particles. Silica dust inhalation is associated with inflammation and induction of oxidative stress in the lungs. This oxidative stress affects telomeres, which are short tandem DNA repeats that cap the end of linear chromosomes.

Durvalumab as consolidation therapy in patients who received chemoradiotherapy for unresectable stage III NSCLC: Real-world data from an expanded access program in Brazil (LACOG 0120).

Objective: The PACIFIC trial established standard therapy for patients with unresectable stage III NSCLC who did not progress after platinum-based concurrent chemoradiation therapy. However, real-world data, particularly from Latin America, remain limited. Balloon pulmonary angioplasty in patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension: short- and long-term results from a cohort in Brazil.

Objective: A significant number of patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) are not eligible for pulmonary endarterectomy and may be treated with balloon pulmonary angioplasty (BPA). Although BPA programs have recently been developed in Brazil, no results have yet been published. Aquatic and palustrine plants are a group of plants that have morphological and anatomical adaptations to occupy permanent or temporary aquatic environments. In this study, we carried out the first floristic survey of aquatic and palustrine plants in restingas (restinga swamps and swamp forests) of a Ramsar site in the municipality of Guimarães, western coast of Maranhão State and easternmost Amazon, Brazil. In total, 52 species of 43 genera and 28 families were collected between July 2022 and October 2023, during the dry and rainy seasons.

The Byers Peninsula, the largest ice-free area in Maritime Antarctica, is vital for studying landscape-scale natural processes due to its diverse periglacial landforms. This study aim to characterize the soils and environments of its southern sector, focusing on soil-landform-lithology interactions. Thirty-seven soil profiles were classified, collected, and chemically and physically analyzed.

DNA metabarcoding reveal hidden diversity of periphytic eukaryotes on marine Antarctic macroalgae.

Polar marine macroalgae thrive in extreme conditions, often displaying geographic isolation and high degree of endemism. The "phycosphere" refers to the zone around the algae inhabited by microrganisms. Our study used DNA metabarcoding to survey the eukaryotic communities associated with seven seaweed species obtained at King George Island (South Shetland Islands, maritime Antarctic), including two Rhodophyta, two Chlorophyta and three Phaeophyceae.

Antarctic nematodes survival in Martian and Lunar regolith simulants under terrestrial conditions.

This study characterized three surface zones of Collins Glacier and three other zones in ice-free areas on the Fildes Peninsula, which has an area of 29.6 km².

This study aimed to describe the severity of abortion-related complications, factors associated with complications, the types of management and the experience of care in Brazil. Objective: to cross-culturally adapt and analyze the metric properties of the Adult Difficult Intravenous Access Scale into Brazilian Portuguese.

Method: methodological study carried out in two stages: 1) Translation of the scale from the original version in English to Brazilian Portuguese, including an assessment by a committee of nine judges, back-translation and semantic analysis; 2) Analysis of metric properties with 130 adults admitted to a hemodynamics unit in which difficult peripheral venipunctures occurred. Participants were followed up to check for the occurrence of difficult peripheral venipunctures.
