There is a growing need to evaluate the agreement between the field methods and integrate artificial intelligence (AI) using two-dimensional (2D) photos for enhanced real-world analysis. This study evaluated the agreement between AI-2D photos and the clinical reference method, dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) to estimate the body fat percentage (BFP). Other methods were also investigated, including skinfolds, A-mode ultrasound, and bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA).

However, its widespread adoption lacked a thorough understanding of its physiological interaction, resulting in controversies over its effectiveness and safety. This study aimed to assess the evidence of Endolift® efficacy, parametrization, and safety by analyzing adverse events.

First record of microplastic contamination in adult endemic amazonian anuran species.

The microplastics (MPs), due to their high dispersion and bioaccumulation rates, have been identified in various animal groups, such as anuran amphibians during both larval and adult stages. However, current studies on adult anuran amphibians focus on assessing only one exposure route, the digestive system, while other routes remain underestimated. Therefore, this present study aimed to evaluate the degree of contamination in the digestive, respiratory, and integumentary systems, in situ, of two endemic Amazonian adult anuran species (Physalaemus ephippifer and Boana multifasciata).

Background: Physical activity, sedentary behaviour, and diet synergically coexist (in different ways) within adolescents' lifestyles. Thus, understanding obesogenic behaviour patterns within populations is critical to promoting adolescents' health. This study investigates clustering patterns of adolescents' obesogenic behaviours across South American countries.

Novel bilayered zirconia systems using recycled 3Y-TZP for dental applications.

Objective: To synthesize bilayer zirconia systems based on commercial or recycled 3Y-TZP obtained from non-milled remnants and to compare their optical and mechanical properties before and after aging.

Methods: Bilayer zirconia samples were fabricated using either recycled 3Y-TZP (3Y-R/4Y and 3Y-R/5Y) or commercial powders (3Y/4Y and 3Y/5Y). Microstructure and phase composition were analyzed using ScanningElectronMicroscopy (SEM) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD).

Menstrual Friendly Public Toilets (MFPT) are accessible, safe, and clean public toilets that provide those who menstruate the space and resources to navigate cities with dignity and comfort. However, there is little evidence on the status of MFPTs in urban centers.

Background And Aims: This study compares three methods to determine central adiposity (waist circumference -WC - and visceral adipose tissue - VAT - estimated by dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry - DXA, and by magnetic resonance imaging - MRI) in their ability to predict increases in cardiometabolic risk (CMR) markers in young individuals. We examined their associations with CMR in 47 men and women aged 25-40.

Light is an abiotic factor that may influence a wide range of cellular processes, including conidiogenesis, stress tolerance, and metabolite biosynthesis.

Dolichocarpols G-X: Previously undescribed macrocyclic humulene sesquiterpenoids from Anaxagorea dolichocarpa.

Eleven previously undescribed macrocyclic humulene sesquiterpenoids, dolichocarpols G-Q (1-11), five undescribed bicyclic, dolichocarpols R-V (12-16) and two undescribed norsesquiterpenes, dolichocarpols W-X (17-18) were isolated from the roots of Anaxagorea dolichocarpa. Their structures were unequivocally determined by the analysis of NMR, HRESIMS, and IR data, along with NMR and ECD quantum-mechanical calculations, followed by the application of the DP4+ method. Most compounds possess an ether bridge between different carbons, whereas compounds 13/14 and 15/16 are diastereomers isomerized at C-7/C-10 and at C-7/C-10/C-12, respectively.

The use of biofuel blends with fossil fuels is widespread globally, raising concerns over novel contamination types in environments impacted by these mixtures. This study investigates the microbial functional in soils contaminated by biofuel and fossil fuel blends and subjected to various bioremediation treatments. Using metagenomic analysis, it was compared hydrocarbon degradation functional profiles across areas polluted with ethanol/gasoline and biodiesel/diesel blends.

Fiber- and acetate-mediated modulation of MHC-II expression on intestinal epithelium protects from Clostridioides difficile infection.

Here, we explore the relationship between dietary fibers, colonic epithelium major histocompatibility complex class II (MHC-II) expression, and immune cell interactions in regulating susceptibility to Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI). We find that a low-fiber diet increases MHC-II expression in the colonic epithelium, which, in turn, worsens CDI by promoting the development of pathogenic CD4 intraepithelial lymphocytes (IELs). The influence of dietary fibers on MHC-II expression is mediated by its metabolic product, acetate, and its receptor, free fatty acid receptor 2 (FFAR2).

Alkane selection as a critical factor in structuring reverse wormlike micelles.

Hypothesis: The oil phase controls the persistence length and aqueous channel diameter of reverse wormlike micelles (RWLMs), specifically by tuning the cohesive energy density of alkanes.

Experiments: We explore the influence of alkanes with varying chain lengths on the rheological properties, structural parameters, and morphology of RWLMs. To establish a link between the solvent characteristics and the structure of RWLMs, we employ a diverse set of complementary techniques, including rheological analysis, small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, and cryogenic transmission electron microscopy (cryo-TEM).

The prevalence of multiple sclerosis has been increased worldwide. However, no update on the prevalence of multiple sclerosis in Brazil has been conducted since 2015 OBJECTIVE: The aim of the present review is to perform an update of the multiple sclerosis prevalence in Brazil as well as to analyze its current epidemiological profile METHODS: We searched for studies on the multiple sclerosis prevalence in Brazil. The databases researched were Medline (PubMed), Embase, Scielo, Scopus and Web of Science using the keywords "prevalence", "prevalence study", "incidence", "epidemiology", "multiple sclerosis" and "Brazil" RESULTS: Eleven studies were included for descriptive and quantitative analysis.

Yellow fever (YF) is a viral disease that affects both humans and non-human primates (NHPs). Neotropical monkeys are more severely stricken by YF and the impact of the disease can be devastating to the endangered golden-headed lion tamarins (GHLTs, Leontopithecus chrysomelas). Susceptible GHLTs were immunized with the commercial Brazilian YF 17DD live attenuated vaccine or two other experimental non-replicating YF vaccines: a purified whole-virus, b-propiolactone-inactivated vaccine and a plant-derived recombinant subunit vaccine.

Bone regeneration: The influence of composite HA/TCP scaffolds and electrical stimulation on TGF/BMP and RANK/RANKL/OPG pathways.
