Methods: Medical databases were searched to identify relevant clinical trials. Meta-analysis was conducted for primary (cardiopulmonary bypass [CPB] and aortic cross-clamp [ACC] times, hospital and intensive care unit [ICU] length of stay [LOS], mechanical ventilation time) and secondary (adverse events, lactate levels, volume of additional cardioplegia) endpoints.

Family-Professional Collaborative Physical Therapy Intervention via Telehealth for Children with Developmental Disabilities: A Mixed-Method Feasibility Study.

Aims: To evaluate attendance rates, daily therapy engagement, parents' perceptions regarding feasibility, acceptability, family-centeredness, and individualized outcomes of a collaborative telehealth-based physical therapy intervention for children with disabilities.

Current international guidelines focus on symptomatic management, with little discussion regarding potential medication, as therapeutic options were limited at the time of their publication.

Introduction: Regenerative endodontic procedures (REPs) aim to replace damaged dental structures and regenerate the dentin-pulp complex. Initially focused on teeth with incomplete root formation, recent research shows promise for necrotic teeth with complete root formation.

Methodology: This review, following PRISMA guidelines and registered in PROSPERO, included clinical studies on regenerative endodontic therapy in necrotic human teeth with complete root formation.

Tooth wear and tertiary crowding: a 13-year cohort study in Amazon Indigenous populations.

Background: Tooth wear is an important mechanism for reducing dental dimensions and, consequently, dental crowding. The objective of this cohort study was to examine the relation of tooth wear, adjusted for covariates (age, tooth loss, arch perimeter and intercanine width), on tertiary crowding in Amazon Indigenous populations.

Methods: A sample of 40 Indigenous people in permanent dentition at T0 (baseline) and after 13 years (T1) were evaluated.

Multimorbidity latent classes in relation to 11-year mortality, risk factors and health-related quality of life in Malaysia: a prospective health and demographic surveillance system study.

Background: We aimed to identify specific multimorbidity latent classes among multi-ethnic community-dwelling adults aged ≥ 18 years in Malaysia. We further explored the risk factors associated with these patterns and examined the relationships between the multimorbidity patterns and 11-year all-cause mortality risk, as well as health-related quality of life (HRQoL).

Methods: Using data from 18,101 individuals (aged 18-97 years) from the baseline Census 2012, Health Round 2013, and Verbal Autopsies 2012-2023 of the South East Asia Community Observatory (SEACO) health and demographic surveillance system, latent class analysis was performed on 13 chronic health conditions to identify statistically and clinically meaningful groups.

Cancer-associated Fibroblasts (CAFs) have emerged as critical regulators of anti-tumour immunity, with both beneficial and detrimental properties that remain poorly characterised. To investigate this, we performed single-cell and spatial transcriptomic analysis, comparing head & neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) subgroups, which although heterogenous, can be considered broadly immune-hot and immune-cold (human papillomavirus [HPV]+ve and HPV-ve tumours respectively). This identified six fibroblast subpopulations, including two with immunomodulatory gene expression profiles (IL-11 + inflammatory [i]CAF and CCL19 + fibroblastic reticular cell [FRC]-like).

The red-rumped agouti is a wild rodent of ecological importance in South America because it acts as a seed disperser, and skin banks could serve as alternatives to conserve genetic variability. Electrospun adsorbent membrane of PLA containing chitosan for toxic metal ions removal from aqueous solution: Effect of chitosan incorporation.

The scarcity of water resources and their pollution are vital to modern civilization. Thus, adsorptive membranes are promising candidates to be applied in the filtration systems to improve the water quality. In summary, this study investigated the effect of chitosan (CS) in the morphological, chemical, and physical aspects of PLA-based membranes incorporating chitosan obtained by electrospinning process, their adsorption behavior in multielement aqueous systems containing Cr, Cu, Zn, Mn , Ni, and Cd in pH 4, and the possible removal mechanism on the composite electrospun membrane's surface.

A scoping review of the motor impairments in autism spectrum disorder.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder mainly defined by impairments in communication and socialization. Although motor symptoms are not typically considered central to the disease, their high frequency and early onset have been recurrently reported in the literature. Therefore, this scoping review provides a broad description of these motor impairments across all ages, as well as a discussion of their relevance and relation to other clinical aspects of ASD.

Differential bioaccumulation and histopathological changes induced by iron oxide nanoparticles and ferric chloride in the neotropical snail Biomphalaria glabrata.

Iron oxide nanoparticles (IONPs) are prominent in nanomedicine, cosmetics, and environmental applications. However, their increasing production, use, and release into the environment raises concerns about their potential risks to aquatic life and human health. This study aimed to evaluate the bioaccumulation, as concentration of small, medium and large iron aggregates in the digestive tubules, histopathological changes, and inflammatory responses in the freshwater snail Biomphalaria glabrata following chronic exposure to gluconic-acid functionalized IONPs (GLA-IONPs) compared to their dissolved counterpart (FeCl).

Exploring Retinal Conditions Through Blue Light Reflectance Imaging.

Blue light reflectance (BLR) imaging offers a non-invasive, cost-effective method for evaluating retinal structures by analyzing the reflectance and absorption characteristics of the inner retinal layers. By leveraging blue light's interaction with retinal tissues, BLR enhances visualization beyond the retinal nerve fiber layer, improving detection of structures such as the outer plexiform layer and macular pigment. Its diagnostic utility has been demonstrated in distinct retinal conditions, including hyperreflectance in early macular telangiectasia, hyporeflectance in non-perfused areas indicative of ischemia, identification of pseudodrusen patterns (notably the ribbon type), and detection of peripheral retinal tears and degenerative retinoschisis in eyes with reduced retinal pigment epithelial pigmentation.

Purpose: The confluence of laser interstitial thermal therapy (LITT) with immunotherapeutic approaches represents a promising option for managing recurrent brain lesions. However, the potential synergy between these modalities is still unclear. This meta-analysis examines the literature to elucidate the adverse effects and overall survival associated with this combination in treating recurrent brain metastases and glioblastoma.

Clinical, Radiographic, and Histopathological Characterization of Osteomyelitis of the Jaws: A 51-Year Experience at an Oral Pathology Service.

Introduction: Osteomyelitis is an inflammatory condition of the bone with a multifactorial etiology, including trauma and odontogenic infections. Despite being a common condition in clinical practice, limited research exists on the clinical and pathological profile of Osteomyelitis of the Jaws (OJ). This 51-year retrospective study aimed to describe the clinical, radiographic, and histopathological features of OJ diagnosed at a single oral pathology referral center.

Exploring risk factors linked to canine lymphoma: a case-control study.

Risk factors associated with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) have been identified in various countries among both humans and domestic animals. This study aimed to investigate potential risk factors for NHL in dogs residing in the district of Porto, Portugal.

Toxic plastisphere: How the characteristics of plastic particles can affect colonization of harmful microalgae and adsorption of phycotoxins.

Microplastics (MP) are suitable substrates for the colonization of harmful microalgal cells and the adsorption of their lipophilic compounds including phycotoxins. Moreover, such interactions likely change as physical-chemical characteristics of the MP surface are gradually modified during plastic degradation in aquatic environments. Using a combination of innovative laboratory experiments, this study systematically investigated, for the first time, the influence of various MP characteristics (polymeric composition, shape, size, and/or surface roughness) on its capacity to carry both living harmful algal cells and dissolved phycotoxins.
