Introduction: Self-esteem and vocal perception are central aspects of identity and self-presentation, particularly within marginalized communities where voice and self-concept can be deeply intertwined with social acceptance and cultural dynamics. Among Brazilian gay men, generational differences in these areas may reflect broader social changes, shifts in stigma, and evolving notions of masculinity. This study aims to explore these differences, examining how self-esteem and self-assessed vocal descriptions vary across generations, thereby shedding light on specific needs and areas for potential support within these communities.

Purpose: To compare voiding parameters in women with and without increased postvoid residual (PVR) volume, to correlate these parameters with PVR volume and PVR percentage, and to describe their ability to predict an increased PVR volume.
Methods: Retrospective cross-sectional study of urodynamics data prospectively acquired from consecutive symptomatic women over a 5-year period. Patients with spinal cord disorders and with abdominal straining during voiding (abdominal pressure ≥10 cm H2O over baseline at maximum flow rate [Qmax]) were excluded.

Cry proteins, commonly found in gram-positive soil bacteria, are used worldwide as aerial sprays or in transgenic plants for controlling crop pest populations and as insect vectors. Via PCR analysis, a spore producing soil isolate (BV5) was speculated to encode a Cry gene. Partial nucleotide sequence of the amplified PCR fragment showed homology with the Cry8 genes present in GenBank.

Magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) used for magnetic hyperthermia can not only damage tumor cells after elevating to a specific temperature but also provide the temperature required for thermosensitive liposomes (TSL) to release doxorubicin (DOX). MNPs injected into tumor will generate heat under an alternating magnetic field, so the MNPs distribution can determine temperature distribution and further affect the DOX concentration used for tumor therapy. This study proposes an asynchronous injection strategy for this combination therapy in order to improve the DOX concentration value for drug therapy, in which the MNPs are injected into tumor after a certain lagging of TSL injection in order to increase the TSL concentration inside tumor.

Background: Sarcopenia is associated with clinical complications that increase mortality in older adults. Current screening tools, such as Sarc-F and Sarc-CalF, focus primarily on muscular performance but have limited sensitivity in identifying elderly individuals at risk of sarcopenia. The present study aims to develop a more comprehensive sarcopenia risk screening tool, Sarc-Global, which integrates additional anthropometric and clinical variables to enhance the sensitivity and accuracy of sarcopenia risk assessment in older adults.

This study investigated the effects of chitosan/gelatin (CG) coatings containing pomegranate peel extract (PPE) on the physical-chemical, microbiological, volatile profile, and sensory characteristics of strawberries over 12 days of refrigerated storage. The coatings containing PPE minimized the weight loss of the fruits by 11 % and delayed their fungal contamination by 6-8 days. Uncoated fruits showed soluble solids content, pH, and titratable acidity values characteristics of highly deteriorated fruits.

Purpose: This investigation was conducted to elucidate the effects of eugenol on bladder contractility through experimental and in silico approaches.
Methods: To assess the impact of eugenol on muscular contractility, longitudinal strips of bladder tissue, measuring 2 mm by 6 mm, were mounted in perfusion chambers connected to an isometric force transducer. Furthermore, molecular docking studies were conducted to explore the potential of eugenol to target the M3 muscarinic acetylcholine receptor (M3R) and voltage-operated calcium channels (VOCCs) in muscle cells, utilizing in silico techniques.

Climate change profoundly affects water resource allocation by disrupting the availability, distribution, and quality of water across various regions. Optimal allocation of water resources represents a comprehensive strategy for water resource management by addressing the intricate connections between water allocation systems and their repercussions on the environment, society, and economy. In this study, an Optimal Water Resources Management (OWRM) framework was developed, focusing on the optimal allocation of water resources and crop planting structures across various sectors.

Annually, thousands of individuals suffer from skin injuries resulting from trauma, surgeries, or diabetes. Inadequate wound treatment can delay healing and increase the risk of severe infections. In this context, a promising synthetic polymer with potent antimicrobial properties, Poly{2-[(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]trimethylammonium chloride} (PMETAC), is synthesized and crosslinked with N,N'-Methylenebis(acrylamide) (BIS) in the presence of Chitosan (CH), a natural, biocompatible polysaccharide that promotes cell regeneration and provides additional beneficial properties.

Leishmaniases affect millions of people around the world, caused by Leishmania parasites. Leishmania are transmitted by female sandflies from Phlebotominae subfamily during their blood meals. In mammals, promastigotes are phagocytosed mainly by macrophages, differentiate into amastigotes and multiply.

Background And Purpose: To develop a new test to assess the motor coordination of the upper limbs, and to investigate the test-retest and inter-rater reliability, construct validity, standard error of measurement (SEM), minimum detectable change (MDC), and the reference values.
Methods: The Upper Extremity Motor Coordination Test (UEMOCOT)was applied for 20 s, with the individual touching two targets (one right and one left) as quickly as possible, first with the hand (manual task) and then with the index finger (finger task). To test-retest reliability, the UEMOCOT was administered two times.
