This article analyzes the sociodemographic composition of the Indigenous population in Brazil in the 1991, 2000, and 2010 demographic censuses, in addition to investigating inequalities in access to basic sanitation and electricity based on the 2010 Census. A methodology is proposed that classifies households with Indigenous residents as "homogeneous", "mixed" with an Indigenous in the category "household head", and mixed with a non-Indigenous in the category "household head". Regional and situational differences overlapped with differences by type of household and location, with better conditions in urban than rural areas and in the Southeast and South.

Considered an important public health problem among Indigenous peoples in Brazil, obesity is a risk factor for Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) and conditions. The present study aimed to describe the occurrence of excess weight, obesity, and associated factors in Xavante Indigenous adults, through a nutritional survey carried out in the population ≥ 15 years of age living in the Pimentel Barbosa and Wedezé Indigenous Lands, Mato Grosso, Central Brazil, during the period of June to August 2011. In this interview, Weibe Tapeba, secretary of Indigenous Health at the Ministry of Health in the Lula Government, discusses the process of reorganizing the Secretariat of Indigenous Health (SESAI) and Indigenous protagonism in the new administration. Among the points highlighted by the interviewee are the assessment of the Indigenous health scenario within the current political context of the Ministry of Health, dialogues with Indigenous movement organizations, as well as collaboration with research and educational institutions. The present study aimed to analyze notifications of intimate partner violence (IPV) against indigenous women in the macro-region of Dourados-MS, Brazil, from 2009 to 2020. This is a cross-sectional study with secondary data from registered reports in the Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN) of indigenous women who suffered violence. The National Policy for the Care of Indigenous Peoples (NPCIP) faces an enormous challenge in operationalization regarding the training and qualification of health professionals to work in an intercultural context. In this article, we open a dialogue with the proposal of a Meeting of Knowledges (MK) as a teaching and learning strategy capable of promoting a critical intercultural education. We seek to reflect on the possible impact of MK in the health field for transforming the university environment, as well as healthcare for Indigenous communities, towards an entrenched, democratic, pluriepistemic, and transdisciplinary perspective.

Estimating average blood pressure levels and prevalence of arterial hypertension (AH) and associated factors is essential to monitoring health and planning actions to combat noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) in Indigenous peoples in Brazil. Analyzing 56 articles from 2020 to May 2021 across four areas -community organization, governance, communication, and territorial approaches - it found that structural vulnerabilities shaped their responses. The spread of the virus was influenced by environmental, social, and cultural factors.

This study aimed to analyze the adaptation of prenatal care offered to Indigenous women and its association with maternal characteristics and health services. This is a cross-sectional study, conducted with 461 Indigenous women who gave birth and/or received immediate postpartum care in the municipalities of Mato Grosso do Sul, between 2021 and 2022. An indicator of minimum prenatal adequacy was developed, which was classified as adequate when the woman started prenatal care in the 1st trimester of pregnancy, had ≥7 consultations, and had routine exams recorded.

This study analyzes the implementation of the Indigenous Health Policy, focusing on the care practices of health teams of the Indigenous Health Care Subsystem in the Upper Solimões River in the Amazon region. Using ethnography as a methodological resource, the dynamics among participants, discourses, and power in the implementation of the policy are investigated, revealing a complex interconnection between practices and other contextual realities. Three phenomena emerge as critical influences on care practices: the medical-care model, the sanitation model, and the culture of performance.

The present article aimed to analyze the association between sociodemographic and hospitalization characteristics with the outcome of indigenous and non-indigenous pregnant and postpartum women, as well as factors associated with deaths among indigenous women hospitalized for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) due to COVID-19 in Brazil. This is a cross-sectional and analytical study, with secondary data of pregnant and postpartum women of reproductive age, classified into race/skin color (indigenous and non-indigenous), extracted from the Obstetric Observatory, which uses data from the Influenza Epidemiological Surveillance Information System. The outcome variables were analyzed using the chi-square test or Fisher's exact test, and logistic regression was performed for the factors associated with the death of indigenous people.

This article discusses the meanings of differentiated health care guideline given by health professionals from the Indigenous Health Multidisciplinary Team (EMSI) who work at the Alto Rio Negro Special Indigenous Health District (DSEI-ARN). This exploratory, descriptive, analytical, and qualitative study conducted 15 semi-structured interviews with professionals from the Indigenous Health Multidisciplinary Teams of the DSEI-ARN, which were submitted to content analysis. The four meaning cores identified from the analyses were: Differentiated care as a way of providing primary care in the territory; Actions conducted under the population's cultural differences; Self-care, traditional medicine, and the construction of therapeutic itineraries; and Professionals' challenges and difficulties in addressing traditional indigenous health care.

This article aims to characterize Indigenous people aged 18-23 of the Xukuru do Ororubá ethnic group, Pernambuco state, Brazil, regarding the use of dental services, self-perceived oral health, oral hygiene practices and caries experience, and socioeconomic and demographic aspects. This population-based cross-sectional study is nested in a cohort study that started in 2010 and was conducted in the Indigenous territory in 2018. Brazil, one of the world's largest agricultural producers and consumers of pesticides, has expanded its agricultural area in the southern region of Mato Grosso do Sul, intensifying environmental contamination and increasing the vulnerability of indigenous populations. This research assessed the presence of pesticides in the waters of two indigenous communities in MS, Retomada Guyraroká and Aldeia Jaguapiru.
