This study aimed to analyze the effect of different intervention strategies in physical education classes on the reduction of sedentary time. This is a randomized, school-based intervention with factorial characteristics, carried out with freshmen high school students from 11 full-time schools, allocated in three intervention situations: (A) schools with two extra physical education classes per week; (B) schools with training and engagement actions for physical education teachers; (C) Schools with both A and B strategies; and (D) a group of control schools. Accelerometry was used to obtain the effect measure of the main outcome (sedentary behavior).

Study sample included 45 census tracts chosen by systematic random sampling, and 36 homes selected from each, from a population-based study. Each neighborhood was delimited by a 400m buffer around the midpoint of the homes.

The ESSENCE study evaluated the effect of sending text messages with and without reminders of the time of medication use on adherence to medication treatment and the reduction of blood pressure in patients with hypertension. This was a randomized, crossover, double-blind, active-controlled clinical trial, which included patients aged 30-69 years, followed up at a community pharmacy. Messages were automatically sent using a software and were received on the participants' smartphones.

This article analyzes the sociodemographic composition of the Indigenous population in Brazil in the 1991, 2000, and 2010 demographic censuses, in addition to investigating inequalities in access to basic sanitation and electricity based on the 2010 Census. A methodology is proposed that classifies households with Indigenous residents as "homogeneous", "mixed" with an Indigenous in the category "household head", and mixed with a non-Indigenous in the category "household head". Regional and situational differences overlapped with differences by type of household and location, with better conditions in urban than rural areas and in the Southeast and South.

Considered an important public health problem among Indigenous peoples in Brazil, obesity is a risk factor for Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) and conditions. The present study aimed to describe the occurrence of excess weight, obesity, and associated factors in Xavante Indigenous adults, through a nutritional survey carried out in the population ≥ 15 years of age living in the Pimentel Barbosa and Wedezé Indigenous Lands, Mato Grosso, Central Brazil, during the period of June to August 2011. Eight of the 10 villages in the territory were investigated.

In this interview, Weibe Tapeba, secretary of Indigenous Health at the Ministry of Health in the Lula Government, discusses the process of reorganizing the Secretariat of Indigenous Health (SESAI) and Indigenous protagonism in the new administration. Among the points highlighted by the interviewee are the assessment of the Indigenous health scenario within the current political context of the Ministry of Health, dialogues with Indigenous movement organizations, as well as collaboration with research and educational institutions. The interview highlights the importance of developing strategies aimed at restructuring SESAI and improving Indigenous health public policy in Brazil through extensive coordination, involving planning, management, funding, and Indigenous social participation with Social Control.

The present study aimed to analyze notifications of intimate partner violence (IPV) against indigenous women in the macro-region of Dourados-MS, Brazil, from 2009 to 2020. This is a cross-sectional study with secondary data from registered reports in the Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN) of indigenous women who suffered violence. The National Policy for the Care of Indigenous Peoples (NPCIP) faces an enormous challenge in operationalization regarding the training and qualification of health professionals to work in an intercultural context. In this article, we open a dialogue with the proposal of a Meeting of Knowledges (MK) as a teaching and learning strategy capable of promoting a critical intercultural education. We seek to reflect on the possible impact of MK in the health field for transforming the university environment, as well as healthcare for Indigenous communities, towards an entrenched, democratic, pluriepistemic, and transdisciplinary perspective.

Estimating average blood pressure levels and prevalence of arterial hypertension (AH) and associated factors is essential to monitoring health and planning actions to combat noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) in Indigenous peoples in Brazil. This is a cross-sectional study that investigated average blood pressure levels and prevalence of arterial hypertension in 4,680 Indigenous women (aged 18-49 years), using data from the 1st National Survey of Health and Nutrition of Indigenous Peoples (2008-2009) and associated factors, such as through gamma regression and multilevel logistics. This case study analyzed arrangements and strategies of the network actors in the Special Indigenous Sanitary District (DSEI) Pernambuco's territory to guarantee the right to health of Indigenous populations during the COVID-19 pandemic. This work was carried out through document analysis, workshops, and field research. The Contingency Plan for COVID-19 in Indigenous Peoples of DSEI Pernambuco included surveillance actions, laboratory and pharmaceutical assistance, communication, and management.

Analyzing 56 articles from 2020 to May 2021 across four areas -community organization, governance, communication, and territorial approaches - it found that structural vulnerabilities shaped their responses. The spread of the virus was influenced by environmental, social, and cultural factors.

This study aimed to analyze the adaptation of prenatal care offered to Indigenous women and its association with maternal characteristics and health services. This is a cross-sectional study, conducted with 461 Indigenous women who gave birth and/or received immediate postpartum care in the municipalities of Mato Grosso do Sul, between 2021 and 2022. An indicator of minimum prenatal adequacy was developed, which was classified as adequate when the woman started prenatal care in the 1st trimester of pregnancy, had ≥7 consultations, and had routine exams recorded.

Primarily since the early 2000s, Indigenous peoples in Brazil have become beneficiaries of social security and income transfer policies, such as the program known as Bolsa Família (Family Allowance). Few field studies have evaluated the magnitude and significance of monetarization in Indigenous social lives and economies. To this end, between 2019 and 2020, the present work conducted an ethnographic study and survey in two villages of the Rikbaktsa people in the Brazilian Amazon.
