Objectives: The use of non-adhesive gel-like embolic materials (NAGLEMs) in the endovascular treatment of hypervascularized formations in the head and neck is gaining in popularity because of a number of important characteristics involved. Their primary benefits are their capacity to penetrate diseased vasculature, effectively distribute, and, most importantly, remain controllable during the process. We reviewed the literature and evaluated the results of using NAGLEMs in comparison to other embolizing substances (namely, coils, glue, and particles) as alternative embolizing agents for patients receiving care at our clinic.

The European Commission of the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) has identified glial mechanisms of seizures and epileptogenesis as top research priorities. The aim of our study was to conduct a comparative analysis of the expression levels of cytoskeletal proteins (glial fibrillar acidic protein (GFAP) and vimentin), protective protein S100, and proapoptotic caspase-3 protein in patients with drug-resistant epilepsy (DRE) associated with focal cortical dysplasia (FCD). We aimed to investigate how the expression levels of these proteins depend on age (both in children and adults), gender, and disease duration, using immunohistochemistry.

In the latest revisions of the WHO Classification of CNS Tumors, carried out in 2016 and 2021, the traditional histogenetic classification of gliomas is rebuilt on a new molecular genetic basis, according to which diffuse midline glioma with alteration of histone H3 K27 is distinguished as a specific pediatric oncosyndrome. The rationale was the association of this feature of midline gliomas in children with a worse prognosis and the prospective possibilities of targeted therapy. The levels of angiogenic factors were analyzed in eight patients who underwent the embolization of chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) with non-adhesive liquid embolic agents. Four of these patients had previously undergone surgical treatment for hematoma removal and had recurrences of a similar volume, and four had an increase in hematoma volume due to rebleeding. The levels of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), matrix metallopeptidase 9 (MMP 9), angiopoietin-2 (Ang2), transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-β1) and platelet-derived growth factor BB (PDGF-BB) in the arterial and venous blood were analyzed.

Objective: Assess the significance of chordoma as a neurosurgical pathology, taking into account the latest edition of the WHO classification of soft tissues and bone tumors (2020).
Material And Methods: An analysis of 28 chordomas was carried out. All chordomas were histologically verified, including using immunohistochemical markers of notochordal differentiation (S100, EMA, keratin, brachiuria protein).
Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML) is a subacute demyelinating brain damage caused by infection of oligodendrocytes and astrocytes with the lytic JC virus on the background of immunosuppression. A case report of PML with a tumor-like course is presented. Morphological diagnostics revealed non-specific staining of antibodies to Ki-67, p53, IDH1, NF and Vim in the nuclei of gliocytes affected by the JC virus.

To compare an impact of coronavirus disease and Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine on the dynamics of epilepsy. The study is part of the ongoing «Epilepsy and COVID-19» independent research which recruited patients with epilepsy into two groups: group 1 - COVID-19 survivors and group 2 - patients vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine. The study compares two clinical cases: seizure recurrence with COVID-19 disease in a young patient and good tolerability of vaccination in a female elderly patient following surgical management of pharmacoresistant epilepsy with concomitant pathology.

The article presents literature review of the recent publications devoted to the drugs with dopaminergic, antiglutamatergic and GABA-ergic effects in the treatment of patients with vegetative state/areactive wakefulness syndrome (VS/AWS). The authors analyzed their own results of the effects of intravenous form of amantadine sulfate (PK Merz) in 142 VS/AWS patients caused by different etiological factors. Depending on the dominant neurological symptoms, patients were divided into three main groups: areactive type of course (group 1 - 61 patients), predominance of primitive limbic reactions (group 2 - 35 patients) and predominance of extrapyramidal symptoms (group 3 - 46 patients).

Aim: To study the prognostic value of magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) in patients with vegetative state/unresponsive wakefulness syndrome (VS/UWS).
Material And Methods: Thirty-four patients with VS/UWS underwent multi-voxel MRS (thalamus, globus pallidus, putamen, internal capsules, fornix, brainstem, temporal and frontal cortex). Subjects were grouped according to etiology: 22 patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) (group 1) and 12 patients with a hypoxia (group 2).
