CRISPR/Cas9-mediated GhFT-targeted mutagenesis prolongs indeterminate growth and alters plant architecture in cotton.

Plant Sci

December 2024

Center for Crop Biotechnology, College of Agriculture, Anhui Science and Technology University, Chuzhou 239000, Anhui, China. Electronic address:

The shift from vegetative to reproductive growth is an important developmental transition that affects flowering and maturation, architecture, and ecological adaptability in plants. The florigen-antiflorigen system universally controls flowering and plant architecture, and changes to the ratio of these components alter this transition and disrupt growth. The genes FT (FLOWERING LOCUS T), encoding the florigen protein FT, and CETS [CENTRORADIALIS (CEN)/TERMINAL FLOWER1 (TFL1)/SELF-PRUNING (SP)], encoding antiflorigen proteins, have opposing roles.

Panax ginseng is an important medicinal plant in China and is classified into two types: cultivated ginseng (CFCG) and mountain-cultivated ginseng (MCG). The two types of genetic varieties are the same, but the growth environments and management practices are different, resulting in substantial differences in their taproot morphology. Currently, there is a paucity of research on the internal mechanisms that regulate the phenotypic differences between cultivated ginseng and mountain-cultivated ginseng.

In order to enhance the quality of hot air drying for Tartary buckwheat sprouts and minimize the loss of active substances, this research explored the impact of Color Protection(CP), Osmosis(OM), Blanching (BC), β-cyclodextrin (β-CD), and Ultrasound (US) in conjunction with hot air drying on the color, nutritional value, antioxidant properties, and other attributes of Tartary buckwheat sprouts. The findings revealed that as the drying temperature increased from 50 °C to 70 °C, the drying duration for Tartary buckwheat sprouts decreased across all treatment groups, leading to a higher dehydration rate. Treatments involving CP, US, and BC effectively reduced the drying time of Tartary buckwheat sprouts.

Traditionally, fresh flowers (SJF) and flowers buds (SJFB) are dried prior to further processing and use. Here, we investigated the ways in which drying techniques, including sun drying (SD), steam drying (STD), microwave drying (MD), hot air drying (HAD, 40 °C, 60 °C, 80 °C, 100 °C), and freeze drying (FD), alter the flavonoid composition of freshly-harvested SJF and SJFB. The flavonoid content of dried samples was determined by Ultra High Performance Liquid Chromatography-Diode Array Detector (UPLC-DAD).
