Care for sexual health in oncology survey: Discussions about sexual health with people with cancer in the context of the obligation to provide informed consent.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to describe the impacts of cancer treatment on sexual health in a sample of people who had been treated for mixed types of cancer; to describe discussions they had with professionals about sexual health that occurred during cancer care; and to consider the extent to which these discussions were sufficient to enable participants to give informed consent for the sexual side effect of cancer treatment.

Method: A cross-sectional, online survey using a convenience sample of people with cancer was recruited via UK cancer charities. Eligibility criteria included having received treatment and follow-up care for any type of cancer in the UK during the previous 10 years.

This involved an in-depth synthesis of findings from our published studies to comprehensively examine the challenges to optimizing midwifery autonomy and to develop corresponding recommendations.

How to undertake a holistic nutritional assessment with older people.

Nutrition is a fundamental aspect of nursing care, however older people cared for in hospital, in a care home or in their own home do not always receive adequate support with their nutritional needs, which can leave them at risk of malnutrition. Using a holistic, biopsychosocial framework to support a comprehensive nutritional assessment that includes malnutrition screening can support the nurse to identify the older person's nutritional status and nutrition needs. Nurses undertaking this procedure must ensure they have the knowledge and skills to do so and work within the limits of their competence.

Humans' extreme face recognition abilities challenge the well-established familiarity effect.

Classification performance is better for learned than unlearned stimuli. This was also reported for faces, where identity matching of unfamiliar faces is worse than for familiar faces. This familiarity advantage led to the conclusion that variability across appearances of the same identity is partly idiosyncratic and cannot be generalized from familiar to unfamiliar identities.

The prevalence of pain catastrophising in nulliparous women in Nepal; the importance for childbirth.

In Lower-Middle-Income-Countries women are encouraged to present at a birthing facility for skilled care, but attending early can be associated with additional harm. Women admitted in latent labour are more likely to receive a cascade of unnecessary interventions compared with those attending a birthing facility during active labour. One reason that women present early is pain, with higher rates of admission among those who pain catastrophise.

Objective: The ArmeD SerVices TrAuma RehabilitatioN OutComE (ADVANCE) study is investigating long-term combat-injury outcomes; this sub-study aims to understand the association of osteoarthritis (OA) biomarkers with knee radiographic OA (rOA), pain and function in this high-risk population for post-traumatic OA.

Design: ADVANCE compares combat-injured participants with age, rank, deployment and job-role frequency-matched uninjured participants. Post-injury immunoassay-measured serum biomarkers, knee radiographs, Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Scale, and six-minute walk tests are reported.
