Checklist for studies of HIV drug resistance prevalence or incidence: rationale and recommended use.

HIV drug resistance (HIVDR) is a major challenge to the effectiveness of antiretroviral therapy. Global efforts in addressing HIVDR require clear, transparent, and replicable reporting in HIVDR studies. We describe the rationale and recommended use of a checklist that should be included in reports of HIVDR incidence and prevalence.

Low back-pain among school-teachers in Southern Tunisia: prevalence and predictors.

Objectives: In the professional environment, low back pain (LBP) is a multifactorial symptomatology, despite scientific and technological advances in the design and the arrangement of increasingly ergonomic workstations. Teachers are not exempt from this risk, due to prolonged sitting or standing. In light of this, this study aimed to estimate LBP prevalence among teachers in Southern Tunisia and to identify their determinants.

Reproducibility of transthoracic 3D echocardiography in the assessment of mitral valve area in patients with rheumatic mitral stenosis: real time versus ECG-gated 3D echocardiography.

Purpose: To assess reproducibility of Real time 3D echocardiography (RT3D) and ECG-gated 3D echocardiography (EG3D) when measuring the mitral valve area (MVA) in rheumatic mitral stenosis (MS).

Methods: MVA was assessed by three operators in 68 MS patients using RT3D and EG3D. Reproducibility of each technique was determined by calculating the standard error of measurements (SEM).

Juvenile Dermatomyositis Without Skin Lesions in an Antinuclear Matrix Protein 2 Antibody Seropositive Pediatric Case.

We report a 5-year-old boy who presented with progressive weakness in 4 limbs and gait disorders over 7 months. No skin rash was observed on admission. A symmetrical proximodistal weakness was found.

Noncalcifying type of calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor: A rare case report and literature review.

Introduction: Appropriate knowledge of healthcare professionals (HCPs) on the various aspects of disinfection and reuse of medical devices is a basic requirement to ensure proper disinfection and to minimize the risk of healthcare associated infections. In this regard this study aimed to assess the effectiveness of a training intervention on knowledge and practices regarding thermosensitive reusable medical devices (TRMD) disinfection among HCPs.

Methods: This was a quasi-experimental study including a pre-test, an intervention (workshops, demonstrations, posters), and a post-test evaluation of the HCPs' knowledge and practices regarding the disinfection of TRMD.

Metanephric adenoma diagnosed on biopsy in an infant: a case report.

Background: Metanephric adenoma is a rare benign renal tumor of the kidney, uncommonly observed in children. It is often misdiagnosed preoperatively as a malignant neoplasm, leading to an unnecessary nephrectomy. The challenge is to make the right diagnosis preoperatively and therefore manage it with conservative surgery.

Elective surgery cancellations in pediatric surgery: rate and reasons.

Introduction: Canceling pediatric elective surgery leads to multiple disturbances regarding the inefficient operating room (OR) management, the financial repercussions, and the psychological impact on the patient and his family. This study aims to identify the reasons for cancellations among the pediatric population in our setting and suggest some convenient solutions.

Mobile Phone-Based Telemonitoring for Improving Adherence to Analgesic Treatment in Trauma Patients After Emergency Department Discharge: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

Objective: To determine the impact of mobile-phone telemonitoring on patients' adherence and satisfaction with posttrauma pain treatment.

Materials And Methods: We conducted a prospective randomized clinical trial including patients with minor trauma discharged from the emergency department (ED) with analgesic treatment. Patients were randomized to one of 3 groups, the control group, where patients received a phone call on day-7, the short message service (SMS) group, where patients received a daily text message to remind them to take their treatment during 7 days, and the mobile-phone based telemonitoring (TLM) group.

Post-traumatic cerebral venous sinus thrombosis in an intensive care unit: A case series of ten patients.

Post-traumatic cerebral venous sinus thrombosis is one of the several causes of cerebral venous thrombosis, but its early diagnosis and management are still difficult in this traumatic context. Our objective is to describe clinical and radiological presentations and to report specific management and outcomes of this rare post-traumatic complication. We reported in this manuscript a case series of 10 patients hospitalized in the intensive care department with post-traumatic cerebral venous thrombosis.
