Inflammation is a mediator of a number of chronic pathologies. We synthesized the diethyl (9Z,12Z)-octadeca-9,12-dien-1-ylphosphonate, called NKS3, which decreased lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced mRNA upregulation of proinflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α) not only in primary intraperitoneal and lung alveolar macrophages, but also in freshly isolated mice lung slices. The in-silico studies suggested that NKS3, being CD36 agonist, will bind to GPR120.

Spoligotyping was developed as a molecular genotyping technique used to determine strain-types, though recent advances in whole genome sequencing (WGS) technology have led to their characterization using SNP-based sub-lineage nomenclature. Despite the progress made in treatments, melanoma is one of the cancers for which its incidence and mortality have increased during recent decades. In the research of new therapeutic strategies, natural polyphenols such as chrysin could be good candidates owing to their capacities to modulate the different fundamental aspects of tumorigenesis and resistance mechanisms, such as oxidative stress and neoangiogenesis. (1) Background: Immunosuppression is a key barrier to effective anti-cancer therapies, particularly in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), an aggressive and difficult to treat form of breast cancer. We investigated here whether the combination of doxorubicin, a standard chemotherapy in TNBC with glyceryltrinitrate (GTN), a nitric oxide (NO) donor, could overcome chemotherapy resistance and highlight the mechanisms involved in a mouse model of TNBC. Viral-mediated delivery of the CRISPR-Cas9 system is one the most commonly used techniques to modify the genome of a cell, with the aim of analyzing the function of the targeted gene product. While these approaches are rather straightforward for membrane-bound proteins, they can be laborious for intracellular proteins, given that selection of full knockout (KO) cells often requires the amplification of single-cell clones. Moreover, viral-mediated delivery systems, besides the Cas9 and gRNA, lead to the integration of unwanted genetic material, such as antibiotic resistance genes, introducing experimental biases.

This paper proposes a new flexible discrete triplet Lindley model that is constructed from the balanced discretization principle of the extended Lindley distribution. This model has several appealing statistical properties in terms of providing exact and closed form moment expressions and handling all forms of dispersion. Due to these, this paper explores further the usage of the discrete triplet Lindley as an innovation distribution in the simple integer-valued autoregressive process (INAR(1)).

The four natural DNA bases (A, T, G and C) associate in base pairs (A=T and G≡C), allowing the attached DNA strands to assemble into the canonical double helix of DNA (or duplex-DNA, also known as B-DNA). The intrinsic supramolecular properties of nucleobases make other associations possible (such as base triplets or quartets), which thus translates into a diversity of DNA structures beyond B-DNA. To date, the alphabet of DNA structures is ripe with approximately 20 letters (from A- to Z-DNA); however, only a few of them are being considered as key players in cell biology and, by extension, valuable targets for chemical biology intervention.

Introduction: Hyperosmolar solutions are prescribed in neurosurgery patients to provide satisfactory intraoperative brain relaxation and to lower cerebral injuries related to surgical retractors. Mannitol is traditionally considered as the first-choice solution for brain relaxation in neurosurgery patients. Hypertonic sodium lactate infusion was reported to provide a higher and longer osmotic effect compared to mannitol in severely brain-injured patients and to prevent impaired cerebral energetics related to brain injuries.
