Identifying predictors of long-term treatment outcomes using narratives from written exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy for PTSD.

Objective: Cognitive processing therapy (CPT), a 12-session, gold-standard treatment for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and written exposure therapy (WET), a brief, five-session treatment, have similar treatment efficacy. The aim of the present study was to identify predictors of long-term treatment outcomes of WET and CPT using clients' written narratives.

Method: Narratives from both treatments were coded with the Change and Growth Experiences Scale coding system to identify predictors of long-term PTSD symptom outcomes.

The objective of this study was to examine the experiences and expertise of Black mental health professionals (BMHPs) who work with Black racial trauma across the lifespan. Authors conducted a qualitative study with a critical-ideological paradigm as the methodology of this study. Twenty-five BMHPs (psychologists and counselors) were interviewed about their experiences working with Black clients suffering from racial trauma.

The US overdose crisis is driving a surge in HIV diagnoses among persons who inject drugs (PWID). Innovative approaches are needed to address this increase in cases. Although HIV self-testing (HIVST) was hailed as a potential "game-changer" upon initial approval by the Food and Drug Administration over a decade ago, this convenient testing modality has not reached its full potential to impact the HIV epidemic.

Background: Systemic sclerosis-related pulmonary hypertension (SSc-PH) is a heterogeneous disease, often complicated by concomitant left ventricular (LV) dysfunction. However, the contribution of heterogeneity in LV dysfunction is unclear. The objective in this study was to identify regional clusters of LV longitudinal strain via echocardiography to determine how subgroups of LV dysfunction contribute to mortality in SSc-PH.

Associations of plasma extracellular microRNAs with new-onset breast cancer in the Framingham heart study.

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths among women. Multiple microRNAs (miRNAs) have been reported to be associated with breast cancer progression or metastasis. The purpose of the current study was to identify plasma extracellular miRNAs associated with incident breast cancer.

Indolent infections in patients with hematologic malignancy: A single-center experience screening for tuberculosis and strongyloidiasis prior to cytotoxic therapy in Boston.

Individuals with hematologic malignancy have increased risk of latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) reactivation and (SS) dissemination. However, screening prior to chemotherapy or corticosteroids is not routine. We conducted a LTBI and SS screening intervention amongst patients with hematologic malignancies.

Harm reduction for perinatal cannabis use: protocol for a scoping review of clinical practices.

Introduction: The American College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists recommends against cannabis use during pregnancy and lactation ('perinatal cannabis use') given its association with negative parent-child health outcomes. However, cannabis is becoming increasingly available and used during pregnancy, and perceptions of safety are correspondingly increasing. For individuals who are unable or unwilling to cease use during pregnancy and lactation, harm reduction is the best available evidence-based practice to promote health.

Former American football players are at risk for developing traumatic encephalopathy syndrome (TES), the clinical disorder associated with neuropathologically diagnosed chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). The objective of this study was to determine whether hyposmia is present in traumatic encephalopathy syndrome. The study included 119 former professional American football players, 60 former college football players, and 58 same-age asymptomatic unexposed men from the DIAGNOSE CTE Research Project.

MOUD use among Hispanic clients increased post-ACA, yet differed by heritage and geographic location.

Dermoid Cyst of Conjunctival Origin Attached to the Tarsus in a Pediatric Patient.

Dermoid cysts of cutaneous origin are common orbital lesions, whereas dermoid cysts of conjunctival origin are rare. The authors present a case of a dermoid cyst of conjunctival origin that was attached to the tarsus in a pediatric patient. A 2-year-old boy presented to the clinic with an approximately 2 cm in diameter mobile nodule in the upper eyelid on the temporal side that distorted the eyelid architecture with temporal ptosis.

Factors Associated with Loss to Follow-Up in Pediatric Concussion Patients after Initial Visit: A Retrospective Study at a Concussion Clinic.

Objective: The objective of this retrospective study is to identify factors associated with loss to follow-up for postconcussion clearance in pediatric patients by comparing loss to follow-up and full clearance patients.

Study Design: This retrospective single-center cohort study analyzed 140 consecutive patients at a pediatric concussion clinic of a safety-net hospital for loss to follow-up, defined as not achieving clearance at last appointment. Univariate and multivariate regression models were fit on variables of interest, including demographic, mechanism and severity of concussion, and characteristics of the first evaluation postconcussion and follow-up management.

Obfuscation via pitch-shifting for balancing privacy and diagnostic utility in voice-based cognitive assessment.

Introduction: Digital voice analysis is gaining traction as a tool to differentiate cognitively normal from impaired individuals. However, voice data poses privacy risks due to the potential identification of speakers by automated systems.

Methods: We developed a framework that uses weighted linear interpolation of privacy and utility metrics to balance speaker obfuscation and cognitive integrity in cognitive assessments.

Eating Disorders, Co-Morbid Disorders and Early Risk Factors Amongst Post-9/11 Veteran Men and Women.

Objective: To assess, by interview, the rates of eating disorders in a nationally representative sample of recent veterans, describe their DSM-5 eating disorder diagnoses and the occurrence of comorbid psychiatric disorders. To conduct an exploratory case-control analysis of previously documented and additional specific military risk factors before eating disorder onset to inform studies of prospective risk.

Method: Using a two-stage design, probable cases and controls were identified by screening questionnaires from a sample of 1494 veterans who completed a survey study and interviewed to establish case status and confirm probable co-morbid psychiatric diagnoses.
