Background: The best management of symptomatic patients with low-gradient (LG) severe aortic stenosis (AS) and preserved left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) has not been established. The Randomised study for the Optimal Treatment of symptomatic patients with low-gradient severe Aortic valve Stenosis (ROTAS) trial aimed to assess the superiority of aortic valve replacement (AVR) versus medical treatment (MT) in this specific group of AS patients.
Methods: Patients with symptomatic LG severe AS and preserved LVEF (>50%) underwent dobutamine stress echocardiography and/or CT-aortic calcium score to confirm AS severity and were then randomised 1:1 to AVR or MT.

To counter the spread of COVID-19, the French government imposed several stringent social and political measures across its entire population. We hereto assess the impact of these political decisions on healthcare access in 2020, focusing on patients who suffered from an ischemic stroke. We divide our analysis into four distinct periods: the pre-COVID-19 pandemic period, the lockdown period, the "in-between" or transitional period, and the shutdown period.

Because Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a rare disease, and due to the significant prognostic impact of early management, a diagnosis confirmed by a physician with experience in SLE is recommended, for example from an expert center. Once the diagnosis is confirmed, existing manifestations should be identified in particular, renal involvement by an assessment of proteinuria, disease activity and severity should be determined, potential complications anticipated, associated diseases searched for, and the patient's socioprofessional and family context noted. Therapeutic management of SLE includes patient education on recognizing symptoms, understanding disease progression as well as when they should seek medical advice.

Background: Right ventricular (RV) hemodynamic performance determines the prognosis of patients with RV pressure overload. Using ultrafast ultrasound, natural wave velocity (NWV) induced by cardiac valve closure was proposed as a new surrogate to quantify myocardial stiffness.
Objectives: This study aimed to assess RV NWV in rodent models and children with RV pressure overload vs control subjects and to correlate NWV with RV hemodynamic parameters.

Tafasitamab plus lenalidomide (TAFA-LEN) treatment relevance pre- or post-anti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy is debated. We analyzed patients with large B-cell lymphoma in the DESCAR-T registry treated with axi[1]cel or tisa-cel in ≥3rd line and TAFA-LEN before (n = 15, "TL-pre-CAR-T" set) or directly after (n = 52, "TL-post-CAR-T" set) CAR T-cell therapy. We compared TAFA-LEN v.

The association of autoimmune cytopenia (AIC) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has been reported in small series, but the incidence of and risk factors for IBD in children with AIC are not known. One thousand six hundred nine children with chronic immune thrombocytopenic purpura, autoimmune haemolytic anaemia or Evans syndrome from the prospective OBS'CEREVANCE cohort are included in this study. Overall, 15 children were diagnosed with IBD, including 14 who developed IBD after AIC diagnosis (median delay: 21 months).

Background And Purpose: So-called contrast-induced encephalopathy (CIE) is a rare but worrying condition occurring after cerebral angiography or neuroendovascular interventions using iodine contrast media. This study aimed to compare cerebral iodine concentrations in patients suspected of having CIE after endovascular procedures to those in matched controls.
Methods: This is a retrospective monocentric study of 25 suspected CIE patients in a tertiary care teaching hospital diagnosed from June 2017 to February 2024.

Introduction: The environmental impact of endoscopy is a topic of growing interest. This study aimed to compare the carbon footprint of performing an esogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) with a reusable (RU) or with a single-use (SU) disposable gastroscope.
Methods: SU (Ambu aScope Gastro) and RU gastroscopes (Olympus, H190) were evaluated using life cycle assessment methodology (ISO 14040) including the manufacture, distribution, usage, reprocessing and disposal of the endoscope.

Background: Despite the minimally invasive approach and early rehabilitation, abdominal-perineal resection (APR) remains a procedure with high morbidity, notably due to postoperative trapped bowel ileus and perineal healing complications. Several surgical techniques have been described for filling the pelvic void to prevent abscess formation and ileus by trapped bowel loop.
Objective: The aim of our study was to compare the post APR complications for cancer of two of these techniques, omentoplasty and cecal mobilization, in a single-center study from an expert colorectal surgery center.

Objective: To examine the risk factors for severe pain upon discharge from the emergency department, assuming appropriate pharmacological treatment of pain, in order to improve pain relief in emergency departments and reduce the risk of potential chronic pain.
Methods: An analytic study was conducted utilizing data from a multicenter randomized controlled trial to evaluate patients' experiences upon admission and discharge from the emergency department (ED). Severe pain was defined by a score of six on a numerical rating scale of zero to ten.
