Effects of a mindfulness-based versus a health self-management intervention on objective cognitive performance in older adults with subjective cognitive decline (SCD): a secondary analysis of the SCD-Well randomized controlled trial.

Background: Older individuals with subjective cognitive decline (SCD) perceive that their cognition has declined but do not show objective impairment on neuropsychological tests. Individuals with SCD are at elevated risk of objective cognitive decline and incident dementia. Non-pharmacological interventions (including mindfulness-based and health self-management approaches) are a potential strategy to maintain or improve cognition in SCD, which may ultimately reduce dementia risk.

Impaired Facial Emotion Recognition and Gaze Direction Detection in Mild Alzheimer's Disease: Results from the PACO Study.

Background: Facial emotion recognition (FER) and gaze direction (GD) identification are core components of social cognition, possibly impaired in many psychiatric or neurological conditions. Regarding Alzheimer's disease (AD), current knowledge is controversial.

Processing of Facial Expressions of Emotions and Pain in Alzheimer's Disease.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative pathology that disrupts processing of facial expressions of emotion. The impairment was demonstrated for negative emotions in tasks of matching, discriminating, and labeling facial expressions but no study has included the expression of pain in its protocol.

Objective: The objective was to study the processing of emotional facial expressions in AD with a particular interest in pain expression.

Caregiving-related experiences associated with depression severity and its symptomatology among caregivers of individuals with a severe mental disorder: an online cross-sectional study.

Caring for a relative with a severe mental disorder puts family caregivers to a great risk of depression. While overall caregiving burden is a strong predictor of depression, the contribution of the various dimensions of burden to caregivers' depression as well as their relationships with depressive symptoms has received little attention. 384 family caregivers completed a cross-sectional online survey including the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression (CES-D) scale, the Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI), and the Brief Experience of Caregiving Inventory (BECI), measuring caregiving burden and experience.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection fatality rate (IFR) doubles with every 5 y of age from childhood onward. Circulating autoantibodies neutralizing IFN-α, IFN-ω, and/or IFN-β are found in ∼20% of deceased patients across age groups, and in ∼1% of individuals aged <70 y and in >4% of those >70 y old in the general population. With a sample of 1,261 unvaccinated deceased patients and 34,159 individuals of the general population sampled before the pandemic, we estimated both IFR and relative risk of death (RRD) across age groups for individuals carrying autoantibodies neutralizing type I IFNs, relative to noncarriers.

Monitoring of SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater: what normalisation for improved understanding of epidemic trends?

SARS-CoV-2 RNA quantification in wastewater has emerged as a relevant additional means to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the concentration can be affected by black water dilution factors or movements of the sewer shed population, leading to misinterpretation of measurement results. The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of different indicators to accurately interpret SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater.

Pesticide Exposure in Fruit-Growers: Comparing Levels and Determinants Assessed under Usual Conditions of Work (CANEPA Study) with Those Predicted by Registration Process (Agricultural Operator Exposure Model).

Knowledge of pesticide exposure levels in farmers is necessary for epidemiological studies and regulatory purposes. In the European pesticide registration process, operators' exposure is predicted using the Agricultural Operator Exposure Model (AOEM), created in 2014 by the European Food Safety Authority based on studies conducted by the pesticide industry. We compared operators' exposures during treatment days in the apple-growing industry under non-controlled working conditions and AOEM-predicted values.

PHACTR-1 (Phosphatase and Actin Regulator 1) Deficiency in Either Endothelial or Smooth Muscle Cells Does Not Predispose Mice to Nonatherosclerotic Arteriopathies in 3 Transgenic Mice.

Background: Genome-wide association studies have revealed robust associations of common genetic polymorphisms in an intron of the PHACTR-1 (phosphatase and actin regulator 1) gene (chr6p24), with cervical artery dissection, spontaneous coronary artery dissection, and fibromuscular dysplasia. The aim was to assess its role in the pathogenesis of cervical artery dissection or fibromuscular dysplasia.

Methods: Using various tissue-specific Cre-driver mouse lines, was deleted either in endothelial cells using 2 tissue-specific Cre-driver (PDGFB [platelet-derived growth factor B]-Cre mice and Tie2 [tyrosine kinase with immunoglobulin and EGF homology domains]-Cre) and smooth muscle cells (smooth muscle actin-Cre) with a third tissue-specific Cre-driver.

Association between depressive symptoms and long-term heart rate variability in older women: Findings from a population-based cohort.

Introduction: Cross-sectional studies highlighted changes in autonomic nervous system (ANS) activity in geriatric depression. However, few longitudinal studies assessed this link which remains still debated. We examined the longitudinal association between lifetime depression history, current depressive disorders, and the evolution of ANS activity in older community women.

DNA methylation mediates the association between breastfeeding and early-life growth trajectories.

Background: The role of breastfeeding in modulating epigenetic factors has been suggested as a possible mechanism conferring its benefits on child development but it lacks evidence. Using extensive DNA methylation data from the ALSPAC child cohort, we characterized the genome-wide landscape of DNA methylation variations associated with the duration of exclusive breastfeeding and assessed whether these variations mediate the association between exclusive breastfeeding and BMI over different epochs of child growth.

Results: Exclusive breastfeeding elicits more substantial DNA methylation variations during infancy than at other periods of child growth.

Background: Time to next treatment or death (TNT-D) may be a patient-relevant endpoint in patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors. This study investigated TNT-D as a surrogate endpoint (SE) for overall survival (OS) in previously untreated advanced melanoma patients.

Methods: Patient-level data from the 60-month results of the CheckMate 067 randomised, controlled trial were used.

This study explored the association between long-term exposure to airborne cadmium and risk of BC by stage, grade of differentiation, and histological types at diagnosis.

The comorbidity between physical and mental health conditions is challenging and frequently goes unrecognized in practice. Associations between Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and physical conditions have been reported in youth. However, prior research failed to: (1) address the patterns of associations in early childhood, middle childhood, and adolescence within the same population sample; (2) consider a large set of physical disorders at the same time; (3) take confounders into account.

Treatment and outcomes of older versus younger women with HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer in the real-world national ESME database.

Background: Treatment and outcomes of patients with HER2-positive (HER2+) metastatic breast cancer (MBC) have dramatically improved over the past 20 years. This work evaluated treatment patterns and outcomes according to age.

Methods: Women who initiated a treatment for HER2+ MBC between 2008 and 2016 in one of the 18 French comprehensive centers part of the ESME program were included.

Introduction: With the development of therapeutics and vaccine against Ebola virus disease (EVD), the question of post-exposure prophylaxis for high-risk contact has emerged. Immunotherapies (monoclonal antibodies [mAbs]) recently validated for treating infected patients appear to be a good candidate for protecting contacts.

Design: During the tenth EVD outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, we have administrated mAbs (Mab114 or REGN-EB3) to high and intermediate-risk contacts of EVD patients.

Blunted emotion judgments of body movements in Parkinson's disease.

Some of the behavioral disorders observed in Parkinson's disease (PD) may be related to an altered processing of social messages, including emotional expressions. Emotions conveyed by whole body movements may be difficult to generate and be detected by PD patients. The aim of the present study was to compare valence judgments of emotional whole body expressions in individuals with PD and in healthy controls matched for age, gender and education.

Cognitive decline as an outcome and marker of progression toward dementia, in early preventive trials.
