Background: The trend over time and across different geographical areas of outcomes and management with noninvasive ventilation or invasive mechanical ventilation in patients admitted for acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and treated with ventilatory support is unknown. The purpose of this study was to describe outcomes and identify variables associated with survival for patients admitted to an intensive care unit (ICU) with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease [aeCOPD] who received noninvasive or invasive mechanical ventilation worldwide.
Methods: Retrospective, multi-national, and multicenter studies, including four observational cohort studies, were carried out in 1998, 2004, 2010, and 2016 for the VENTILAGROUP following the same methodology.

Importance: Wrong-level spine surgery (WLSS), a medical error in which a surgeon operates at an unintended vertebral level, is considered a "never event." However, it continues to be a problem in spine surgery today despite the implementation of preventive measures such as the Universal Protocol. The consequences of this event are severe for both the afflicted patient and the treating physician and may result not only in physical harm but also in costly medicolegal proceedings.

Unlabelled: Gender disparity in Critical Care Medicine (CCM) persists globally, with women being underrepresented. Female Intensivists remain a minority, facing challenges in academic and leadership positions at the workplace and within academic societies. The Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM) recognized the need for addressing issues related to gender parity and constituted its first Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee in 2023.

Context: Concerns about brolucizumab's (Pagenax®) association with intraocular inflammation (IOI) limit its use despite its cost-effectiveness and efficacy. This multicentric study analyzes IOI incidence across 21 tertiary eyecare centers in India since its introduction in October 2020.
Purpose: To determine the real-world incidence rate of IOI in Indian patients secondary to intravitreal brolucizumab across 21 tertiary eye care centers in India.

Objective: The authors report the results of "only-fixation" of the affected spinal segment without any decompression of the bones or soft tissue or manipulation of the cyst wall or contents in eight cases having lumbar parafacetal cyst (LPFC). This surgical strategy was based on the concept that LPFCs are secondary to spinal instability, has a protective or adaptive role, and is reversible following stabilization.
Materials And Methods: During the period from January 2018 to January 2023, eight consecutive patients having LPFC were surgically treated.

This manuscript describes the Advanced Breast Cancer (ABC) international consensus guidelines updated at the last two ABC international consensus conferences (ABC 6 in 2021, virtual, and ABC 7 in 2023, in Lisbon, Portugal), organized by the ABC Global Alliance. It provides the main recommendations on how to best manage patients with advanced breast cancer (inoperable locally advanced or metastatic), of all breast cancer subtypes, as well as palliative and supportive care. These guidelines are based on available evidence or on expert opinion when a higher level of evidence is lacking.

Background: This is a report of a series of 14 patients who presented with a range of "atypical" cranial, spinal, and systemic symptoms that started after they suffered a relatively severe injury to the head and/or neck several months or years before surgical treatment. The implications of diagnosing and treating central or axial atlantoaxial dislocation (CAAD) is discussed. Also, the role of dynamic rotatory and lateral head tilt imaging in the diagnosis and treatment is analyzed.

Management of lateral and third ventricular tumors has been a challenge for neurosurgeons. Advances in imaging and pathology have helped in a better understanding of the treatment options. Technical refinement of microsurgical technique and addition of endoscopy has enabled more radical excision of tumors, when indicated, and added more safety.

Background: Fibrotic interstitial lung diseases (fILDs) are a heterogeneous group of lung diseases associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Despite a large increase in the number of clinical trials in the last 10 years, current regulatory-approved management approaches are limited to two therapies that prevent the progression of fibrosis. The drug development pipeline is long and there is an urgent need to accelerate this process.

Objective: We report our early clinical experience with image-guided, pencil beam scanning proton beam therapy (PBS-PBT) for residual and recurrent craniopharyngioma.
Methods: Between September 2019 and January 2023, 19 consecutive patients with residual or recurrent craniopharyngioma, suitable for radiotherapy and treated with image-guided PBS-PBT were analyzed. We documented detailed dosimetric data, acute toxicities, early outcomes, and imaging response on follow-up magnetic resonance imaging scans.

Purpose: The aims of the study were to document the outcomes of percutaneous Achilles tenotomy (pAT) performed in older children with clubfoot, by assessing the clinical, functional and ultrasonographic evidence of Achilles tendon regeneration.
Methods: A retrospective case series of older children with clubfoot treated between August 2011 and July 2020 was studied. Clinical assessment of ankle range of motion and calf strength, functional assessment of triceps surae muscle endurance by single leg heel-rise test, and ultrasonographic assessment of Achilles tendon echotexture and dimensions to assess tendon regeneration were performed.

Adrenal cysts are uncommon fluid-filled masses that develop in the adrenal gland. Typically, they are non-functional, asymptomatic, and smaller than 10 cm in diameter when incidentally detected. However, the presence of giant adrenal cysts, exceeding 10 cm in diameter, creates a diagnostic challenge due to the difficulty in determining their origin.
