Introduction: Lens management in phakic patients with rhegmatogenous retinal detachments undergoing para plana vitrectomy surgery remains controversial among vitreoretinal surgeons. When combined phacovitrectomy is performed, the biometry decisions can be challenging both in the face of macula-off rhegmatogenous retinal detachments and previous refractive surgery. This study analyses current trends in practise.

Marcus Gunn jaw winking synkinesis (MGJWS) occurs due to an aberrant innervation of the levator palpebrae superioris muscle by a branch of the motor division of the trigeminal nerve that supplies the muscles of mastication. MGJWS is mostly unilateral occurring in isolation and is less frequently associated with ocular or systemic abnormalities. Although MGJWS is mostly unilateral, few bilateral cases have been reported.

Descemet's membrane detachment (DD) is a rare but serious complication of intraocular surgery. In rare cases where corneal edema is severe and we may not be able to visualize DD on slit-lamp examination, anterior segment optical coherence tomogram (AS-OCT) would be helpful. We describe two patients with DD, highlighting the role of AS-OCT in early diagnosis and management of patients with DD.
