The Awareness of Methylphenidate and Its Use: Experiences and Perceptions of Medical Students.

Background and objective Over the past decade, the use of psychostimulants typically prescribed for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), such as methylphenidate (MP), has become popular among undergraduate students to enhance their academic performance. Despite potential health and legal repercussions, the misuse of these medications has become a significant public health issue, not only in the general population but particularly among students in medical schools across Turkey. This study investigated the prevalence of MP misuse among Turkish medical students and the factors contributing to it.

Objectives: Coronary microvascular dysfunction is present in large percentage of the population, and it has been shown to have a pathological and prognostic role in many conditions. Therefore, early detection of microvascular dysfunction is important, especially in selected populations. Institutional clinical indication-based typical dose values of multiphasic abdominopelvic computed tomography examinations.

Purpose: Our study aimed to obtain clinical indication-based typical dose values and size-specific dose estimates (SSDEs) for multiphasic abdominopelvic computed tomography (CT) examinations and to review our data with published diagnostic reference levels (DRLs).

Methods: In this retrospective study, multiphasic liver, kidney, pancreas, and mesenteric ischemia protocol CT scans performed at our center between January 2018 and December 2021 were analyzed. The clinical indications were hepatocellular carcinoma, renal cell carcinoma, pancreas adenocarcinoma, and mesenteric ischemia.

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders and is characterized by developmentally inappropriate, pervasive, and impairing symptoms of inattention and/or hyperactivity/impulsivity. Although not listed among the core symptoms, irritability, reduced tolerance to frustration, and labile mood are considered features associated with ADHD. Irritability refers to a tendency to get angry quickly and/or easily at a lower threshold of frustration and respond disproportionately to triggers.

Clinical results of high probability ventilation/perfusion scintigraphy in the diagnosis of pulmonary embolism.

Purpose: While computed tomography pulmonary angiography plays an effective role in the diagnosis and prognosis of pulmonary embolism (PE), there are not enough studies regarding ventilation/perfusion (V/Q) scintigraphy. We aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes of PE patients whose V/Q scintigraphy was reported as high probability for PE.

Method: Demographic data, Simplified Pulmonary Embolism Severity Index (SPESI), radiological findings, V/Q scintigraphy and echocardiographic (ECHO) findings, laboratory data, treatment information and comorbidities of 43 patients whose V/Q scintigraphy was reported as high probability for PE between January 2020 and January 2023 was recorded.

Objective: To comparatively investigate the periodontal results and microbial load in subgingival biofilm samples (SBS) in rheumatoid arthritis subjects and healthy volunteers.

Background: In this study, we aimed to evaluate the serum neurotensin (NT) levels and their relationships with self-reported anxiety, emotion regulation skills and impulsivity in healthy and obese adolescents.

Methods: Adolescents who gained weight between 12- 17 years of age and who were above the 95th percentile (p) for body mass index (BMI) > 95p were compared with age- and gender-matched healthy adolescents with a BMI of 3-85 p. Anthropometric measurements were performed, and serum NT levels were analyzed with ELISA method in all participants.
