Part-time clinical nurse instructors teach students in many nursing schools in the United States. They are often unprepared for this role and require instruction in teaching methods. We developed and evaluated an online orientation program to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for nurses to become confident clinical instructors.

Outcomes of Age-Friendly Health Systems: Return to Clinic After 4Ms Care Delivery.

The Age-Friendly Health System (AFHS) movement continues to grow in the United States as more health systems implement the 4Ms framework. Despite this growth, there are relatively few studies that evaluate outcomes related to AFHS implementation. This study assessed patient satisfaction with AFHS by analyzing the rate at which patients returned to the clinic for future health care, serving as a measure of quality.

A concept analysis of the recurrence-related to diabetic foot ulcers.

Background And Purpose: There is inconsistency and lack of conceptual clarity regarding the concept of "recurrence" in diabetes-related foot ulcers. Therefore, the purpose of this concept analysis is to analyze the concept of recurrence-related to diabetes-related foot ulcer after the healing of a previous foot ulcer.

Method: The Rodger's evolutionary concept analysis method was employed to analyze the concept of recurrence in diabetes-related foot ulcers.

Changes of health-related quality of life within 6 months after stroke by clinical and sociodemographic factors.

Stroke causes functional disabilities and reduces the quality of life of stroke survivors. This retrospective cohort study aimed to examine changes in health-related quality of life (HRQoL) six months after a stroke and the effect of stroke characteristics and sociodemographic factors on HRQoL. Participants completed a questionnaire that included the stroke characteristics, sociodemographic characteristics, and the 5-level European Quality of Life 5 dimensions (EQ-5D-5L) before discharge.

Feasibility and Acceptability of Collecting Passive Smartphone Data for Potential Use in Digital Phenotyping Among Family Caregivers and Patients With Advanced Cancer.

Purpose: Modeling passively collected smartphone sensor data (called digital phenotyping) has the potential to detect distress among family caregivers and patients with advanced cancer and could lead to novel clinical models of cancer care. The purpose of this study was to assess the feasibility and acceptability of collecting passive smartphone data from family caregivers and their care recipients with advanced cancer over 24 weeks.

Methods: This was an observational feasibility study.

Administration patterns of magnesium sulphate for women with preeclampsia and immediate newborn outcomes in Kawempe National Referral Hospital-Uganda: a cohort study.

Background: Preeclampsia is the second leading cause of maternal death in Uganda. WHO recommends using magnesium sulphate (MgSO4) to prevent and treat preeclampsia with severe features (PEC) and eclampsia. MgSO4 is used to prevent eclampsia and treat women who experience an eclamptic convulsion to avoid severe maternal/infant illnesses and death.

Acquiring Resourcefulness Skills: Formal Versus Informal Training.

Background: Although resourcefulness has been successfully taught during formal training programs, it can also be acquired informally through life experiences. Family caregivers have many opportunities for learning to be resourceful on their own and those who participate in research may acquire knowledge or skills that increase their resourcefulness. The effects of such differential experiences on the resourcefulness of family caregivers have not been examined over time.

Analysis of Ohio Nurses' Voting Behaviors 2020-2023.

This study provides baseline data for voting patterns and the political affiliation of licensed nurses (licensed practical nurses [LPNs], registered nurses [RNs], and advanced practice registered nurses [APRNs]) in Ohio for the November 2020, 2022, and 2023 general elections. Using two public databases (licensed nurses and registered voters), the findings for 73.7% of all licensed nurses registered to vote are reported, including 18,894 APRNs, 30,731 LPNs, and 137,353 RNs.

The aim of the study was to examine the psychometric properties of the Sickle Cell Self-efficacy Scale (SCSES) in an anonymous, online cohort of adults with sickle cell disease (SCD). The SCSES was completed by 60 adults with SCD. An exploratory factor analysis was conducted.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the negative impact of moral injury on nurses' well-being. However, there is a lack of research about generational differences among nurses, particularly on newer nurses who have been identified as having a higher rate of intention to leave.

Objective: This study examines generational differences among nurses on moral injury, well-being, resilience, and intention to leave their nursing position and profession.

Evaluation of a Stress, Coping, and Resourcefulness Program for VA Nurses During the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic, combined with the shortage of nursing staff, contributed to higher levels of stress. Sustained stress has been associated with burnout. However, nurses have traditionally demonstrated resourcefulness skills that resulted in building resilience.

Discrimination and sleep disturbance among older Black Americans: A longitudinal analysis of the Health and Retirement Study.

Objectives: Black and older adults have higher risk for sleep problems than their White and younger counterparts. Yet, our understanding of the determinants of sleep problems specifically among older Black adults is severely limited. The aim of this study was to determine whether everyday and major discrimination are longitudinally associated with sleep disturbance in a nationally representative sample of older Black adults.

Preparedness of Practicing Nurses in the Care of Sexual and Gender Diverse People in the United States: A Scoping Review.

Background: Sexual and gender diverse (SGD) people in the United States (US) experience health inequities due to societal stigma and marginalisation. The nursing workforce must provide evidence-based affirming, inclusive and culturally responsive care for SGD people to meet individual and community health needs and eliminate disparities.

Aims: The purpose of this scoping review was to synthesise what is known about (1) nurses' knowledge, skills and attitudes related to caring for SGD people in the US and (2) the existence, development and evaluation of SGD-related educational offerings available to practicing nurses in the US to develop the knowledge and skills needed to promote the health and wellbeing of SGD individuals, families and communities.
