Tc NMR has been suggested as an original method of evaluating the content of oxygen isotopes in oxygen-18-enriched water, a precursor for the production of radioisotope fluorine-18 used in positron emission tomography. To this end, solutions of NH TcO or NaTcO (up to 0.28 mol/L) with natural abundance of oxygen isotopes in virgin or recycled O-enriched water have been studied by Tc NMR.

The mechanisms of antitumor effect of cifetrelin have been studied in vitro on cultured MCF-7 breast carcinoma cells. Cifetrelin exhibits higher cytotoxic activity than native somatostatin. In subthreshold concentrations, cifetrelin boosts the apoptotic effects of drugs, e.

Studies of mouse ear epidermis showed that proliferative activity of basal epidermal cells has two active and two passive phases throughout 24 h. Active phases consist of two subphases: long (proliferation of cambial cell descendants) and very short (cambial cell proliferation). Cambial cells proliferate at the boundary between active and passive phases; this results in an increase in the counts of epidermal melanocytes and Langerhans cells resultant from division of epidermal cambial cells.

Serum concentrations of κ- and λ-free light chains and their ratios were compared in 126 patients with monoclonal gammapathies (age 23-80 years) and 60 normal subjects (25-82 years). The main group included patients with intact immunoglobulin multiple myeloma, Bence Jones multiple myeloma, nonsecreting multiple myeloma, plasmocytoma, and monoclonal gammapathy of unknown origin. The accuracy of the method was evaluated by the analysis of 3 serum specimens with different concentrations of κ- and λ-free light chains.

Study of the early embryogenesis process based on the previously suggested scheme of epithelial cambial cell work has shown that cambial (or stem) cells originate from the primary ectoderm and intensely express RhoA protein and slightly express Src kinase. This explains their stem properties and the absence of differentiation. Primary sex cells are separated stem cells getting into an environment which expresses (to a certain measure) Src kinase in them and causes their polarization and specialization.

We studied the effects of carbon adsorbent hemoperfusion on the dynamics of LPS and cytokine concentrations in the blood of cancer patients with sepsis and septic shock. In addition, hemadsorbent washout fluid specimens after hemoperfusion were analyzed. A significant (3-fold) reduction of blood LPS levels after hemoperfusion was found, while shifts in free cytokine levels in the sera were negligible.

A method for decellularization of the trachea for subsequent repopulation with allogenic MSC was optimized. Tracheas from C57BL/6 mice were devitalized and repopulated with MSC from BALB/c mice. The tracheal matrix with devitalized mucosa and intact cartilaginous structure, fit for repopulation with allogenic MSC, was obtained by chemical treatment with NaClO4.

The content of activated (phosphorylated) form of proteinkinase B in tumors and homologous tissues of 46 patients with breast cancer was measured by enzyme immunoassay. Activity of proteinkinase B was increased in tumors of 48% patients in comparison with homologous histologically unchanged tissue. Activity of proteinkinase B in hormone-dependent mammary tumors was significantly higher than in tumor tissue from patients with negative receptor status.

The role of androgen metabolism and individual androgen metabolites in rat pituitary gland and hypothalamus is discussed on the basis of published data and results of our experiments. It is proposed that metabolism of androgens in these structures is aimed at the formation of not only true sex steroids estradiol-17 beta and 5 alpha-dihydrotestosterone, but also of androgens contributing to the regulation of cell processes, i.e.
