Purpose: Prognostic impact of left ventricular diastolic dysfunction (LVDD) in septic shock patients has not been determined using current diagnostic guidelines. We assessed the relation between LVDD during the first 3 days following intensive care unit (ICU) admission for septic shock and Day-28 mortality.
Methods: This prospective, multicenter, observational study enrolled 402 patients (age: 63 ± 13 year; 59% male; SAPS II: 59 ± 20; SOFA: 9.

Background: Angioedema (AE) due to acquired C1-inhibitor deficiency (AAE-C1-INH) is a rare disease associating recurrent edema of mucosa and skin. Several underlying diseases have been reported, mainly lymphoproliferative diseases and monoclonal gammopathy. However, 15 to 20% of patients never exhibit such a hematological condition.

Background: This study assesses the effectiveness of 5 main conversional or revisional metabolic bariatric surgery sequences after sleeve gastrectomy, adjustable gastric banding and gastric bypass on reimbursement and cost of continuous positive airway pressure therapy, the first line treatment for obstructive sleep apnea, in France.
Methods: This nationwide observational population-based cohort study analyzed data from the French National Health Insurance database. It included all patients who had undergone primary metabolic bariatric surgery in France between January 1, 2012, and December 31, 2014, and followed until December 31, 2020.

Background: Esophageal cancer posed significant global health challenges, particularly due to poor survival rates, especially in advanced stages. Primary endoscopic resection had emerged as an alternative treatment for early esophageal cancer, aiming to preserve organ function and reduce surgical morbidity.
Methods: This retrospective multicenter cohort study included 334 patients with early esophageal cancer (T1a-b, N0) from 30 French-speaking European centers between 2000 and 2010.

Background: Few large-scale prospective cohort studies have assessed the changes in antidiabetic treatments after RBS.
Method: This nationwide observational population-based cohort study analyzed data from the French National Health Insurance Database.

Objective: Acute graft pyelonephritis (AGPN) is the most frequent infectious complication in kidney transplant recipients (KTR). The treatment of acute community-acquired (CA) pyelonephritis is based on third-generation cephalosporins (3GC) and fluoroquinolones. Cefepime or a piperacillin-tazobactam combination are more often used in healthcare-associated (HCA) infections.

Background: Although several prognostic factors in GIST have been well studied such as tumour size, mitotic rate, or localization, the influence of microscopic margins or R1 resection remains controversial. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of R1 resection on the prognosis of GIST in a large multicentre retrospective series of patients.
Methods: From 2001 to 2013, 1413 patients who underwent surgery for any site of GIST were identified from 61 European centers.

Background: French policymakers recently chose to regulate high-risk digestive cancer surgery (DCS). A minimum of five cases per year should be performed for each of the following types of curative cancer surgery: esophagus/esogastric junction (ECS), stomach (GCS), liver (LCS, metastasis included), pancreas (PCS), and rectum (RCS). This study aimed to evaluate the hypothetical beneficial effects of the new legal minimal volume thresholds on the rates of 90-day postoperative mortality (90POM) for each high-risk DCS.

Background: Bronchiectasis is a chronic airway disease characterized by permanent and irreversible abnormal dilatation of bronchi. Several studies have reported the development of bronchiectasis after renal transplantation (RT), but no prospective study specifically assessed bronchiectasis in this population. This study aimed to compare features of patients with bronchiectasis associated with RT to those with idiopathic bronchiectasis.

The incidence and risk factors of VTE within 1-year after esophageal (including esophago-gastric junction) (ECS) and gastric (GCS) cancer surgeries, and especially its impact on 1-year global mortality, are yet under-explored.
Methods: This nationwide observational population-based cohort study used data extracted from all patients undergoing ECS and GCS in France between 1 January 2015 and 31 December 2017.

Background: Pulmonary mucormycosis (PM) is a life-threatening invasive mold infection. Diagnosis of mucormycosis is challenging and often delayed, resulting in higher mortality.
Research Question: Are the disease presentation of PM and contribution of diagnosis tools influenced by the patient's underlying condition?
Study Design And Methods: All PM cases from six French teaching hospitals between 2008 and 2019 were retrospectively reviewed.

Objective: The aim was to assess the proportion of patients undergoing endovascular therapy for femoropopliteal arterial disease (FP) who would be eligible to take part in seven major randomised controlled trials (RCTs) that investigated the efficacy of some of the currently available paclitaxel based (PTX) devices used in this clinical context. Various RCTs have shown a potential clinical benefit from the use of paclitaxel in FP endovascular therapy. Nonetheless, patients enrolled were highly selected and the generalisability of these findings in pragmatic cohorts is unclear.

Purpose: Data are scarce regarding the experience of critically ill patients at high risk of death. Identifying their concerns could allow clinicians to better meet their needs and align their end-of-life trajectory with their preferences and values. We aimed to identify concerns expressed by conscious patients at high risk of dying in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Objective: A systematic review to assess the value of ultrasonography (US) for detecting enthesitis in juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA).
Methods: PubMed and Embase databases were searched for articles published from January 1966 to May 2021; we selected those meeting the inclusion criteria according to the US definition of enthesitis and metric properties studied. We assessed the clinical features of the population, study design, the type and number of entheses examined, the definition and scoring system of US enthesitis and metric properties according to the OMERACT filter (truth, discrimination and feasibility).

Methods: Practical guidelines were drafted on the initiative of the Coordinating Reference Center for Rare Pulmonary Diseases, led by the French Language Pulmonology Society (SPLF), by a coordinating group, a writing group, and a review group, with the involvement of the entire OrphaLung network, pulmonologists practicing in various settings, radiologists, pathologists, a general practitioner, a health manager, and a patient association. The method followed the "Clinical Practice Guidelines" process of the French National Authority for Health (HAS), including an online vote using a Likert scale.
