Endometrial carcinoma is rarely seen during reproductive ages and commonly related to infertility, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), and obesity. Pregnancy associated endometrial carcinoma is even rarer and this is the second case reported in the literature concerning tubal pregnancy associated endometrial carcinoma. We present a case of a 36-year-old woman with a history of PCOS, infertility, and several attempts of ovulation induction and in vitro fertilization, who was diagnosed with tubal pregnancy and a well differentiated endometrial carcinoma.

Meningitis due to fracture of the fovea ethmoidalis during external dacryocystorhinostomy is a rare complication. We report a case of pneumocephalus and meningitis in a 51-year-old female who underwent an external dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR). Although extracranial complications during or after external DCR have been well-described, only one case of meningitis has been reported in the literature.

Shunt dysfunction due to calcification of a ventriculo-peritoneal shunt: a case report.

This study was designed to evaluate the relationship between nonverbal IQ and brain size in men and women. A significant correlation was found between IQ and brain size in total subjects. There was no significant correlation between these variables in women; men exhibited only a weak relation of brain size to IQ.

Primary retroperitoneal liposarcoma.

A retroperitoneal liposarcoma that marginally involved the right kidney and ovary was presented clinically as an adnexial mass in a 61-year-old woman. At laparatomy a large retroperitoneal mass in addition to the right kidney and ovary was removed totally. A well-differentiated retroperitoneal liposarcoma was detected in histological speciment.

Thyroid function tests in pregnant women with and without goiter in the eastern Black Sea region.

Maternal thyroid function was investigated in 29 pregnant women with goiter and 51 pregnant women without goiter in the eastern Black Sea region of Turkey, which is an endemic goiter area. Ten women with goiter and 10 healthy women without goiter were used as controls in the study. In all of the pregnant women, increased concentrations of total and free thyroxine, total and free tri-iodothyronine and thyroxine-binding globulin were found.

Effect of cisapride on portal haemodynamics in patients with liver cirrhosis using duplex Doppler ultrasonography.

Purpose: Cisapride, a benzimide derivative, is a gastrointestinal prokinetic agent without dopamine-antagonistic or cholinomimetic effects. This study aims at assessing the effect of cisapride oral administration on portal flow in patients with advanced post hepatitic cirrhosis using duplex Doppler ultrasound (US).

Methods: A total of 12 patients with post-hepatitic liver cirrhosis were included in the study.

Addition of vanillic acid, acetovanillone, and protocatechuic acid increased the rate of hydrolysis of xylan by as much as 18-50% at low concentrations, but reached maxima at about 0.05% concentration.
