Background: Radial head fractures (RHFs) account for a considerable injury. This study focuses on the functional results of people who had open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF).
Objective: To evaluate the functional outcomes of Mason type II and III RHFs treated with ORIF using the Mayo Elbow Performance Score (MEPS) over a 12-month postoperative period.

Background: Clinical trials and real world studies demonstrated benefit of mepolizumab treatment in severe asthma but data on its effectiveness beyond 2 years remain limited. Herein, we provide mepolizumab treatment evaluation up to 4 years.
Methods: we studied all patients initiated on mepolizumab in our center from June 2017 to August 2018.

Background: House dust mite (HDM) is the most common sensitising allergen in asthma. Ethnic minority groups (EMGs) in the UK are more likely to live in deprived conditionings with a greater exposure to HDM and other aero-allergens.
Aim: To compare the ethnicity-based patterns of sensitisation to aero-allergens and the impact of ethnicity on clinical outcomes in patients with difficult-to-treat asthma (DTA).

Objectives: Multiple treatments are described in the literature for the treatment of chronic Eustachian tube dysfunction but high-level quality evidence seems missing to support these treatments. This systematic review aimed to determine and compare the safety and efficacy of Laser Eustachian tuboplasty and Microdebrider Eustachian tuboplasty as a treatment for long-term Eustachian tube dysfunction.
Data Sources: A total of 12 electronic databases were searched up to April 2018 for published and unpublished literature in the English language.

RIPK1 (receptor-interacting serine/threonine kinase 1) is a master regulator of signaling pathways leading to inflammation and cell death and is of medical interest as a drug target. We report four patients from three unrelated families with complete RIPK1 deficiency caused by rare homozygous mutations. The patients suffered from recurrent infections, early-onset inflammatory bowel disease, and progressive polyarthritis.

Purpose The Cancer Esophagus Gefitinib trial demonstrated improved progression-free survival with the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitor gefitinib relative to placebo in patients with advanced esophageal cancer who had disease progression after chemotherapy. Rapid and durable responses were observed in a minority of patients. We hypothesized that genetic aberration of the EGFR pathway would identify patients benefitting from gefitinib.

Objective: Many major vascular centres, including ours, incorporate coverage of the thoracic aorta in CT scans evaluating abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) (extended coverage contrast-enhanced CT (EC-CECT) scan]. We sought to determine the prevalence of thoracic pathology in a large consecutive series of patients with AAA undergoing EC-CECT.
Methods: All patients who underwent EC-CECT for AAA between April 2013 and 2014 were identified from our radiology information system.

Megakaryoblastic leukemia 1 (MKL1), also known as MAL or myocardin-related transcription factor A (MRTF-A), is a coactivator of serum response factor, which regulates transcription of actin and actin cytoskeleton-related genes. MKL1 is known to be important for megakaryocyte differentiation and function in mice, but its role in immune cells is unexplored. Here we report a patient with a homozygous nonsense mutation in the MKL1 gene resulting in immunodeficiency characterized predominantly by susceptibility to severe bacterial infection.

Introduction: Laparoscopic partial fundoplication for gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) is reported to have fewer side effects when compared to Nissen fundoplication, but doubts remain over its long term durability in controlling reflux. The aim of this study was to assess outcome of symptoms for all patients presenting with GORD undergoing routine laparoscopic subtotal Lind fundoplication.
Materials & Methods: All patients undergoing laparoscopic fundoplication between August, 1999 and November, 2007 performed by a single surgeon were included in the study.

Introduction: Colorectal chemoprevention is a strategy aimed at preventing tumour progression before irreversible changes to the proteome are in full progress. Chemoprevention is not a new concept. In fact, medical practitioners since the early 19th century have tried various herbal and medicinal products as methods that could prevent tumours.
