In 2023, Bangladesh experienced its largest and deadliest outbreak of the Dengue virus (DENV), reporting the highest-ever recorded annual cases and deaths. Historically, most of the cases were recorded in the capital city, Dhaka. We aimed to characterize the geographical transmission of DENV in Bangladesh.

Background: Machine learning (ML) is increasingly used to predict clinical deterioration in intensive care unit (ICU) patients through scoring systems. Although promising, such algorithms often overfit their training cohort and perform worse at new hospitals. Thus, external validation is a critical - but frequently overlooked - step to establish the reliability of predicted risk scores to translate them into clinical practice.

People in prison are at an increased risk of long-term conditions that have been associated with poor nutrition intake, low levels of physical activity, and obesity. We aim to identify the necessary components of nutrition education to impact the health and health behaviors of people in prison. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines informed the structure of this article.

This study examined the Proteus effect in autistic and neurotypical participants via the video game, The Sims. Thirty-two participants (16 autistic, 16 neurotypical) participated in a free-play session of The Sims, playing as either an attractive or unattractive avatar. In line with predictions, participants who had played as the attractive avatar negotiated for a significantly larger share of a fictional pot of money during a post-play economic game.

Background: Differences in cervical neuromuscular function are commonly observed between people with and without chronic neck pain. Exercise may improve cervical neuromuscular function of people with neck pain although the evidence for this has not been systematically reviewed.
Objective: To systematically review the existing evidence on the effect of exercises targeting the neck muscles on neuromuscular function in people with chronic non-specific neck pain.

Introduction: The prevalence of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) among Gram-negative bacteria is a major global health concern. Resistance to last-resort antibiotics like colistin is particularly alarming. This study reviews how environmental factors have contributed to colistin resistance in the African context, where reports of colistin-resistant Gram-negative organisms are emerging.

Ransomware is a type of malware that locks access to or encrypts its victim's files for a ransom to be paid to get back locked or encrypted data. With the invention of obfuscation techniques, it became difficult to detect its new variants. Identifying the exact malware category and family can help to prepare for possible attacks.

This paper examines the significant historical and political influences on district nursing and its representation in terms of employability and education today. Using Bourdieu's theory of habitus and field, the author looks at how district nursing has been positioned in terms of a profession since its establishment. District nursing's profile and value within the NHS has declined in recent years, resulting in reduced district nurse education opportunities and funding from government.

Objectives: The prevalence of tobacco use is high in Bangladesh, with a cigarette being the most consumed tobacco product. Taxing tobacco is highly effective for tobacco control, raising costs and encouraging smokers to quit or reduce cigarette consumption. Garment workers are the major group of low-wage earners in Bangladesh.

A single guide RNA (sgRNA) directs Cas9 nuclease for gene-specific scission of double-stranded DNA. High Cas9 activity is essential for efficient gene editing to generate gene deletions and gene replacements by homologous recombination. However, cleavage efficiency is below 50% for more than half of randomly selected sgRNA sequences in human cell culture screens or model organisms.

Objectives: To calculate the smallest detectable change (SDC) in RECAP and estimate the minimal important change (MIC) for RECAP using various calculation methods in three eczema clinical trial datasets.

Arrangements of piezoelectric transducers, such as PZT (lead zirconate titanate), have been widely used in numerous structural health monitoring (SHM) applications. Usually, when two or more PZT transducers are placed close together, significant interference, namely crosstalk, appears. Such an effect is usually neglected in most SHM applications.

We examined the effects of eight weeks of single-mode resistance, repeated sprint training, and the combination of the two programs on selected measures of physical fitness (muscle power, speed, and body composition), hematological parameters, and plasma volume variations in highly trained soccer players. Sixty male soccer players from the Tunisian national Ligue were randomly allocated to a resistance training group (RTG), a repeated sprint training group (RSTG), a combined resistance and repeated sprint training group (CTG), or an active control group (CG, soccer training only). The training volumes were similar between groups.

Objectives: Violence against older adults is a prevalent global harm, and there is evidence that perceptions of violence toward older adults may affect reporting and intervention. The present study examines the perception of violence against older adults in contrast to violence against other age groups and investigates the role of ageism in those perceptions.
Methods: A total of 290 participants were surveyed and asked to indicate whether they perceived 15 abusive behaviors reflecting physical, psychological, sexual, and financial abuse and neglect to be abuse toward either an older adult (age 60+), adult, or child.

Introduction: The evolving landscape of general practice (GP)/family medicine (FM) in the post-COVID-19 era, focussing on integrating telemedicine and remote consultations requires a new definition for this specialty. Hence, a broader consensus-based definition of post-COVID-19 GP/FM is warranted.
Methods: This study involved a modified electronic Delphi technique involving 27 specialists working in primary care recruited via convenient and snowball sampling.

This study explored the prevalence, reasons, and predictors of service withdrawal by victims in a sample of 151 older adult abuse cases reported to a specialist social work service. Withdrawal occurred in 34% of cases, after an average of 3 months of contact. The most common reasons for withdrawal were victim denial of abuse and unwillingness to engage with the intervention plan.

Chronic wounds and prosthetic joint infections are difficult to treat and are associated with a high burden of disease and economic cost. The rise of antibiotic resistance and the understanding of biofilm formation has inflamed an already challenging situation. Bacteriophage therapy has been used throughout the last century to treat bacterial infections.

Background: Clinical decision-making is an essential part of the nursing role and has implications for both patient care and nurses' well-being.
Aim: This study aimed to explore the relationship between nurses' perceptions of clinical decision-making ability and moral distress across a nursing population, and the potential link to self-compassion and health-promoting behaviours.
Methods: A self-report questionnaire was distributed to a sample of nurses ( = 152) from April to September 2022.

Surveillance is essential in the fight against antimicrobial resistance (AMR), to monitor the extent of resistance, inform prevention, control measures, and evaluate intervention progress. Traditional surveillance methods based on phenotypic antimicrobial susceptibility data offer important but limited insights into resistance mechanisms, transmission networks, and spread patterns of resistant bacterial strains. Fortunately, genomic technologies are increasingly accessible and can overcome these limitations.
