Tumor secreted extracellular vesicles (EVs) are potent intercellular signaling platforms. They are responsible for the accommodation of the premetastatic niche (PMN) to support cancer cell engraftment and metastatic growth. However, complex cancer cell composition within the tumor increases also the heterogeneity among cancer secreted EVs subsets, a functional diversity that has been poorly explored.

Methionine constitutes a central hub of intracellular metabolic adaptations leading to an extended longevity (maximum lifespan). The present study follows a comparative approach analyzing methionine and related metabolite and amino acid profiles using an LC-MS/MS platform in the hearts of seven mammalian species with a longevity ranging from 3.8 to 57 years.

Aim: To determine the efficacy of an online mindfulness intervention in reducing anxiety and stress levels in nursing students during clinical simulations.
Background: Clinical simulation as a learning strategy has many benefits but the high levels of stress and anxiety it produces in participants can compromise learning, motivation or performance.
Design: A quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent control group design is presented.

In order to assess the impact of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on biological and body composition variables in patients with musculoskeletal disorders (MSKD), a systematic search on PubMed (Medline), CENTRAL, CINAHL, Web of Science, SPORTDiscus, and Scopus was conducted. Standardized mean differences (SMD) and 95% confidence intervals were calculated and pooled in a meta-analysis using the random-effects model. The effectiveness of HIIT on waist circumference, muscle mass, resting heart rate, resting systolic and diastolic blood pressure, C-reactive protein, body weight, and body fat were determined.

Anemia is a complication of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Phosphate and fibroblast growth factor-23 (FGF23) have a close relationship, as both are related to the pathogenesis of anemia. However, the possible interplay between them regarding their effect on anemia has not been evaluated.

Supporting women to disclose gender-based violence (GBV) is a central feature of how healthcare and other welfare services address this problem. In this paper we take a discursive approach to analyse the process of disclosing GBV from the perspectives of young women who have been subjected to GBV and professionals working in the welfare system. Through a reflective thematic analysis of 13 interviews with young women who have been subjected to GBV and 17 with professionals working in different sectors of the welfare system, we developed four themes about how disclosure is perceived: (i) as a conversation between acquaintances; (ii) as 'no solution'; (iii) as a possible prerequisite for action; and (iv) as difficult because GBV is normalised.

Colorectal cancer causes >900,000 deaths every year and a deeper understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying this disease will contribute to improve its clinical management and survival. Myosin Vb (MYO5B) regulates intracellular vesicle trafficking, and inactivation of this myosin disrupts the polarization and differentiation of intestinal epithelial cells causing microvillous inclusion disease (MVID), a rare congenital disorder characterized by intractable life-threatening diarrhea. Here, we show that the loss Myosin Vb interfered with the differentiation/polarization of colorectal cancer cells.

The Final Degree Project (FDP) is a module that, although intended for the completion of a bachelor thesis (BT), consists of theoretical and clinical teaching. Therefore, introducing service learning (SL) can support student adjustments to the real-world professional role. This study plans to evaluate a teaching innovation project that combines BT and SL through Kirkpatrick's four-level model (reaction, learning, behaviour and results).

Background: CM is a highly disabling disease, and migraineurs often have associated comorbidities, such as subjective memory problems, that are involved in the development of cognitive impairment. Our hypotheses are that patients suffering from chronic migraine experience objective cognitive alterations that are not only due to the pain that they suffer or their current emotional state.

Background: Research is essential to practice nursing and must be duly enhanced during university training. Therefore, writing a bachelor thesis may help to develop research skills and thus transfer this skill set to practical application.
Objectives: 1) To ascertain whether writing a bachelor thesis has a bearing on attitudes towards nursing research and development; 2) to establish a comparison between groups (students and nurses), and 3) to analyse other factors (work experience, advanced training, research experience) that may influence the relationship between nurses and nursing research and development.

Imbalances of the oral microbiota and dysbiosis have traditionally been linked to the occurrence of teeth and oral diseases. However, recent findings indicate that this microbiota exerts relevant influence in systemic health. Dysbiosis of the oral microbiota is implicated in the apparition and progression of cardiovascular, neurodegenerative and other major human diseases.

Purpose: The aim of the study was to demonstrate the clinical outcomes after resection of conjunctival melanoma (CM) followed by topical interferon (IFN) alpha 2b after a long follow-up.
Methods: Two consecutive CM patients were treated using tumor excision followed by topical IFN alpha 2b (1,000,000 UI/mL) four times a day for 12 weeks. The second case presented positivity due to the presence of tumor cells in the lower margin of the resection.

Objective: We aimed to assess the prevalence and clinical characteristics of SARS-CoV-2 reinfections in a Spanish region.
Methods: This is a retrospective observational study in all patients with SARS-CoV-2 infections in the Lleida health region from 1 March to 30 November 2020. Reinfections were classified as patients with positive SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests separated by at least 90 days plus a negative test result between both infection episodes.

Objective: To determine the association between Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) with long-term symptoms and inflammatory cytokines, exploring the changes between 4-months and 1-year after COVID-19 infection.
Methods: We conducted an observational, prospective cohort study, including patients ≥18 years old with confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 between April to July 2020. All participants underwent two clinical follow-up visits, the first at 4-months (Visit 1) and the second at 1 year, after SARS-CoV-2 infection (Visit 2).

Anxiety is one of the most common problems among nursing students. The State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) is used to detect anxiety in this population; however, its length hinders speedy detection. For this reason, a faster and more efficient instrument is needed for early detection.

Metabolomic profiling analysis has the potential to highlight new molecules and cellular pathways that may serve as potential therapeutic targets for disease treatment. In this study, we used an LC-MS/MS platform to define, for the first time, the specific metabolomic signature of uterine serous carcinoma (SC), a relatively rare and aggressive variant of endometrial cancer (EC) responsible for 40% of all endometrial cancer-related deaths. A metabolomic analysis of 31 ECs (20 endometrial endometrioid carcinomas (EECs) and 11 SCs) was performed.

Falls have a considerable impact on the functional prognosis of older adults. The main focus of this multicenter, retrospective, observational study was to examine the prevalence of falls in Spanish people aged 65-80 years still living at home. The secondary aims included examining the overall sociodemographic and clinical variables associated with a history of falls and then stratifying these findings by sex.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been a phenomenal challenge to global health care and will continue to be so in the upcoming months. Beyond its medical toll, COVID-19 has also exacerbated pre-existing social issues and created new inequalities. This has generated a series of ethical problems that will need to be carefully analyzed to avoid repeating similar mistakes in the context of other crises.
