Introduction: The study aimed to analyze the characteristics of patients admitted to the neurology department of a tertiary hospital who subsequently died, focusing on those with high disease severity.
Materials And Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study of patients who died among those admitted to the neurology department of a regional tertiary hospital from 2013 to 2021. Clinical, radiological, and laboratory results of the included patients were collected, and their primary diagnoses, duration from time of admission to death, and direct causes of death were analyzed.

Rationale: Primary pituitary lymphoma is defined as a lymphoma that develops only in the pituitary gland without involvement of other areas.
Patient Concerns: We present the case of a 61-year-old female patient who underwent an endonasal transsphenoidal approach for the preoperative diagnosis of a pituitary macroadenoma based on radiological findings.
Diagnoses: Microscopically, the capillaries were distended by tumor cells.

Hangovers from alcohol consumption cause symptoms like headaches, nausea, and fatigue, disrupting daily activities and overall well-being. Over time, they can also lead to inflammation and oxidative stress. Effective hangover relief alleviates symptoms, prevents dehydration, and replenishes energy needed for daily tasks.

Background: Circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) are potential biomarkers for various kidney diseases. In this study, we aimed to identify a circulating miRNA signature for detecting acute kidney injury (AKI) in scrub typhus.
Methods: We prospectively enrolled 40 patients with scrub typhus (20 with AKI, AKI group; 20 without AKI, non-AKI group) and 20 healthy volunteers (the HV group).

Alkyl sulfones are found in numerous valuable organic molecules. Here, we describe a promising approach for the one-pot synthesis of alkyl sulfones under visible light. Aryl diazo salts were allowed to react with styrene derivatives and sodium metabisulfite in the presence of thiophenol as a hydrogen atom transfer reagent and rhodamine B as a photocatalyst to yield alkyl sulfones.

Echocardiography is the gold standard of diagnosis and evaluation of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), a common condition among preterm infants that can cause hemodynamic abnormalities and increased mortality rates, but this technique requires a skilled specialist and is not always available. Meanwhile, chest X-ray (CXR) imaging is also known to exhibit signs of PDA and is a routine imaging modality in neonatal intensive care units. In this study, we aim to find and objectively define CXR image features that are associated with PDA by training and visually analyzing a deep learning model.

Objectives: This study aimed to develop a model to predict the autonomy preference (AP) and satisfaction after tooth extraction (STE) in patients with periodontal disease. Understanding of individual AP and STE is essential for improving patient satisfaction and promoting informed decision-making in periodontics.
Methods: A stacked ensemble machine learning model was used to predict patient AP and STE based on the results of a survey that included demographic information, oral health status, AP index, and STE.

Despite being an essential specialty, pediatrics in South Korea faces the threat of collapse. While the declining birth rate is an important contributor to the decrease in the pediatric population, a more critical issue lies in the dysfunctional healthcare system. Primary care pediatricians are troubled by the lack of patients, whereas tertiary care specialists are concerned about the shortage of doctors.

Background: Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is a complex immune-mediated condition that causes fibrotic inflammation in several organs. A significant clinical feature of IgG4-RD is hypertrophic pachymeningitis, which manifests as inflammation of the dura mater in intracranial or spinal regions. Although IgG4-RD can affect multiple areas, the spine is a relatively rare site compared to the more frequent involvement of intracranial structures.

Background: AngioJet rheolytic thrombectomy is associated with a higher risk of acute kidney injury due to its potential for inducing mechanical harm and intravascular hemolysis. However, previous studies have focused on a single disease entity.
Purpose: To identify predictors associated with acute kidney injury after AngioJet rheolytic thrombectomy across a range of disease entities.

Purpose: The K-FRAIL scale is a Korean version of the aging questionnaire that allows screening and diagnosis of easily observable aging in the elderly through a simple self-answer questionnaire. The objective of this study was to examine the relation between fraility and clinical symptoms of the lower urinary tract in elderly men using the K-FRAIL scale.
Materials And Methods: A prospective study was conducted on 100 patients who underwent urological examination at our hospital from January 2021 to December 2021.

The fast, and highly sensitive estimation of cardiac troponin T (cTnT) is crucial for the early identification of acute myocardial infarction (AMI). The electrochemical immunoassay-based (EIB) sensors are highly promising for this purpose, as they offer precise measurements and can be directly assessed in intricate matrices, including blood. To increase sensitivity, EIB sensors use nanomaterials or amplification processes, which can be laborious to develop.

Background: The age at onset (AAO) of Parkinson's disease (PD) varies widely among individuals and significantly influences disease progression and prognosis. However, few genome-wide association studies (GWASs) have investigated genetic variants determining AAO, particularly in East Asian populations.
Objectives: To identify single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) affecting AAO of PD in Korean patients.

The current letter to the editor pertains to the manuscript entitled 'Uridine diphosphate glucuronosyltransferase 1A1 prevents the progression of liver injury'. Increased levels of uridine diphosphate glucuronosyltransferase 1A1 during liver injury could mitigate damage by reducing endoplasmic reticulum stress, oxidative stress, and dysregulated lipid metabolism, impeding hepatocyte apoptosis and necroptosis.

Odontogenic myxoma of the mandibular condyle is a rare tumor that requires complete surgical resection because of the tendency for recurrence. The right mandibular condyle was resected to remove the myxoma. The author performed immediate condylar reconstruction using a costochondral graft (CCG), and stable temporomandibular joint (TMJ) function and occlusion were achieved.

Objective: To evaluate the impact of intraprocedural cone-beam CT (CBCT) aortography on culprit artery identification and clinical outcomes in patients undergoing bronchial artery embolization (BAE).
Materials And Methods: Two hundred eighty-two patients with 317 BAE procedures were retrospectively reviewed. Patients who underwent preprocedural chest CT angiography (CTA) without intraprocedural CBCT aortography were categorized as Group A (n = 177).
