Cerebellar ataxia with neuropathy and bilateral vestibular areflexia syndrome (CANVAS) is an hereditary autosomal recessive disease. Recent studies propose including chronic cough (CC) as a symptom of CANVAS. For 10 patients with CANVAS as genetically confirmed by biallelic expansion of the AAGG repeat motif (AAGGGexp) in intron 2 of replication factor C subunit 1 (RFC1), our aim was, as a multidisciplinary team, to describe clinical and functional characteristics and possible causes of CC following European Respiratory Society (ERS) recommendations, and to evaluate CC impact on quality of life (QoL) using self-administered questionnaires (Cough Severity Diary, Leicester Cough Questionnaire, Discrete Emotions Questionnaire, and EQ-5D-5L).

Background: The incidence of coagulation of continuous renal replacement therapy circuits remains high. To the best of our knowledge, no scholar has published a protocol to avoid management errors when different types of citrates coexist in the same Intensive Care Unit.
Aim: To assess the safety and efficacy of the unification of two protocols with different concentrations of citrate solution.

Objective: To explore differences between published reviews and their respective protocols in a sample of 97 non-Cochrane Systematic Reviews (non-CSRs) and 97 Cochrane Systematic Reviews (CSRs) in terms of PICOS (Patients/Population, Intervention, Comparison/Control, Outcome, Study type) elements and the extent to which they were reported.
Study Design And Setting: We searched PubMed and Cochrane databases to identify non-CSRs and CSRs that were published in 2018. We then searched for their corresponding Cochrane or PROSPERO protocols.
Somatic mosaicism appears as a recurrent phenomenon among patients suffering from Fanconi anemia (FA), but its direct prognostic significance mostly remains an open question. The clinical picture of FA mosaic subjects could indeed vary from just mild features to severe hematologic failure. Here, we illustrate the case of a proband whose FA familiarity, modest signs (absence of hematological anomalies and fertility issues), and chromosome fragility test transition to negative overtime were suggestive of somatic mosaicism.

Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is currently the treatment of choice for patients aged ≥75 years with severe aortic stenosis. Preoperative anemia is present in a large proportion of patients and may increase the risk of post-procedural complications. The purpose of this prognostic systematic review was to analyze the impact of baseline anemia on short- and mid-term outcomes following TAVR.

Background: Missed nursing care is defined as care that is delayed, partially completed, or not completed at all. The scenario created by the COVID-19 pandemic may have influenced multifactorial determinants related to the care environment, nursing processes, internal processes, and decision-making processes, increasing missed nursing care.
Aim: This scoping review aimed to establish the quantity and type of research undertaken on missed nursing care during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is well known that the perinatal period supposes a considerable risk of relapse for women with bipolar disorder (BD) and recurrent major depressive disorder (rMDD), with the consequences that this entails. Therefore, the authors sought to provide a critical appraisal of the evidence related to specific risk factors for this population with the aim of improving the prevention of relapses during pregnancy and postpartum. The authors conducted a systematic review assessing 18 original studies that provided data on risk factors for relapse or recurrence of BD and/or rMDD in the perinatal period (pregnancy and postpartum).

Background: Hip fractures are almost always the result of a fall. Causes and circumstances of falls may differ between frail and vigorous patients.
Aim: To describe the circumstances of falls causing hip fractures, number of falls during the previous year, and their association with long-term mortality.

Background: Chronic inflammation is considered a risk factor for the development of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular (CV) events. We seek to assess the risk of CV events in patients with Systemic autoimmune diseases (SAD), such as Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), Psoriasis (Ps) and Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS), compared with the general population.
Methods And Results: A systematic search of MEDLINE from inception up to May 2021 was performed.

Arterial tortuosity syndrome (ATS) is an autosomal recessive connective tissue disease caused by biallelic variants in the SLC2A10 gene (NG_016284.1) and characterised by tortuosity and elongation of the aorta and medium-sized arteries. It is considered an extremely rare disease; only 106 individuals with genetically confirmed ATS have been identified to date.

Herein, we describe the case of P1, a FA proband carrying a splicing variant, molecularly compensated by a insertion. Targeted next-generation sequencing on P1's peripheral blood DNA detected the known c.

Background: Self-management interventions (SMIs) are core components of high-quality care in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). We aimed to identify and summarise the scientific evidence exploring the perspectives of patients with T2DM and their informal caregivers on outcomes of SMIs, and the key themes to enhance T2DM patient-centred care.
Methods: We conducted a mixed-methods overview of reviews.

Methods: Overview of systematic reviews (SRs) reporting patients' utilities or disutilities for T2DM outcomes. We searched 3 databases from inception until June 2021.

Background: Progressive cognitive decline is an inevitable feature of Huntington's disease (HD) but specific criteria and instruments are still insufficiently developed to reliably classify patients into categories of cognitive severity and to monitor the progression of cognitive impairment.
Methods: We collected data from a cohort of 180 positive gene-carriers: 33 with premanifest HD and 147 with manifest HD. Using a specifically developed gold-standard for cognitive status we classified participants into those with normal cognition, those with mild cognitive impairment, and those with dementia.

Background: The activities of tissue establishments are constantly and rapidly evolving. The development of a new type of allograft, full-thickness acellular dermal matrix, with high mechanical properties to be used in tendon repair surgeries and abdominal wall reconstruction, has determined the need for quality by design process in order to assess evidence of quality, safety and efficacy. The EuroGTPII methodologies were specifically tailored to perform the risk assessment, identify and suggest tests in order to mitigate the potential risk consequences of a novel tissue preparation implementation.
